Then why did you jump in like a diver and comment when I didn't even need any explanation from you? Sebu Egbon and I were having a discussion. Wetin concern you if not that you carry am for mind.. Be deceiving yourself mister. cheesy Listen, Mister Joebie, the truth is that you are the one who take things here way too seriously. If not you will easily concede to making a weak point about how we know Africa's best and not throwing the childish jab of me knowing it all. Why are you this bothered by what I know? My boys won... I am excited. I recall you saying we won't make it pass Argentina. Hope you stand by your words. grin

Nigerian fans. I laugh. Hahahahahahahahaha

Joebie:
You don’t know my mind. I can’t carry that elementary stuff in my mind. We go win award for nauraland? U take this thread thing too seriously. I beg make we focus on the match.

Nigeria 2-0 Iceland player ratings: Ahmed Musa fires Super Eagles to win as Victor Moses shines

Gylfi Sigurdsson missed a penalty as Iceland were beaten in Group D

Nigeria sealed their first win of World Cup 2018 as they beat Iceland 2-0 in Group D courtesy of a Ahmed Musa brace.

After a first half that would be easily forgotten, the match sprung into life inside the first five minutes of the second period when Musa first home the opening goal with a wonderful finish.

The game was all but sealed when with 15 minutes to go as well when Musa got his second with a calm finish after rounding the goalkeeper and finishing well.

Gylfi Sigurdsson should have got one back for Iceland, but he fired his penalty woefully over the bar and the Super Eagles clinched the victory.

Here is how we rated the players:

Francis Uzoho - GK

Made a decent save from Sigurdsson's free kick, but only was really tested one more time in the first half as it was a pretty quiet opening 45 minutes.

Wasn't really tested throughout much of the second half as well, so a comfortable game. 6

Kenneth Omeruo - LCB

Coming into the side he made a decent start, attacking the ball well and winning tackles and headers. That continued in the second half as well as he really showed a lot of composure and strength. 7

William Troost-Ekong - RCB

Wasn't really given too much worry and his positioning was good throughout the encounter. It was an impressive display at the back from all three with the long throws dealt with well. 7

Leon Balogun - CB

Made a few crucial headers in the first half and held on to the Iceland attackers well, dealing with the long throws well and crosses into the box.

He was a real rock in the second half as well, plus he showed some good threat at the other end of the pitch. 8

Brian Idowu - LWB

Iceland really tried to attack down his side and a late yellow card in the first half meant that he was taken off at the break. 4

Victor Moses - RWB

Tried to get down the right wing in a position that Chelsea fans have become accustomed to seeing him in the past two seasons. However, poor final balls in the first half.

But that changed in the second half as he was a lot more positive and did really well for Musa's first goal. 7

Jon Obi Mikel - DCM

Held his position well in front of the back three and tried to find the strikers' feet with balls forward.

Looks so much more comfortable playing in the deeper role than further forward and provides excellent balance to the team. 7

Wilfred Ndidi - CM

Didn't really produce enough quality going forward and struggled to get into the game that much in the first half, although good defensively.

Was more positive in the second half with a rasping effort that forced the Iceland keeper into a save. 5

Oghenekaro Etebo - CM

Made some important defensive challenges, but not good enough going forward as well in the first half.

Almost changed that in the second half as he made a bursting run through and almost scored when he got his shot away. Was a lot better in the second half. 6

Showed some great pace at times, however not the quality there to link up with Iheanacho.

However, in the 50th his wonderful touch and finish gave Nigeria the lead. It was an excellent goal. He then got his second with another excellent finish. 9

Kelechi Iheanacho -CF

The Leicester City man showed some great movement, running in the channels to cause some issues for the centre-backs. Didn't have many chances himself though. 6

Substitutes

Tyronne Ebuehi

Played well for much of the second half but gave away a silly penalty that Sigurdsson missed. 5

Odion Ighalo

N/A

Alex Iwobi

Kudos to Gernot Rhor, really a flexible coach, used 433 against Croatia and got beat, goes ahead to drop Iwobi and brings in MUSA then change to a 352.
Warmest regards to him

My concern is what to do not to concede stupid penalty and dangerous free kicks in critical areas against Argentina.

Can we cleanly tame Messi and co like the Croats did without conceding penalty or free kicks in dangerous areas?

That's my biggest fear for the last match.

Argentina are having lots of problems in their camp. I hear the players are insisting that the coach be sacked before they play Nigeria.
If could all play into our hands nicely if they self destruct. I fancy our chances against Caballero and their defenders who don't like defending.

He is a winger and started as one but CSKA (Leonid Slutskiy) converted him to a striker after Wagner Love left.

Musa broke the NPFL highest goal record as a striker. He was converted to a winger in VVV Venlo though he played as a striker sometimes.

We defended well against all set-pieces.

Kudos to the boys.

It wasn't special to me, cos prior to the World Cup, especially during the Friendlies we are 2nd Half Team.

We were lucky to have Musa in the Game, coz the Vikings are weak already, thus Musa's pace was exploited positively.

Also I think the Pairing of Musa and Iheanacho should be maintained, Ighalo is kinda too slow for 3 - 5 - 2 Formation. Tyrone should be used as a RWB, while Moses is tried out as LWB.

Nice one Bro. I like ur last paragraph because I hammered on it bfor the match started. Idowu doesnt really do much as a LWB back. Take Moses there while Ebuehi takes the right side.

Great insight bro, So are we still gonna Rumble? grin

the first half showing was poor... So me saying it makes me a plastic fan..... Nawa for some people.....

ndidi needs to improve on his passing and creativity. I will continue saying it. Who e vex mek e go boil beans.....

Imagine ndidi in his normal holding midfield role with the added spice of wonderful passing.... Beast of a player....

NOTE bro.... I'm not quarrelling with you o... One love

Please first half was not poor this is a tactical match not headless chicken running up and down... We need to settle down in the 352 formation and make sure we didn't conced not only that... We dominated the midfield and the defence was pretty solid... So what's poor about it?

Yes they should sack their coach and drop Messi to the bench.

Then why was he taking a lot of time to get off the field, but immediately he was off he was signaling to return. When Iceland started an attack he stopped clutching his hand so as to run properly. He might have twisted his hand, but he exaggerated.

I screamed with joy when we scored

But i am not impressed one bit

We posted a very shabby performance

This was a one man show... Musa!!

Other players were non existent... I bet my left balls that if Ighalo had started we won't had scored a single goal.

SMH!!

Just look at how he killed our 3rd goal

After we scored we became too sluggish for my liking

It was like we took our feet off the pedal

For Argentina match... I intend to see Iwobi starting in place of Etebo... Yes, Etebo should sit on the bench

Etebo killed many of out attacking moves... Iwobi will do better in his place

WTF!! Is the reason behind Rohr and late changes? undecided
. Hmm. I doubt you watched the match

U dont see me praising Rohr here. In fact we forced him to play this formation. His stubbornness cost us the first match and have us in this tight corner. Left to him, he would have continued wt his crazy formation with immobile Ighalo upfront. Mtcheeew
