Crane1:
@ Marvel64. Please kindly help me understand how this FCC thing works. I will cite a scenario here.
1. Let say they,DPR allocated 18 slots for Physicist/Geophysics post in this recruitment, are you saying the 18 slots will be shared amongst the 6 geo-political zone, with each having three each?
2. If for example SW has 3 slots for the above position, will the highest scoring candidate in that zone who applied for the said position be considered for the post, regardless the rank of highly others from his/her state score? Or is it that the highest scoring candidates as against the slot slated for the state, determines which field is eventually picked?
3. If my no. 2 is not the case, can you please enlighten me on how it is done.
Thanks as I await you comment and clarifications.
Position: Geophysics 1. Let’s assume 40 candidates participated in the interview for the above position are from IMO, RIVERS, BAYELSA. 2. Assume available vacancies for the position is 10. 3. Assume IMO , RIVERS , BAYELSA have 7, 10 and 12 slots respectively. 4. Now Among the 40 candidates, weed out those with course of study not relating to the position applied. 5. Use what is left to check if they came out tops in their respective states. i.e among the top 7 in Imo, 10 in Rivers and 12 in Bayelsa. Weed out the rest that don’t meet this requirement. 6. If there’s are two or more people from the same LGA in the individual states pick the best among them. 7. If at the end of the day you are left with 20 candidates. Pick the best 10 using their average score to fill the vacancy for the Geophysics position. I hope this helps. 3 Likes 1 Share |

COC has been issued is a big lie from the pit of hell... Remember FCC had to write to DPR to inquire why the recruitment is taking too long.. The committee in FCC on DPR recruitment is to sit this week. I've zero contact at DPR office but I've a handful of info from FCC. 5 Likes |

Now I get it perfectly. Thank you for the clarification, however Physicist/Geophysicist is the position advertised, no position for Geophysics, just to mention. From all you said, I don't have any issue with my course and position applied for. All is well and very optimistic of being successful. Marvel64:

Tamihawtt: Hello everyone,
I left NL but was lowkey still in your lives somehow...LOL i read here sometimes and been on the watsapp grp as well.
First of all, I'm not here to water down anyone's views or debate about anything. I have read posts over the weekend and been keeping up and heres my take and what i know... The reason we were asked to come for interview with original copies of documents and were 1st accredited before having a one on one with the interviewer is for the sole aim of matching what you say you have to your application as well as be interviewed based on it. The moment the interviewers marked you, their scores where uploaded on the laptop in front of them immediately. GT had points for masters and additional certification but if employed they are employing you solely based on your 1st degree and as such will be placed on level 8(you can confirm this when you receive your APL). I'm saying all these to let you know the marks uploaded is then auto added to test scores and average is the only biz DPR has with you from then on( everything is over to COMPUTER) Over 4k ppl were interviewed so nobody will be checking your 1st degree/wat you applied for to give you APL (all that was the judgement of your interviewer's scoring. They won't score you well if they believe your degree does not match the role you applied for). Everything after interview was based on cross referencing scores against Federal xter policies(computer work i.e snapnet e.g top 5 scores in delta state etc). A whole lot of people had above 80% average so trust me when i say the competition was very stiff. 70% will take the grace of God unless your state ppl had lower average. Western states LOL I'm sure yu guys are like competing on 90% average sef( kidding o) No one, i repeat no one has been contacted yet. They have everything they want from you if not in your portal, they got it from you at interview. Now to the issue of COC. To the best of my knowledge, COC has been issued, i realise people who have contacts at FCC are not aware of this and i can only assume there's also politics in FCC like every other coy. I believ even the committee assigned may not have had a formal deliberation on it i.e they may not have even set their eyes on the list but the COC has been issued. You need to know the list will not even reach FCC if the chairman's list had not be satisfied (be honest with yourself, he def had his own candidates too which will be a list that will also include candidates of those working around him too). You don't have to agree with me pls. I'm only sharing what i know. I believe letters are being typed already and i will know more once work resumes back. Shakur travelled early last week for the muslim hols but i kno he had a group of people working on it and honestly nothing can happen unless he returns after the holidays (sad but true) All is def completed on FCC part, DPR already sorted level placements of EH once the COC was issued, its all left to them to get the APLs ready and contact successfuls. I'm hopeful we would hear from them this month. Pls i don't share what i don't hear directly from the source which is why i don't mention dates unless i hear an affirmative date.
All I've typed is all i know for now(pls don't flood my email, pls don't bombard me with questions) I will get back once i hear anything new after work resumes. No, i don't know if my name is on the list (LOL) Stop worrying about local govt, merit, etc. If its yours, no one can take it from you. Afterall there is nothing you can do anymore aside hope for the best.
Also, its same tamihawtt, i contacted HRtechnique, Acmillan(you never replied) and StanUC yest!
I wish y'all the best! But you people should go on holiday na! Lol

Hello Engineer You didn't lose 6 mark but rather 1 mark as GT
There's a total points for everyone is allowed to reach, The points/mark has a limit let's say 10 for you to pass your interview.
Example of Points break as follows:
Only B.Sc is 5 points B.Sc.+M.Sc is 6 points B.Sc + PhD is 7 points Dressing + composure 1 point Answer to Technical question 1 point Answer to current affairs 1 point Readiness (coming with your pen) 0.5 point Professional qualification 0.5 point As someone whose opinion i value strongly on this thread, I applied as EH HR. I studied Biochem but i hv an MBA and an MSC.. Do you also think i would hv been weeded out ifo those who hv BSC. HR? |

nigerianonym: And the interviewers in PH wanted to kill us. My questions: How do you measure energy? Wasn't very clear to me, so I answered wrongly. Later I realised he was talking of gas, which I believe is measured in cubic feet.
I was asked basic thermodynamics questions on adiabatic process and other stuff . I simply, honestly answered I don't know. Didnt want to guess and fumble.
Then rate of heat flow through a cylinder and sphere, are they the same? Answered correctly, NO!
Give 2 examples each of High distillate, intermediate distillate and light distillate. Answered partially correctly. One of the interviewers helped me complete the intermediate distillate, that's why I said partially.
Governor of Zamfara State: I froze. Couldn't remember. Governor of Kano state: answered correctly. They wanted first name and surname. I was dropping surnames only. Then they asked for Gov of Lagos' first name, I couldn't remember. I apologised for being nervous. And truly I was nervous. Chief Justice of the Federation. Couldn't remember.
Leaders of house of reps and their deputies. I answered correctly.
I was asked to name six people my job affects on the rig (I'm a drilling fluids engineer), so I answered correctly.
They asked some questions on drilling fluids. They started lecturing me on how thermodynamics applies to Drilling fluids engineering. I listened keenly and was receptive, so they know I'm teachable.
They asked what's common to the North East, Niger Delta and South East. I guess it's Barite. Didn't want to guess. I honestly answered I dunno to some questions.
I was bombarded with questions.
They also asked how many states I've lived in. Mentioned quite a lot.
PH interviewers weren't smiling.
P.S. I'm a Chemical Engineering applicant with experience in Drilling Fluids Engineering (which is a subset of Petroleum Engineering). I tried to steer them to my comfort zone, but they kept it CHEM ENG!
i am a mechanical engineering applicant GT, i was just plain lucky, what i observed is that the two men in the interview panel one asked me current affairs questions while the other asked me technical questions. the man asking me technical questions was reading out the questions from his system, like pool of questions pretyped in his system, he read the first question 1. is cast iron a brittle material? i answered yes i now went into details why cast iron is a brittle material and the carbon content of cast iron. 2. between petrol, kerozine and diesel which is more volatile, i answered petrol, i couldnt remember the third question but its a basic engineering question. the current affairs man also asked me 1. who is senate president of FRN, i answered Dr. bukola saraki, 2. how many geopolitical zones do we have and name them, i answered 6. and i named them. Do you have any question for us, i have already jotted down few questions, i asked them 'what is a typical day for a mechanical engineer at DPR? then we went into discussion bla bla bla. the first guy looked at me and asked me "you this boys from far north, you dont like going to the south to work, if we employ you and post you to south you will start complaining, i hope you are not that type. i smiled and said i dont mind being posted to the middle of nowhere so far its DPR, they all laughed and wished me luck. its all luck, had it been he read some tough questions, the tune wud have changed. may God help us 2 Likes |

@Marvel,
What do you see to this.
First my field of study BSc.Engineeing Physics and applied for Physicist/Geophysicist position as that is the only position that applies to me.
My interview goes thus and am still really baffles with it coz people have said they asked them many questions, but mine is like this...
Got there and have the introductory speech. Then the next question was the technical part, asking me to tell them about principle behind boiling which I took tym to explain and got deeper, yes it is a satisfactory and direct answer, after which the man said thank you for letting them, but that he will ask me a question that is difficult too, which is the current affair part. Asked me where I was born, the particular LG, and then ask me to tell me who created the LG, with the hope that I will fail it, thank to God something just ask me to browse it on my way to the venue, so I told him the answer and he was dazed. Eventually with that response, he told me he doesn't have any questions again for, me the other person ask back question from technical part which I have answered to see if am sure of what I said, and I told him yes, ask again and told him am sure... So I then said any more questions, to which the three said no more questions for me.
NB. I don't want to state what I perceived them discussing before I leave, and the other man inputting score, I perceived it is positive, although I cannot tell the real thing... But he then adviced that with my grade and everything, I should work towards engaging myself with a strong professional body, to which I told him am looking forward to joining NSE.
I said this to Jez say that there could Jez be many things they the interviewer are looking at... I only Jez hope all works well for one...

#Amoptimistic Firstly, with regards to your discipline against the position applied for is ok since it was clearly stated. You handled the technical and General question part pretty well but you shouldn’t have asked if they had further questions for you. You may have given them the impression that you were the over confident and proud type. By so doing, some employers may feel uncomfortable about it (my thought). The interviewers were nice to most candidates to enable them give their best. That is what they were trained to do so for weeks. For me, yours was ok. Don’t dwell so much on the interview, you did your best and leave the rest to God. 2 Likes |
