U sure Simmy can exchange those quick one - two passes Kelechi was giving out? Can Simmy track back into the midfield to orchestrate attacks and still rush back to the front, quick enough like KC was doing?

Just a simple question

nacho did not play well, his free-kick were very poor, moses indirect freekick was better than his.

That’s my only fear. We must start well. But I expect Messi to be at his best. We must do our best to cage him just as other countries have done recently, and avoid giving away free kicks around our 18

In addition, our defence should be more disciplined. We've given away 2 penalties already in the 2 matches played. The Argies would be looking to get some too.

Hopefully we don't give them.

Anybody here with a means of reaching the team should do well to extend our pleasure to the team and to tell them to get into the Argentina match with the "we WILL beat them" mindset.

Xjaka and Shaqiri could be banned by Fifa with the political inducing message their celebration seems to suggest.
Being Albanians originally playing against Serbia, knowing the history between those two countries.

See most of them now shouting Sai Nigeria!!!!! cheesy Well, Nigeria faced the Giants and won! We have just coasted through the toughest game of the our group. Argentina won't be this hard but they will be hard.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.... I was just too sure. Argentina is dead! They won't survive this. They just won't. The Eagles are back! We have found our wind!

Ahmed Musa.... Your speed and industry. 100% spot on. I will dedicate a whole post to you my good man. wink

Iheanacho..... Well done lad. You showed character. He started the move for our first goal after same musa won that header. Iheanacho kept falling back to provide a passing outlet for us to build in midfield. His hardwork is greatly rewarded. More on this lad later.

Mikel.... Ohhhh Mikel. What a leader. You kept to your words. You said you will play in any position for the team to ensure we win and you did. Kudos.

Balogun... This guy is the leader of the defence. What a player. More on this guy later.

Ekong.... You contended and won almost all aerial duels. But my oh my... Those Icelandics are mighty. That finbogasson chance in late first half was so close. But kudos.

Idowu.... He was decent. Put his body about in that first half and got yellow carded to stop a threat. In the end, decent showing.

Ebuehi.... Chaaaiiii... What manner of Nigerian foreign born jewel is this boy? cheesy See how he also executed LWB... More on him. That penalty miss from sigurdsson saved his performance from being dented even though that was not his fault. He was trying to cover for Omeruo's mess. Omeruo made a weak clearance with a tame kick.

Omeruo.... Solid! Powerful! He was commanding in aerial duels too. Made a weak clearance that would have made the scoreline close but fortunately Sigurdsson missed. But apart from that small slip, Omeruo was in control. Solid all round performance.

Ndidi.... Strong in the tackle. Tireless in covering distances. A powerful performer. He channelled the anointing of his trademark Long Range strikes and showed heart in that middle. More in him later.

Etebo.... This guy is tireless. He covered every blade of grass. He was in defence and in attack. A super bag of energy. A war tank in our midfield and a force with his driving runs. More on this Beast-like player later.

Ighalo.... Came in and put hinslef about decently. Did well on one occasion to hold up and find Iwobi but iwobi's attempted shot was blocked off.

Iwobi..... Came in late and would have had a goal.

Uzoho.... Many doubted this lad buy he has shown that if you are good enough, you are old enough. His calm and commanding presence at the back have been massive. What a super talent we have unearthed in this wonderkid. Nigeria have never lacked quality shot stoppers EVERRRR!!! AND THE TREND CONTINUES WITH THIS SUPER TALENTED 19-YR OLD. More on him later.

Rohr.... 8/10

He is the only one I would score. In that first half, we kept on trying to punt the ball forward and crossing in at Icelandic heights. We were never gonna get a goal that way. We needed to be smarter. Whenever we had a set piece like indirect freekick or corner from the sides we could easily play a fast one and square the ball to the top of the box for a on-rushinh player to come hit at full force. Those long balls into their area were never gonna get past those Nordic Giants.

The Icelandic being lords of defence really blocked off even our attempts for shots on goal in that first half but we were in control but fell back under pressure anytime they broke forward.

The Icelandic had a simple strategy:

1. For any throw-in close to our box, they used the long throw tactic to try cause mayhem in our box but we dealt with them well.

2. For every corner, they used their towering heights to try win headers but Balogun, Omeruo and Ekong were all up the task... Same with Ndidi.

3. For every indirect freekick, they crossed into that area between the penalty spot and the goalline to try cause palava for us too. One of such almost went in via finbigasson touch but fortunately it missed the target and went wide.

4.Every time they broke down their right, their RB was always quick to send in his wicked Hugh crosses to find their target men. We dealt with those too.

5. Then they defended in packs like wolves.

I commend Rohr for introducing Ebuehi to help offer an outlet down the left. He was more enterprising and defensively sound up and down that left than an already yellow carded Idowu was. Idowu was good but Ebuehi was simply just better.

In the second half we came out smoking. We were just daring. We kenw this was the half that determined our WC campaign going into our last game. And the players rose like Eagles indeed. They extended their wings finally and took off!!!

Etebl had our first crack at goal but Halldorsson held it well. That was the beginning of things to come. We kept the ball on the ground more and we were much more purposeful in our movements in midfield and attack. Iheanacho was doing more of falling back to advanced midfield areas to receive balls and find the nearest attacking partner to the sides or upfront in Moses or Musa. Iheanacho's calm and caluclatice style was beautiful to watch. He completed most of his passes and found his mates intelligently. He didnt umjust stay upfront. This lad kept falling back to join the midfield and provide an extra outlet of passing to the wings. One of such made it possible to start that attack that led to our first goal.

But credits must go to Musa too. Musa challenged the Icelandic man for that aerial ball and won it. The ball fell kindly to Iheanacho and he was able to rightly pick out Moses who drove forward and sent the cross intended for Etebo (which could not have reached him) but was intelligently intercepted by Musa and viola! Our first goal.

Rohr only made one change and thevbiys stepped up their game and that was the difference. They fought like Soldiers reborn and showed the world that it is not just Senegal that came to the party for Africa.

I salute the Nigerian Spirit and The Power of Naija!

What C.Ronaldo could not do against Iceland in Euro 2016 after about 7 shots or so... What Messi could not do after 11 shots including a penalty against Same Iceland in this ongoing world cup, AHMED MUSA have done!

A Titbit: Ahmed Musa is now Nigeria's Top goalscorer ever in World cup history with Four goals. 2 in Brazil 2014 and now 2 in Russia 2018.

The Super Eagles are back! cool

This is why I never shook. I know my boys! cheesy

What about Victor Moses He provided the first assist and he actually passed well today

Summary of 3-5-2

90 min against Argentina GA 2,... GF 4

45 min against England GA 0,.... GF 1

90 min against Czech Republic 1 GA,..... 0 GF

90 min against Iceland 0 GA,..... Gf 2

____________________________________________

TOTAL: In 315 minutes of 3-5-2 formation, we Scored 7 goals and Conceded 3 goals

An average of 1 goal in every 45 minutes

In summary... Rohr should stick to 3-5-2 henceforth
your stat is flawed bro. Never have we played 3-5-2 for 90mins except today. Here it is

ARG 0 - 3 NIG (45mins)

ENG 0 - 1 NIG (45)

CZK 0 - 0 NIG (45)

NIG 2 - 0 ISL (90)

We've played a total of 225 mins with 3-5-2 scoring 6 and conceding zero in the process. We now average 1.2goals in 45 minutes. Very solid Stat this formation got

Thanks for spotting that omission my good man.. I knew I was missing one vital name in that epistle... Now here it is... wink

Victor Moses.... This guy's class. Who would have thought that the position he played for Chelsea for two whole seasons now will be one day executed for Nigeria at any tournament at all or in any game? cheesy Wow..... Our best attacker actually played RWB today and soared. He was the boss up and down that right for Nigeria and provided the first assist for Musa and Nigeria's first goal. He and Iheanacho were responsible for taking our set pieces and both delivered decently.

Victor Moses got in the way of a couple of Icelandic forays via repelling them andbalsonbinbed forward to drive our attack from the right. This is the Victor Moses... The RWB Victor Moses we saw week inz week out last season in the EPL. He was live in GWG and replicating same form, desire and passion to dominate.

Kudos Victor Moses. He deserecd a goal today too btlut that didn't come. Maybe Argentina will feel the wrath of Moses' boots. Moses deserves a goal in Russia.
