I believe Marvel64. I noticed a little change in my portable between end of March and May. I'm tired of any permution and combination, let them just call successful candidates so that we can rest. Talking about average score, a candidate with 50% can still get the job by divine grace especially if other candidates from his state did not do well. #God's mercy and grace 2 Likes |

Good morning guys, Let me make this clear The Candidates that are competing for a particular position must be among the best in their respectives states. It’s one thing to be among the best in your state, it’s another to be selected as one of the best for the position applied for. Have a nice day! 1 Like |

Marvel64: Good morning. I was wondering if there are HR departments/personnel in all DPR offices nationwide, or if the function is only in existence at the HQ in Lagos? Thanks. 2 Likes |

How can one gauge how others with different course of study were rated owing to the fact that we were interviewed by different interviewers with different parameters and judgement of ratings. Did DPR make it fair that they were standards in place for rating or grading and not basically subjective judgement. @Marvel, please respond. |
Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by Nobody: 9:15am On Jun 18, 2018 |
pedroito: Prior to the intervew start date, the interviewers were trained for the assessment of candidates. They were told what to look out for and how it will be graded on the computer system and not a subjective judgement. |

pedroito: The point is, even when there are standard indices for rating individual performances, there is no standard perception index for the individual panelists. Hence, there is a high probability of discrepancy( no matter how little) in scoring an individual's performance before two or more different panels. An individual's performance rating is subject to the perception of the panel assessing him, irrespective of the set criteria. 1 Like |
Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by Nobody: 10:23am On Jun 18, 2018 |
dprpikin: Each candidates profile had a specific number of questions and answers provided to guide the interviewer. If you don’t get the questions right or don’t answer at all, you will loose points. They were trained so the interview sessions would be more interactive and dramatic. That explains why DPR didn’t use a single panel to assess 3000+. The interviewers knew what they were looking out for. |

Marvel64:I now see that the selection process will be very stressful. What happens if a candidate who applied for petroleum engineering position with 60% but he happens to be the best from his state. However, many other candidates from othe state who applied for this position did better than him? |
Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by jidex4life: 10:30am On Jun 18, 2018 |
Asapcy:if the OND guys were asked complete 50 questions in their exam and we graduate trainee and experienced hire were asked 45 questions and knowing fully well that DPR had banks of questions to set 50 questions for us then why 45 questions. In my own opinion am thinking the CBT test is 45*2= 90 points and interview score is 10 points making a total of 100 points |

Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by Nobody: 10:36am On Jun 18, 2018 |
Onyiridike: Firstly, the other candidates that did better than the candidate with 60% have to be among the best in their respective states. When that is confirmed I.e if all or most of them were among the best in their states, they can now compete for the Petroleum Engineering position. |

Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by dprpikin: 11:08am On Jun 18, 2018 |
Marvel64: I understand you 100%. But remember you are not expected to qoute the benchmark answers provided for each question word for word. So, the panelists will still rely on their personal judgments to determine how close to or far away you are from the provided answer. Hence, the issue of perception. If, for instance, the maximum score for a given question is 10. After answering the question before a particular set of panelists, they may agree to award you 8 mark, while before another group of panelists your answer would have attracted, let say, 9 marks. |

Onyiridike: According to the info from the FCC website, each position is shared among the six geopolitical zones, albeit not equally. When an individual scales through his State's competition, he then has to compete with people from his zone for the slots allocated to them. |

Onyiridike: Example Lets assume there are nine slots allocated to Ekiti state. From the pool of candidates, nine were selected as the best from the state. Assuming only 3 out of the nine candidates from Ekiti couldn’t compete for positions with others from their respective states confirmed to be amongst the highest. The 3 slots will vacant and given to stakeholders. Therefore only 6 from Ekiti state made it on merit. |
Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by dprpikin: 11:34am On Jun 18, 2018 |
Onyiridike: Each State must have candidates on merit, unless they cannot furnish, at least one candidate for most of the positions. Remember, it is the total number of slots available to each zone that would be shared among the member States. The only thing is that when a candidate at the top in his State fails at the zonal level, the next candidate closest to the cutoff point is promoted(i.e if the position he applied for has not already been considered). So the promotion continues until all the States are duly represented. |
