ChrisKels: When Mikel left, we crumbled and the Croatians over ran us. Okocha is talking creativity. However, creativity was not the problem. The problem was lack of mobility which was caused by Shehu and Ighalo. If Ebuehi and Iheanacho started, we would have caused the Croatians more problems. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Eleniyan15: What about the time Mikel battled a Croatian at the corner won the ball and gave a cross. The young man worked hard. I wonder why the criticism is on someone who gave his all for the team. Mikel was not the problem but movement upfront. 2 Likes |

Mujtahida: iwobi could effect a game even from that position, in modern football a player must not play in his preferred wing, i have tried to explain to you how the 4-2-3-1 formation works. watch coutihno tomorrow, he plays just the same position iwobi plays for Nigeria, left side of the 4-2-3-1, the problem is mikel, in that kinda formation players move and change position. The guy in the middle is always ready to join the point man just like neymar does. coutihno prefered position is middle but he won't get that but still his effective from there. Anyone who care should rewatch zam - Nig in Zambia, we played 4-2-3-1 but mikel played deep with onazi and Nacho played in the middle and iwobi on the left and Simon moses on the right and ideye played 9.... they were very fluid and interchanged very well 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Man you are being economical with the truth. That creativity and also mobility were lacking. Mikel should be pairing Ndidi to be replaced my Etebo after the hour mark. Iwobi should be the one behind our striker not Mikel. Yes Ebuehi should be starting ahead of Shehu, also Achor ahead of Ighalo. Guy I am tired of drawing out formations since that crap of a coach will never try something different even though the current one is failing him. After the compulsary 3 matches, the boys should come home. 5 Likes |

ChrisKels: Economical in what way? I am not against Iwobi playing a creative role. I am saying that was not the problem. We are blunt in attack because Ighalo does not offer much movement. Shehu should not have started ahead of Ebuehi because of the same problem. Shehu offered little movement upfront. Blaming Mikel for creativity is baffling 5 Likes |

Honestly speaking, overall the boys played well. Our midfield did excellently well to match the Croats. The own goal was unfortunate. No fault of either Etebor or Uzoho. It was just bad luck. Ekong's foul is what I would not accept for a player in a tournament like the World Cup. I hope Rohr does not start Ighalo again. Iceland are very beatable. They will come out to claim 3 points against us and may get exposed. Somebody should tell the boys that the fashion parade is over, and that the World Cup has started. 7 Likes |

One tackle and cross by Mikel is not enough. Mikel is slow and does not play well as AM. It's a position he wants to play in and I believe he has the ear of the the coach hence why he does not start on the bench. The team formation was questioned even by the pundits on ITV before the game started. These guys don't follow Nigerian football yet they saw that the formation was not good for our style of play TheGoodJoe: 5 Likes |

No we did not play well. The game was the worst game so far. The Nigerians made it boring. We are going home early. The first game mattered and if we had lost but played well then I'd be optimistic however we played baddddd. These Croatians are not good but they played very cautiously whereas Nigeria played with fear and no imagination at all Icon4s: 3 Likes |

If we beat Iceland & Croatia draws Argentina, then it will be Croatia. 4pts Nigeria. 3pts Argentina. 2pts Iceland. 1pt If we beat Iceland & Argentina beats Croatia, it will be: Argentina 4pts Croatia. 3pts Nigeria. 3pts Iceland. 1pt We must be at our best. Play 3-5-2 Rohr please. Let Mikel and Ndidi sit deep while Iwobi plays 10. 3 Likes |

Icon4s: I agree with you on one thing, that own goal was not Etebo's fault. That was a well executed set piece that was on course to go in whether Etebo's leg was in the way or not. I don't even think Etebo's leg even touched the ball to be honest. Other then that let's tell ourselves the truth we played bad yesterday. They we're playing area boy football, just passing that ball around and running aimlessly as if the purpose of playing football is not to score a goal. Although its looking very bleak mathematically we still have chance to progress. Croatia is in the driver seat with 3 points but its a 3 way race between us, Iceland and Argentina. If we win our next two games we'll be destined for the round of 16 with 6 points and there will be no way Iceland or Argentina can get over 5 points. It's a tough mountain to climb but it's possible, as long as Nigeria abandons the nonsense they played yesterday. 2 Likes |

raindodger13: Going into that game, Croatia were the favorites considering the quality they have especially in the midfield. I was expecting us to be on the back foot for most of the game and thriving on counters but we wrestled the midfield with them. We didn't create too many chances but Uzoho didn't really make point blank saves either. We were just unlucky with the own goal. That ball was not goal bound. Etebo's right foot deflected it in. I expect us to give a better performance against Iceland. Though Mikel didn't bring his A game but he didnt play as badly as peeps here make it seem. On people blaming Rohr for playing him in the AM position is it not the same player that played the position all through the qualifiers and was hailed by all? He has done well repeatedly in that position so it was a no brainer for Rohr to start him there. 3 Likes |

Its high time Rohr balls up, remove sentiments and does the right thing. Shehu and Ighalo should sit on the bench.(if possible send them back home). Mikel should play DM alongside Ndidi. Sorted. |

I think what pains me most is people coming to say we played well when even analysts on TV expressed their concerns about the first half and how disorganised we were. I really did not expect a win but they did not play well. I still remember the friendly between Athletico and the Team B. Even though they lost the match, we could see how hard they tried. That is the spirit I am looking for. We have been the poorest African team so far with little or no direction. I know this team can do better if only they are used to the best of their potential. Oh and on the Shehu case, he is good but he will struggle in this world cup, Ashley Young showed us during the friendlies what he would be up against but we still did not learn. He is a make shift right back and a dedicated footballer but this is the world cup!!! I will not join people and start calculating ifs and buts. They should just express their best in the remaining two matches and we now need to search for more talents that can make our squad stronger. Qatar 2022 is not as far as we think. 1 Like 1 Share |

Don't mind some of these guys. Mikel did create some chances. And what Okocha said is nonsense. He is talking trash about accommodating Mikel. Who else can bring calm to our midfield the way Mikel does? And guess who Mikel battled and won the ball off at that corner... it was Luka Modric himself. Both of them had a keen battle throughout the duration of the game. Mikel matched Modric throughout. TheGoodJoe: 1 Like |
