Wow! Never knew the American market never favoured him.
I think I have read 3 or 4 of his books but I can only remember the title of 2;
You Have Yourself A Deal
Goldfish Have No Hiding Place

zicoraads:

Anyone who had plenty then was automatically a boss grin

We used to trade them a lot in school. And the ladies on the covers was the major reason why we loved them that much grin

Lol. So true. I went to a military school so taking them to school and risk being caught was a no-no.

How could you explain that a book with such cover was actually innocent and interesting.

So many books shaped my childhood.

Enid Blyton, Nancy Drew mysteries, Famous Five, Secret Seven...chai... Those were the days.

These days everybody is glued to their phones, no more reading. embarassed

amazing and gripping books. Still remember The vulture is a patient bird. quote author=MartinCorridon post=68645659] My favourite characters :

1. Mark Girland (a James Bond 007 clone )

2. Martin Corridon ( the annoying guy - my moniker)

3. Steve Harmas ( "pleasantly ugly" private eye)

4. Tom Lepski ; who appeared the most.

5. Verne Baird - the ice-cold killer in the Fast Buck

On this list, 9,74,91 & 92 are ONLY ones i haven't read.

I might still order in bulk for collection purposes.

I paid $77 for the Mark Girland Omnibus because it was so rare

I've read 26 from that list. Our indomie generation who are allergic to reading even their academic books don't know anything about Chase novel.
It's not about indomie generation bro. Mind you, not everyone enjoys reading literary works, and it's no dent to their intelligence because pleasure comes in various forms.

Really loved reading the James Hardley Chase novels. As a kid my Dad had a whole lot of collection of the chase novels.i was so addicted to it that the ones my dad didnt have i would rush to the bookshop to buycheesy. One of my favourite chase villians was Lu Silk the assasin who works for the German bilioniare business man Herman Randnitz and of course the Russian soviet secret agent Malik...who was Mark Girland's nemesis and my favourite paradise city detective First Grade Tom Lepski with his nagging wife carolcheesy. Op do u also know dat Hardley Chase for all his obsession about the USA had only been to the USA once? And he made dat trip quite late in his lifetime. Also most of the american slangs he used in his novels were picked from encyclopeadeas plus majority of the american cities he wrote about like paradise city were just fictitious cities he made up from his mind.Anyway indomie kids born in the year 2005 wont know what is James Hardley Chasecheesy. So indomie kids keep ur ears to the ground and learn about the maestro called James Hardley Chasecheesy.

My dad bought two boxes of his books for me from india when I was born
I grew up giving them away until pry 4 when I started reading them
I wish I kept most of my copies

Greedy neighbours saw I didn't know anything
And kept coming to collect them from me
It shaped my life

Waoh, slept and woke up with his novels between 93 - 98. I was addicted to James Hadley Chase novels.

“An ear to the ground”
“The vulture is a patient bird”
“ Just a matter of time”

jhc is still the best novel writter to me
action packed thriller novels
he taught me one important lesson
'never judge a book by its cover'
his books are always with a sexy woman on the front cover you will think its a novel about sex and all.
My alfa friend used to read it like he's reading for an exam.he will wrap the book with a calendar.
Jhc rocks

Almost all his books in the 80s. He was a mentor that was never seen. He nade me to excel in the use of English language. Sadly, his works could not hold me again when i discovered the works of Sydney Sheldon, Harold Robbins and this man whose works were solely devoted to legal matters. World has changed now, our youths are only interested in in snap chat, Instagram etc etc. I'm not blaming them. Maybe all these will also become history in another 30 years time
