Somebody is laying foundation for many streets named after Ibo's town in Port Harcourt to be renamed. Mark my words a precedent is about being set.

Once a thing, road or organization has been known for a certain name, even if such a name is latter changed, people will still be calling the former name forever. Take for instance NEPA. Even when it changed to PHCN and up till now with various DISCOs, people still call NEPA when ever electricity is being discussed.
Abakaliki street will still be called that old name because of easy description.

This is really sad and it just shows how petty some Nigerian governors can be. Umahi or Ebonyi state have no right to interfere with what happens i Anambra state. Anambra can decide to name and rename any street if they like.

The renaming won't change anything. People will still refer to it as Abakiliki street till forever.
After all, the renaming of Ezi Elias in Enugu-Ukwu Anambra state to 'Ezi Okpala NRI' didn't change anything. People still refer to it as 'Ezi Elias' till today after many years of its renaming.

Abakiliki is the most popular street in Awka due to its boisterous night life and swarming of runz girls. It is the red light district of Awka. It won't chanfe.

Rivalry, agreement and disagreement are inevitable because those things are characteristics of human being. Once you remove the aforementioned, then humanity seize to exist.

Even here in Yoruba land, the discrimination is more stronger that we thought. Ife and Modakeke no dey take eyes see each other, Ife don't marry Modakeke and vice versa.
What of Ogun, some of my people are afraid to marry Ogun man due to juju . As for Ijebu, we see them as lesser Yorubas and have no regards for them.
I don't want to discuss about Yoruba Christians vs Yoruba Muslims because even kids can read the handwriting on the wall concerning such matter ..

Summary: Every tribe has internal crisis, but always quick to come together and fight their common enemies.
God bless you abundantly for this that you wrote.. I've always thought I'm the only one that's aware of this human behavior anomaly but I now know someone else that shares the same view as me.. We pay more attention on hating ourselves as human, we only need a difference as little as skin colour before we start discriminating and profiling each other... I sincerely hope we move pass this stage as soon as possible so the coming generations won't meet congealed hatred and intolerance that we harbour in our minds to our perceived 'enemies'

My brother, this type of unguarded vituperation is the reason other ethnic nationalities hate us (igbo) with passion. You have now summeringly concluded that all criminals activities and odd jobs in Anambra are done by an ebonyians. I think you need to think bettrr before you write.

This is what you have when your leaders share clueless about what it means to lead. They are worried about a street and not about the whereabouts of Kanu or the thousands of men and women killed and detained for agitating for their freedom.

Do you hear laughter...I do, laughter of Igbo clowns that call themselves Honorable and Governor...

umahi is wrong....

Anambra state government has right to rename any street.....

Ebonyi can go back and rename any street named after anambra
Think again oo.
Almost all the major streets in Abakaliki metropolis is named after prominent Anambra indigenes and major towns.
Maybe it is a ploy by Ebonyi state government to rename all those streets and avenues to proper Ebonyi names.

Many Igbo Streets and town names have been adulterated by the addition of an R prefix to change the Igbo meaning in Rivers State,so there is nothing new in that..

i support they can't dictate what name you choose for your state, but saying they're trashing ur town. I don't accept that Do You know that 80% of criminals and Ritualist in Enugu state today are from Anambra and that Anambra have carried igbos in his shoulder is laughable. No doubt, Anambra State is Good But 90% of pple that made Anambra what it is today are pple frm other state expecially Enugu pple. You can go to Onitsha Main Market, Ose Okwuodu, Iweka E.t.c you can count how many Anambarian is there doing business. The only thing Anambra has contributed mostly in is soiling the name of Igbos. So don't make it look like Anambarians are ahead of every Igbo state 'cause it's impossible.

Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Anambra and Enugu states are brothers by blood and so shall it remain forever. Minor disagreements must happen but we always settle and live in peace and harmony always. None of these states hate each other and we intermarry as one people.

All attempts by outsiders to divide us must always fail.
Only Ebonyi, IMO, abia, anmbra and Enugu? What about the rest of Biafra land like Benue and Niger delta?
