People should stop saying that nonsense that Ighalo begged to be subbed in, una dey there? I think what happened was very clear, Rhor wanted to bring him in and he called him over to give him tactical advice before he joins the game, very simple stuff.

I yaff talked my own. We have a sleeping giant in Moses as an attacker.

Finito.

Your observation was spot on sir..Moses originally played from the attacking position.. Left flank. At least while he was in Liverpool, Wigan and even stoke city..it was at Chelsea he got converted to suit conte formation

Actually, after Musa's second goal, It looked like Ighalo was asking to be subbed in.

Francis Uzoho was 3rd choice at the 2013 under 17 WC. Who could have imagined that he will be number 1 in the 2018 senior WC and keeping a clean sheet.

Uzoho wasn't tested much.

Apart from the assist he did, Moses was too casual and his crosses hardly reached targeted player.
Even the assist was a fluke as it needed that magnificent ball control from Musa . Unfortunately we still don't have any player to play from that right side. His performance was better than the match against Croatia so let's hope he'd still get better.

The Croatian coach Dalic is one smart cookie. I over heard the commentator before Cro vs Arg say that the Croats played Nigeria in the 2nf half like they were conserving energy for the Argentina game.
After 90mins against Arg, it turned out he was spot on.
I see him taking over a decent club in the near future just like Niko Kovac did after managing Croatia at the last world cup. He's Bayern Munich's manager now.
either way I don't see Iceland winning Croatia. Our destiny is in our hands.... Win or draw but don't lose...... Very simple.

Just rewatched the second half and Nigeria was flying.. Outstanding performance against a very good Iceland team, absolutely dominated the second half.

The difference offensively was iheancho and Musa running into channels. In the friendlies, our lone striker tended to stay in the middle, making it easier for the defenders to mark him out. Musa and Iheanacho were pulling the defenders all over the place.

Leon Balogun is such an intelligent player by the way. The way he picks passes from the defence line. Omeruo was outstanding, involved in both goals. This is the Omeruo of 2014.

If we play like we started this second half against Argentina, We will definitely score, i believe. A win or a draw should be enough. Come on Nigeria!!!

I still believe we have a sleeping weapon in Victor Moses and if he had the opportunity to play the same role Musa had, he would have been impressive. I hope Moses get the chance soon to show what he can do as an attacker.

Either way, Musa was prolific and deserves the accolades he gets.

When you think of the amount of players with similar attributes like Onyekuru, Chukwueze, Success, you can see in a set-up that promotes these kind of players, we can have a formidable team.
Moses should remain were he is Oga Joe. He performed excellently. Infact that should be his role going forward. He played there a whole season.

We do not have enough natural wingers in the team, ala Simon injured. 352 everyday. Moses and ebuehi wingbacks, our defense and midfield is settled. Just need another clinical striker to pair Musa, nacho or simi but not ighalo. Thanks

If Musa remains in front, Nacho must be the one to work with him. The work Nacho put in yesterday was phenomenal and his mobility complimented Musa. Simy will slow the attack and defeats the mobility of the team.

The good thing about this Rohr's team now is that they are unpredictable.
The disorganization is a big headache for those organized teams. Croatia only had one shot on target all day. They found it difficult creating chances.

I hope we scale through the Argentina huddle.

You know when I saw that initial line up that had Ighalo and Simi up front, my heart sank! That combo was just like eating bread with Yam. angry

We needed fluidity, creativity and pace upfront. Musa-Iheanacho combo did just that.

Since long ago, i have stated that Rohr should find a new role for Musa as a striker or supporting striker. His returns from the wings have been very poor. His pace as evident from the second goal is an attribute we really need to exploit.

Musa, on the day he switches on can be very diverstating.

Please first half was not poor this is a tactical match not headless chicken running up and down... We need to settle down in the 352 formation and make sure we didn't conced not only that... We dominated the midfield and the defence was pretty solid... So what's poor about it?
Oga, its clearly obvious. The first half was poor.

not poor. Iceland didn't come out to play. They packed the bus. What were you expecting? It was after we scored the first goal that the game opened up. They were out for an equalizer but were punished for that. First half possession even stood at 61% to 39%. We only didn't record a shot on target

And we defended se-pieces admirably against a team that is excellent at set-pieces. The training ground work is bearing fruits.

yea. Even Spain struggled against an organized Iranian defence. My fear now is the Argentina game. They celebrated like we're already out of the competition. I'd like any other team to eliminate us but Argentina.

Iceland had like 7 to 8 shots in the first half. Testing Uzoho severally.... Pumping balls into our 18 . So Iceland did come out to play, please don't let the win fool you.

We were a totally different team in the second half. Infact twas because Iceland relaxed a little and decided to go gonho and full attack leaving so much space for our counter attack and boom we scored.

After which the game turned on its head. Read this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5874885/Nigeria-2-0-Iceland-Ahmed-Musa-helps-Argentina-out.html

Musa is class ahead, let's be truthful.

Although Musa can also be inconsistent, Ighalo's worse inconsistency makes Musa remain the better choice. Ighalo's goal return for Nigeria has been awful.

The 2-man attack was also helpful to Musa. Ighalo didn't have that luxury.

Most importantly, Musa's speed and mobility make him better than Ighalo who just stands up there.

By the way Rohr is still an average Coach. If at all he's gonna be retained by NFF, I suggest he goes for advanced coaching Courses after the Mundial.

Rohr simply danced to the Nigerian Media, Pundits and Fans tunes. He played the Formation, perhaps, to vindicate himself just in case we lost the Match.

I ain't gonna be sold yet on him, until he finally proves beyond reasonable doubt that he's up for the Tasks. Everyone expected Victory immediately we saw the Lineup, coz we believe it's all Eagles need to soar higher against any Opponent.

Prior to the World Cup, it was Evident during the Friendlies that 3 - 5 - 2 is the best Formation for the Team, however Rohr thought otherwise until he failed.

Idowu ain't needed in the Team in a 3 - 5 - 2 Formation, Ebuehi is better. Also I hope Iwobi is played instead of Etebo. Yes..... Etebo is workaholic and full of Energy, but we need creativity in the Final third.

If we wanna see the best of Nacho, then we gonna need to play Iwobi in an AM Position. Nacho was running into spaces but Etebo ain't creative enough to sight his Movements and the do the needful.

I need to commend the Trio of Balogun, Ekong and Omeruo - they were outstanding and dealt with Aerial Threats excellently. Also Uzoho is beginning to prove himself as the right Choice for Eagles No. 1.

Argies lack in Midfield and Defence. They are only good on the Wings and Attack. If we can control the Midfield, we gonna win the Match!

When i see some people still criticizing Victor Moses after yesterday's performance, i feel sad. Wat do u really want from dis guy? Dis guy worked his socks off to give a breathtaking performance yesterday at d right flank. Maybe pple here thinks he is an alien and should be flying on the pitch. Do u think it is easy playing a double man's role as a wingback? He even hard an assist and almost had a goal. It's high time pple realise he is human too. Assuming he gave away dat penalty from his side d way Ebuehi did, am sure pple would have called for his head. But no one talked about Ebuehi. Is it because of colour? Ok i want those criticizing Moses to go and watch our first match again. That Penalty Ekong gave away, Moses and Mikel where in the 18yard box doing markings. This guys are working their socks off for 9ja. But it seems we only remember who scores. Apart from Musa yesterday, Moses was my man of the match!!
