Martz101: I never said he was bad but he bleeped himself up by falling down more than rain this season, take it or leave it..Thank God for Etebo and Ndidi or else Nigeria midfield would have collapse like wall of Jericho. Call a spade a spade moses was a threat but he didn't play like a professional player only Etebo did, ok |

Goke7: In football a year is a long time two years history and four years Ancient History. 4 years ago Onazi was playing for Lazio as a teenager and a highly prized player wanted even by Tottenham. Today he is in Turkey ☪ that should tell us something. Omeruo didn't cut it in the Championship and plays in Turkey. Why Mikel was good but yesterday we could see he was out of his depth. When was the last time Mikel bossed a game for the SE, again history. Onazi is not even 27 yet and for the past 3 years his career is on a downward spiral. It doesn't make sense he should be progressing. I am confused. Onazi and Mikel first half against England were woeful. Indeed this has been a continous trend we start like snails and and ate shoddy but them recover in the second half. Uzoho is out of his depth but he is apparently the best we have. On paper this is the least talented side in the History of the SE. But the most depressing observation they play with ZERO PASSION COMMITMENT & DETERMINATION. With this kind of mentality we can end up loosing all our games and the worst outing in the history of the SE. If we do not change IMMEDIATELY our attitude we are going to get kicked out. I was impressed with Kelechi and Etebo nobody else was outstanding. Ighalo did all he could do but got zero service. Why was Etebo playing holding midfield when that's best suited to Ndidi or even Mikel. Shehu was a liability, players are getting exposed and no amount of padding can hide it. Idowu was out of his depth only good going forward on occasions. Our CB's were dominated in all areas ( l fear what Iceland will do to them) Unfortunately we are now exposed all teams playing against will believe they can beat us. I saw Simi and for the 7 minutes he played I saw nothing, but I give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Moses was unprofessional and indisciplined the less said the better. On a positive note let these teams over exaggerate our faults and be over confident. This gives us a glimmer of hope, just a glimmer not much else. 4 Likes |

Mujtahida: all this coming up because we lost to Croatia...to me the group is wide open and we can qualify from that group iwobi need to stand up to be counted when it matters, i don't believe this is a case of playing a player in a wrong position, so many players are always played out of position in country football Come to think of it, iwobi has played more in the wing in his professional career than in the middle, so how could that be out of position?? we needed to contain ndidi, mikel and iwobi in the team and add another tackler to add grit, perhaps Rohr should have tried the 3-5-2 formation |

Stop blaming the coach! He qualified us undisputedly for the mundial, didn't he? Our team's problem is not in the aspect of coaching. I can bet my life on it that even if he had used the formation each one of you wanted, we still would have lost or, at best, drawn the game. We've been going back and forth with this issue of coaching for as long as I can remember. Yet, nothing changes. Our team struggle, especially against european and south american teams. If we fire this coach and employ another one, the main problem will still be there, and we still won't go far in a major competition like the world cup. The problem is not the coach. The problem is the set of players we take to the world cup. THESE PLAYERS ARE NOT AGILE. They get tired quickly. They can't RUN and CHARGE their opponents for 90 minutes like the europeans and south americans do. This was why our players were sluggish in the opening minutes of the game yesterday. They were conserving energy, I guess. The strikers and midfielders hardly marked their opponents. They hardly ran with the ball. They hardly chased the ball. It was until they were one goal down they began attempting to do all these. These team will only do well against fellow HEAVY africans. I won't blame these players for losing yesterday as well. They gave their all. You can't give what you don't have. Their best just wasn't enough to bother the croats. If it were an african side they played yesterday, I'm sure we would all have a huge smile on our faces now -- they would have won. Football is not just about experience. A team has to have more synergy than their opponents in order to win. This is the main thing our senior teams have been lacking. The only way forward is by putting together a team of talented young players (under 23) who have played together for a while to be our super eagles. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Mickael2: Who should be blamed that are not blamed. If it is Mikel, that is not true. He worked his socks off to make up for the team. He pressed and was building from the back. Yet you want to blame him? Mikel was over worked. If you want to blame Ekong, you are free but my problem is not about single incidences but overall play. We have given the opposition power with our timid approaches. Also we need more mobility upfront to cause damage. Finito. 7 Likes |

Eleniyan15: I repeat. Mikel was over worked. I have gone as far as highlighting that he helped press in attack and was exchanging passes with the defenders on repeated occassions. What you wrote up there does not discredit my point. Mikel covered a lot of grass on that pitch. Gerrit? 7 Likes |

Mickael2: I said when you have Mikel pressing, you have a problem. It means your striker is not capable enough to press. With Nacho on the field, Mikel pressed less compared to Nacho. Gerrit? 3 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: Sorry one player doesn't press alone it's an exercise in futility. The team press as a unit not as individuals it's hard work but that's what makes the difference. Unfortunately, HARD TRUTH Mikel can not press too slow and has no stamina. In this regard he becomes a liability. The game was lost by team selection & formation. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:03am On Jun 17, 2018 |
BascoVanVeli: I said Ighalo offered Limited pressing. Not that he could not press but needed Mikel (This is not the first time) to help carry the load. Ighalo s Limited in pressing. Unlike Nacho when he came on, we saw him not only press the defenders but even kept the Goalkeeper on his toes. Ighalo lacks that ability. Gerrit? 1 Like |

wayodude: In the end it depends on Rohrs direction and his tactics. Him not playing 532, putting Iwobi on the wings and playing Mikel as CAM was detrimental to our attack. I’m pained becuase we lost 2-0 to a weak Croatian team. It’s very depressing because we have lots of talent on paper. I was watching a Canadian channel and they said we have loads of talent but no cohesion and in the end it was all due to our tactics. |

komekn: Why are you people dancing around the same false point? How many times did you see Mikel ahead of Iheanacho pressing? None. Since they played together in the Super Eagles in different games? None. In yesterday's game, the too slow Mikel was ahead of Ighalo repeatedly. It shows Ighalo lacked the capability. Ighalo hardly ever troubled the keeper which in a short time Nacho did repeatedly. What pains me the most is that we have better players head to head with Iceland and that our coach’s tactics and direction will be our undoing. Rohr must utilize a formation that’ll unlock the pace, energy and explosiveness of our team. Is it that hard for him to see this? 4 Likes 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe: Call a spade a spade. Etebo covered even more grass as an AMF and we all said that was not enough because his primary job was to create for the team so lets not say Mikel covered grass so he must be exempt from being our source of creativity. |

TheGoodJoe: Chai Joe, if we dont stand for our team, who will? In my hood I am called the fake Barca fan just because I root for any team parading a Nigerian footballer whenever they are pitched against my darling FCB. People know me too well as a staunch Eagles fan and they really dealt with me yesterday. Even people I bought drink to enjoy my team yesterday begin laugh me because I was clad in our new Jersey. I regret not sticking my ass home to see the match alone, my enthusiasm for the team and game sold me out. I drove off in anger and the guys had to board a taxi back to the estate. Come see yeye messages from my none Nigerian friends especially the Ghanaians and SA. Now to flex Jersey wey I buy with my money na wahala all because of one stubborn coach. I want Rohr fired. This time I mean it. I haven't been this sad for many years. |

What also grinded my gears was that Uzoho didn't even dive for the Pk. We had how many months of knowing we would play Croatia and somebody didn't think it would be wise to take 5 minutes to study their one and only penalty taker!! Even in the PSL u see coaches telling their keepers were to dive because they had studied the opponent. We have not one but two GK trainers btw. |

4-4-2 formation (Diamond) is the way forward if he doesn't want to play 3-5-2 Why should he remove Iwobi for Musa!!! Iwobi most of the time was moving down to the middle!! The moment iwobi was out of the pitch mikel was useless in AM role, am not saying mikel is a bad player but the best role for that dude is DM paring Ndidi Simy(CF) and Nacho/Moses (SS)should strike upfront Ebuehi should start!!!
