Fellow Eagalians, tomorrow, Argentina will face Croatia. What result can we realistically hope for. An Argentian win?

This is how Nigeria can win:-

With Ighalo always running to the back of defenders (with the hope that the defender misses the ball before and for him to get a chance) and not drifting into midfield enough to receive the ball( thereby making wingers suffer or lose balls trying to dribble) and help coordinate play, he should be benched for Etebo. How can the team have upto 7 passes in the final third to open up opponents defense without the striker coming near to receive the ball and play? Ighalo is only interested in free finishing and not helping the team to coordinate by constantly standing in front of defenders to contest, receive, beat defender or pass to others. When last did he score or give an assist with his amateurish secondary school wrong running-to-the-back-of-defenders positioning style?

Moses should play and switch between 11, 8 and 7 instead of permanent 7 like he did the last time likewise Iwobi.

Mikel plays better as a holding 10 (to double the 4 when under attack, throw accurate long balls or hold the ball just long enough for the team to transition to attack) than as 8.

Nacho as 7 to cut in for a short or a pass.

Its a shame that Rohr didnt introduce Ebuehi the last time.

Why is it so hard for the team to defend or score with set pieces? Lack of adequate training in that area?

It is not about winning or loosing. It is about the way they play. Show grit, show determination, fight, show passion. This is what Nigerians want. I can bet that if those guys play very well and still loose, nobody will blame them. We are Nigerians we hate timid soccer, attack them, counter attack them, fight for every second ball, give your all on the pitch for your country. That's all we need, loose or win. Your opponent has the ball in their 18yard box and naija boys are running back to defend. Defend what please! Men!! we showed too much respect to that rubbish Croatia team that is what is paining me the most.

100% correct.

However, What is the nature of our testing.

Senegalese players are proven, tried and tested why because they OVERWHELMING MAJORITY play week in week out in the French league 1.

Senegal just has to select from a HUGE POOL you will hardly find any academy players in thier set up. The only issue they have nobody wants to be a goalkeeper.

A team than can leave out Demba Ba and Papa Cisse who have decided to chop Chinese money. Has real strength in depth.

Imagine we had Demba Ba and Cisse.

All this stems from Senegals relationship with France i.

Demba ba and cisse time don pass okay, both players are 33 already

If you know about Senegal or you know their team you will not talk about demba ba and cisse, their time is up for the national team bro,it's just like you are calling for martins to be involved in super eagles.

You don't follow their players, you are mentioning players that's has past their best

Chriskels is actually 100% correct Elder Kog. Make we talk am as e dey go down. No be about Naija don suffer. It is actually not news that Senegal have the better squad than we do.

Only Ndidi and Iwobi can make the Senegal XI from our own Starting XI. Mikel of China won't (but a Mikel of Chelsea would have). Victor Moses will be benched for Mane. And if we go to our bench, Kelechi and Ebuehi too can make the Senegalese side's XI. For Kelechi, it is if they play 4-3-3 with Mane, Kelechi and Niang/Balde. Kelechi is still the best and most beastly finisher even in the midst of Senegal's centre forward options.

On the overall, Senegal have the better players and are covered in real Euro flavor and stardust. But Nigeria is still rising with the super abundance of quality young talents coming through. Our time is coming. We drew this same Senegal in a friendly not so long ago. But until then, we got a job to do against Iceland. It is a game for them (the players and technical crew) to rise and rewrite the stars of their campaign in Russia or a game for them to play like wimps again and die. The choice is theirs.

Kai Chris, naija don't suffered, hope to see them redeemed their image against Iceland cos this comparison dey make me shake head o.

Our group is the most tricky, no team is guaranteed to progress.

A win for Croatia will send them through. Leaving Argentina with one point. Going into their last group match.
A draw for both sides will put one of Croatia.'s foot in the next round. Leaving Argentina with two points.

A win for Argentina will see them top the group with 4points irrespective of Goal difference closely followed by Croatia with three. That is if we don't loose to Iceland.

So the best result is that we win our own matches.

Any which way, our destiny is still in our hands. We need to go out there and get the job done. Irrespective of the result of other group fixture. We should go out there to win the remaining two matches and that alone will guarantee us a place in the second round.

You can prove me wrong bro.

Salif and koulibaly are better than BaloKong. Idowu has nothing on Sabaly neither does Shehu on Wague. Come to the middle, Etebo, Onazi etc have nothing on both Kouyate and n'diaye of Villarreal. Only Ndidi can stand to be counted here. In the attacking midfield, iwobi can stake a claim but on the wings, the likes of Musa have nothing on Balde, Mane et al, then strikers, Ighalo can only dream of putting half the show Niang put.

But if Cisse had Kelechi and decided to tweak his formation, he might have the trio of Mane, Kelechi and Niang starting for him to give him more lethal front. Niang is a knock down master with this strength and height which could benefit the left leg of Iheanacho. Otherwise, I am sorry KC also can't start for them.

You're most especially right at the bolded

In every aspect; discipline, positioning, bravery, marking, tackling

somehow:

How can you be comparing work that is done to earn profit for the company with repping your country?

The worldcup is not a place where countries go to make money, infact governments even spend more to get their team ready compared to the financial gains. It's for pride, recognition and collective growth.

That you can even compare repping your government in a sporting event where you are just there for max 1 month before going back to your clubside where you earn your weekly wage says alot about us in this country that sees money as god!

I guess Senegals are indians or hispanic? Please post any article here where they were induced with money to perform.

Then also tell us that of the other 3 African representative. It's a Nigerian thing and has less to the with being blacks.

Never heard of such with South Africans, Zambians et.c

Sir Somehow, I think Oga Mujtahida echoed your sentiment earlier, you are both very right about this being a Nigerian thing.

Hence the reason for Pinnick's hardwork to ensure that that an agreement is reached and every due is settled. He learnt from history since the bane of our performance in past editions had always being money money money.....

It is a pity that we are at this stage where our thinking is "since these boys have being paid their dues. there's no excuse for non-performance"

There's no winning tradition, victors mentality or innate desire to rule the world of football among our boys" Everything in Nigeria is linked to money. But I reiterate, it will be difficult for the boys to cultivate the winners mentality overnight just because of a defeat. It takes time and conscious effort. But since we have two games to go, lets see if the money motivation is enough

Portugal leads 1-0 against Morocco but that is not the main story. The main story is that Ronaldo just became the All-Time and stand alone leading Goalscorer of all time in International Football in Europe.

Only one man now has scored more international goals than Rinaldo and that man is Asian. The great Iranian legend, All Daei who featured at France '98.

I agree that we will beat Senegal with all their names. We drew them not quite long I recall in Barnet, London. When the chips were down in Africa, Senegal could not even overcome Cameroun.

But my own is this, I do not wish to measure the strengths and achievements of our Super Eagles by Senegal's standards. I wish to soar high and above them and all African teams and rub shoulders with the standards and Big guns of World football. This is our aim and we have the quality pool of talents coming through in addition to the best of the present squad to achieve that. We are still a force on the rise. Our time will come.

The only thing, we have to do something to check the excesses of our local coaches so they don’t make SE their enterprise when given too much powers. We need a consortium of the best indigenous coaches with each playing different roles that somehow complements and and at the same time checks the other. We have to work out a formula.
Bolowolowo:
I honestly envy Senegal. See as they succeed with an indigenous coach who understands what it means to be Senegalese, the struggles and what a world cup win would mean for the country. A white man would never experience such intense emotions. Remember our success under Keshi (God rest his soul)?? We must return to those days in Jesus name!!!)

Too bad we're suffering for the dangerous foundation we have laid. I wish we still have the likes of Taribo west, Yekini, Oliseh, Garbal Lawal, Sani Keita, Peter Rufai in the eagles. These are people who will die to see that they will a match.

The valuation of some of their players is quite stratospheric, a sharp contrast to ours. A guy like Koulibaly is worth $80M according to Napoli add Saido Mane $80M+. Add Badou Niang and Keita Balde who transfered to Monaco for €30M last season.
How much is our entire team worth?
so it is about the worth of our players? is that why we lost? abi you are just stating this as a matter of fact
