jpepper: @jpepper, while you wait for elders in the house to provide a well detailed guide to your requests, let me give a try my own little way. I know for sure that both your parents' applications can be treated together regardless the route(paper or online). The trick lies in the answers you provide when answering the questionnaire. When your dad(primary applicant) is answering the questionnaire, it will get to a point where he'll be asked if he wants to submit an application for a family member, he has to pick 'YES' here. Then he should just follow thru till he'll be asked again if he wants to submit an application for another family member, then he will say NO, and then continue till the end. When done, a checklist will be generated for both him and your mom. I don't think it should be a problem that she's a Home-Maker. While I have never personally used such, I know it flies for USA application(if applying with hubby) so I believe it should work with Canada too. Your dad will just have to make sure his own Proof of Funds, Home ties et al satisfies the visa officer. In my opinion, given that your parents will be handling the most part of their application themselves, I'll suggest you consider the paper route so they won't have to deal with the stress of having to scan and fit documents to usual 4MB. As for your bank statement, sounds like a good idea if its included but I just don't know how to bring it in now especially because you're not the one inviting your dad who is the primary applicant. I'm thinking he can mention you in his "Introduction you" and perhaps provide your details that way. I don't know for sure, let the elders chip in. No of years issued for the visa is totally up to them. I have been issued 1year TRV before, and I have later been issued till passport expires. The VO's use their discretion and I believe thats down to how convinced they are by the applicant's profile. As of right now, if you want to go paper route(in Lagos), you will need to go to VFS office, then they will give you a date to come back for submission. Hope this helps. All the best to your folks. 1 Like |

Hello gurus in the house I need a sound advice. I want to relocate my family to Canada. Two kids plus their mum. The kids ages are 5 and 7. I have a very sound company with sound account (not boasting o). I intent to grant the kids scholarship through the Company while the mum serve as a guardian since they are very young. My questions now are: 1. Would this plan above fly; 2. Is there school for kids in Canada that is not too expensive; 3. What kind of Visa would be suitable for this plan; 4. Should we go for a visit first to get their school, then return back to apply for study permit 5. What more............ Thanks in anticipation 1 Like |

Hello, fellow Nairalanders. A very Happy Fathers' Day to you all. I have been searching for a while now and think I have finally landed on the right thread. I must also commend the great job you guys are doing here. I would appreciate your help with a few questions I have. I already applied twice for a Canadian TRV and have been turned down both times. The reasons given the first time, were 'Travel History' & 'Purpose of Visit' while the second was 'Personal Asset & Financial Situation'. Anyway, I actually did present enough funds invested in Treasury Bills (NGN5M) and stated in my appplication that I was budgetting about CAD3,000 for the trip of 10 days! On the other hand, I however failed to present my land papers so I can say they actually got me good from the 'Personl Asset' angle. The land is in the village and I would have to start from the scratch acquring the necessary land papers. I simply can't start this process given the limited time I have to make this trip. On the other hand, my mum has an already surveyed land in her name and seeing that I am her only offspring, is ready to have that transferred to me. Is this okay? If so, what's the best way to go about getting the necessary transfer documents? Will a sworn affidavit of transfer suffice? I would really appreciate your help with this, guys. |

tobeeme:Get a lawyer to prepare a deed of gift/donation/transfer for you. If the land is already registered in the state land registry, you can proceed to get the consent form and approval of deed. |
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by ladylco: 12:24pm On Jun 17, 2018 |
jpepper: Go ahead and apply online for them. The application will have same profile as long as you create a single profile for them, only that your dad will be recognised as the principal applicant. If feel online is their best bet as long as all relevant docs are submitted. I did same for my parents and they got their visas and their applications were treated on a single profiles. Your being a PR holder will even be an added ad vantage for them especially ur mom, just that their application muSt be document tight then vola the visas are theirs. All the best |

tobeeme: If you can request for the GCMS report for both applications it will do u good. Same reasons were stated for my sister until we requested for her GCMS report and therein lays the true pic of her refusal otherwise we wud have just keep reapplying without addressing the main reason for refusal and she wud have just be getting refused |

Agbaletu: Thank you so much Agbaletu, for the lightning fast response. All I know for now is that she has a land survey document dated March 1988. I'll act accordingly. Many thanks once again. |

ladylco: Thankyou, ladylco. I already did that for the second refusal only because I pretty much covered the concerns of the first refusal on my letter of explanation. I just decided to get the ball rolling with the land papers while we await the Access to Information & Privacy report. 1 Like |

Are you applying to visit a family/friend or for tourism?in your personal bank statement, how much did u present as balance? I think the $3000 is too small tobeeme: |
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by tobeeme: 6:45pm On Jun 17, 2018 |
gg4real: Hello gg4real. Of course, $3,000 is way too small an amount to present as bank balance. I am sponsoring myself and presented my treasury bills investment of N5M as proof of funds and only just indicated on the application form that I was budgeting $3,000 for the ten-day trip. |

$3000 is way too small to present as bank balance or Bank transactions? This two things are two different things, $3000 is a big sum of money as a bank balance in Nigeria, but not enough as a bank transaction for the 3 or six months period. People get visas on 200k bank balance. Dont be derailed, order your GCMNOTES. tobeeme: |

I think you should apply for visit visa, visit the schools and get admission for them and then come back and apply for study permits for them. However, considering their ages you might not be given. Another option is to buy property there or do the skilled immigration. wxyz1: 1 Like |

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by gg4real: 7:08am On Jun 18, 2018 |
I understand the 5m is in treasury bill but I mean in your personal bank account statement which u press ted, how much did you have as balance and is your account well run? The VO wasn't probably interested in your treasury bill but I think personal bank statement would have been better but you can only use your treasury bill as a support to show proof of fund. tobeeme: |

gg4real: Thank you very much I really appreciate.. I have downloaded the pdf form after I finish filling it and validate it how do I go about it please, I mean should I go direct to the Vfs office with all my documents to submit them there, and how do I pay my visa fee I see it’s not like USA that I have to go to GT bank to pay there. |
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by gg4real: 11:04am On Jun 18, 2018 |
Yes you may visit vfs with all your complete docs and as for paying of the visa fee, you can pay with cash at vfs and at the same time do your biometric. mafioso2: 1 Like |

gg4real: I have just one account with which I carry out all my day-to-day transactions and at the time of application, it had a balance of about NGN200K which I presented. It's possible (and I had also thought about it) that the VO who processed the second application, disregarded the T-Bills investment even though the certificate gave the date of liquidation. So I'm thinking to wait until when the investment liquidates and the sum is paid back into my account before reapplying, along with the land gift deed which I have already started work on. |

Hello Ladylco. Are you a Canadian PR or citizen? If so, did you do the supervisa or regular visit visa for your parents? I am a citizen and would like to apply for my parents to come visit me but they only plan on coming for 3 weeks because of other engagements. I am the only one in Canada, the rest of my siblings, nephews and nieces are all in Nigeria. I prefer to apply for a visit visa for them but I'm worried they may get refused. Now for the supervisa, the insurance for them is costing about $5000 which Is alot especially if they r only coming for 3 weeks. What do you think? 1 Like |

Hi Everyone! I'm a novice and I want to apply for Canada Visiting Visa which intend doing myself. I just have so few questions after reading through some pages on this trend. 1. At the VFS office do I submit all my documents and passport or I only scan my documents and drop my passport? ( I haven't being to any VFS center before) 2. Can I get to do my biometric that same day of submitting? 3. I plan of going to Canada by July ending, applying this month can it still be possible to still achieve my July ending targets? I really do appreciate if someone can answer my questions |
