motherfucker: Abegi let me hear word! Yen yen yen yen bullllls.hiiiit!!!! How many of you weed smokers smoke it BECAUSE you don't want to have cancer and to cure epilepsy. Miracle plant kee you there. What happened to our local bitter leaf, moringa leaf, aloe vera and the many many many too numerous to mention miracle plants we have in our home land if INDEED it is for health purposes. You, the Canadian kids and 99% of those who take it do so TO GET HIGHHHH so spare me that bull.crap of health blablabla. Their is also cry for cocaine legalisation in America because it is not regulated and controlled yet so many people in the US get access to it in secret making the US loose billions in dollars and the kids hiding and having overdose which is killing them in large numbers. That is why even though it is a killer, it will make a tiny bit of minuscule sense to bring it to the open by legalizing it like Canada has done with Igbo weed. Same argument is being made about induced abortion. The act is BAD but legalizing it will mean our young girls will stop dying in large numbers from complications caused by quackery as they do it hush hush in illegal places. The thinking behind Canada legalizing it is not your warped health logic, you hear. Talking about ignorance, you are the ignorant one, niccur. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Two points from me: 1 Canada is not only the second country to legalize Marijuana, WEED HAS BEEN LEGALLY SOLD AND SMOKED IN THE NETHERLANDS! 2. Marijuana is scientifically proven to be NON ADDICTIVE... it contains no addictive substance which you can stop smoking any time you decide to! 2 Likes |

Basically, the goverment wants to control the billion dollar illegal weed industry by becoming the drug dealer. The next thing to be legalized would be prostitution, so that prostitutes can be taxed and government would become the p.i.m.p. 1 Like |

salford1:exactly!.. they aren't legalizing it because of any health bla bla bla, they can even extract whatever is in it if it's all about the health bullsshit junkies around here make noise about. Thw government is eyeing the billions they're 'supposedly' losing. If you've watched Narcos the series, you'd notice the US only came in because billions was leaving the USA to Columbia. It's all about the money...Here the government wants to be their supplier, their dealer and all... weed government. 1 Like |

adorable29: Don't be so ignorant. It's a maple leaf dear. Marijuana is a miraculously beneficial plant. If 100 years or so ago the paper industry didn't lobby the US govt to criminalise Marijuana so many forests would have been preserved. Many classic paintings were made on canvases made from the same hemp. Government like Nigeria are against it because it unifies people. Even if banned as a drug, Marijuana as hemp fibre alone is highly beneficial. (Forgive the pun) 2 Likes |

adorable29: Alcohol is 5 times more hazardous to the health than cannabis, yet its legal. Cigarette is 20 times more hazardous, yet it's legal even though it's regarded as a class C drug. Cannabis has been proven again and again to be very effective in treating cancer hence medical marijuana. Even smoking pot reduces the chances of cancer too. So which normal and non-hypocritical government wont legalize it, when the benefits is clearly more. Moreover regulating it will ensure that it's not abused(instead of buying 500 grams , you get 30 grams as in the case of canada) and the criminality associated with it will be reduced. Very smart move from the Canadian government, considering the fact that they must have done their findings before reaching such conclusions. 1 Like |

Riversides2003: It's doesn't have any thing to do with him being young, more than half of US states have legalized it already. Netherlands legalized it more than 10 years ago, yet they have fewer number of homeless and depressed as you claim. Bros it's worth knowing that marijuana don't have any thing to do with depression and homelessness, instead it even helps manage depression. Depression and homelessness is as a result of bad governance and economy, but because of our hypocritical attitude here in Africa especially, we tend to associate it with marijuana use. And hence denying those who consume it openly their deserved opportunity to earn a life, where as many of us who are comfortable do it in the secret. Am not speaking for every other drug, just marijuana. 1 Like |

Is thread like this that makes me giggle at the magnitude of ignorance and cluelessness of Nigerians/nairalanders. Canadians have one of the best welfare program in the world couple with free medicals for their citizens and very high literacy level. They decide to legalize medical marijuana after years of deliberation and research, and some lowlifes in a third world country where majority find it difficult to put something in their belly deem it fit to question their decision. Just so you know, it is almost like a sin for any Canadian to go to bed hungry (unless he or she wants) cos there is food bank everywhere where they give food free of charge. Canadians are very open minded and whether the government legalize it or not, a handful of them already smoke marijuana recreationally, and guess what, they have a very low national homicide rate of 1.68 per 100,000, and one can hardly see mentally deranged person walking freely on the street (I haven't seen one since I've been in the country for almost a decade) unlike in Nigeria where vast majority are mad people walking freely on the street. One ignoramus even have the audacity to say Canada flag has orange marijuana leaf in the middle. Well, the leaf is called maple leaf just in case you don't know "Mr. I'm not that smart". Nigerians and their hypocrisy smh. Please make una keep una advice for the upliftment of Country that has no direction for now. I love Nigeria but we need a massive enlightenment and brain formatting of many of the populace to move forward. God bless the Canadian government for the bold step forward, and may God guide Nigeria to the right direction 4 Likes |

Good news! It is about time we legalize marijuana farming and export in this country. This will bring in foreign exchange and create more employment opportunity. |
