against iceland rohr should deploy the 3-5-2 formation and if done we stand a huge chance winning the match.the icelanders are compact and highly disciplined side but lacks creativity will lack creativity to subdue our midfield if we have move bodies there. i forsee them relying mainly on dead balls to score. iwobi and iheanacho if paired together up front will cause a lot of problems to the iceland defenders with their speed, understanding and trickerery. mikel and ndidi should shield the back 3 whereas the former will serve as an auxiliary centre back then etebo with is lungs and power should be deployed as a box to box midfielder. moses should play as a left wingback while ebuehi should be the right wingback. the trio of ekong, balogun and ogu should be the central defenders.

We were doing well before we conceded that own goal. Ighalo did have few chances but his shots lacks power. Even Iwobi hits them more than he does and he grased out quickly and stopped pressing.

Thank you my man. I had to quote this and share it.
So many teams have won tournaments despite not being the best. It's all in the collective mind of the people. Rhor failed us when it mattered most: motivating this team. Why tell them that they're average and hence cannot win?

Was Portugal not avearage when they won Euro? Was Greece not average? Was Porto not average?Who's Chile compared to Brazil and Argentina yet they won back to back trophy? Real Madrid was not even the best team this past two seasons. They only won because they believe they can do it (outside factors may have contributed but self believe was paramount).

I was seriously demoralized. The lost was painful. The manner it came was even more painful. Then the comments from the number person we look up to was even far more painful.

If you were a club mgt, will you go for a below average player in transfer window? If we were that average why was it possible breeze through the qualifiers with so much ease? If we were average why didn't we allow Zambia or even Cameroon to rep Africa? It's disgusting.

Each time we loose Rhor is always coming up with excuse and that excuse has never been his own error in judgement.
We were busy here fighting the negativity of our own resident pessimists but we failed to detect the more serious negativity of Rohr. Excuses are the favorite sport of losers and weaklings.

We are average. FACT. but does that mean we should get run over? No. And other less fancied teams have proven to us that a WC team should fight. It's the WC for God sakes. Serve up something!!

You said self believe is paramount. Bro, you just re-echoed the first of the seven hermetic principles which is mentality. Once the mental frame work is wrong, it's just a matter of time before everything collapses. If it is right, it's just a matter of time for everything to pull through.
I repeat:Rohr has poisoned the mind of the team.

Iwobi is the key to us unlocking any defense. Mikel seems to be only good with long balls which are only effective against African sides. Our opponents are taller than us. I hope Rohr deploys Iwobi to the AMF or Pair him with Nacho up front.

"The treatment of the Super Eagles, after only their first match, is why people are absolutely terrified to fail in Nigeria!

It is a game, you win some, you lose some- but we must be committed in our support for our national team. #NaijaAllTheWay"

I laugh at the many shameful comments condemning this team. It is a pity.
So if your child comes back feeling sad after having a bad day in his first paper at school, what you will do is to castigate him and bring him down abi... Especially when this same child is one that has shone in previous classes before now.
What motivation is he expected to carry into his next paper when the reaction is calling him a failure already and a waste of space, unserious and all.

This is really really good. This loss has exposed us all. Well done people. Now I know the extent to which each and every moniker can stand by this team. smiley

I LOVE IT.
But
1.I will prefare Moses to play the left wing back, he has speed loves to run with the ball and is a treat going forward and can also recover faster than Idowu when he loses the ball.
2.Etebo is needed in that midfield to add steel to it, so I will play a trio of Etebo-Mikel-Ndidi along side Moses and Ebuehi as the two wing backs.
3. IWOBI will play along side Iheanacho in a false Nine system.

We can beat any team with this formation if the boys are determined and bullish in their approach

EBUEHI-NDIDI-MIKEL-ETEBO-MOSES

I am not talking player vs player. I am talking of bringing in players that can inject fires into the team and make it stronger as a unit. A team of big heart warriors is what I am driving at.

Komekn says even if you are in Odogbolu it doesn't matter, what matters is the heart and mentality/determination.... That playing at the WC is motivation enough... But he will do a 360 degrees turn when talking about our own young top talents showing these traits even though they may not be in the Big Five leagues just yet. This is why I find it all funny and ironic.

The composition of a team of winners is not always gonna be a cast of those in the best sides... It will sometimes or most times have those special young players who bring a lot to the team yet are still rising in club football and even those maybe even playing football in some obscure league.

I stand for equity, fair-play, transparency, and a level playing field. An objective unit of measurement for all players assessment and selection
.

Instead what we have is subjective personal judgement based on double standard parameters in player selection.

Youth U17 football is not senior professional football even in England the larger majority of boys who play U17 end up not playing professional football.

However, we assume that once you have played U17 then you have made it and even use it as a measure for the present continous. Leveraging past glories for present quality measurement.

Your approach is divisive and excludes based on your bigoted prejudiced discrimination towards players not born in Nigeria. You essentially call them Non - Nigerians that debased approach is where tribalism, nepotism and favouritism are birthed.

In a sense the problem with our country.

You use the term "Our own" and that essentially excludes people like me and players not born in Nigeria. It's the same reasoning we vote for corrupt politicians who fleece us dry because they are "Our own" so somebody comes from my village who is intrinsically corrupt and devoid of any righteousness I therefore vote for them because they are "Our own".

The attributes of heart = determination, passion, desire, belief and the will to win are not the exclusive preserve of youthful or older players or is determined by the league you play in. Nonetheless, you can not substitute these still essential ingredients for the other ingredients of technical ability, athleticism, football intelligence and team work, you need them all.

Then can you tell me how you measure these most subjective of attributes, that are extremely fluid and continously changing depending on circumstances.

The Odogbolu comparison is on the subject of motivation not player quality, so keep matters in context.

A team of Fired up never say die "big heart warriors" will amount to nothing without quality. It's the application of the aforementioned right attitude attributes to your existing top quality football ability, that is what will give you VICTORY.

When I see supposed youth like yourself not holding on to the attributes of righteousness and fair-play. I'm not suprised, unfortunately we have very few examples in our every day lives in Nigeria of these most noble of attributes . So it seems difficult for many like yourself to comprehend.

I disagree with you strongly.

KC will not have the physicality to trouble the Icelandic defence. Furthermore, KC is not a player to go it alone he may try to use pace which he has but it's not blistering add to that he is not that comfortable using skill one on one to beat his man.

Playing KC behind Ighalo is more effective.

The Icelandic team is very physical we will to be Robust. I haven't seen much of Simi so Im not sure if he could pair with Ighalo. Correct me if wrong he doesn't seem particularly fast or tricky.

Mikel is a better option in DM with Etebo and Ndidi more forward facing.

Giving Ebuehi the option to use his pace to trouble the Icelandic defence.

I am looking at the 3-5-2 formation I expect early substitutions to keep up a relentless pace and attack until the last minute of extra time.

I see no place for Shehu in this formation even as a sub. Ogu big question marks on his pace however, I watched Ekong and Balogun get bullied by the physicality of the Croatians. In this regard I am almost certain NOBODY will bully Ogu.

It's now ALL or NOTHING it has to be ALL OUT ATTACK. Otherwise na house we deh go.

We don't have to use strength to break defences we need clever attackers. Till the time Ighalo was subbed off he never won a single ball with his strength. Of what use is strength when you can't use it. We don't have strikers like Costa that will fight for every aerial lballs. You will only see Ighalo standing and backing defenders.

If Rohr starts him, we will not score.

I suggest we use this formation for the 3-5-2. It slightly similar to the formation The Good Joe suggested a few weeks ago but I modified it a little. I put Balogun in the middle because he seems to struggle against players with pace. Iheanacho is on the left because I noticed he likes to shoot with his left foot, but he and Moses can switch positions if its most suitible for the team.
