Seriously the way the foreign media are reporting our victory against iceland is really annoying.
You see headings like.

AGERNTINA GETS LIFELINE.

MESSI TO HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE.

When I watched SKYSPORT news this morning I was so pissed with the reportage, instead of giving credit to our boys for the win they are making it all about MESSI and Argentina.

Well, by God's grace they will be disappointed on Tuesday.

#SOARSUPEREAGLES

God bless you my brother. Their reporting was as if we came to the WC to help Argentina qualify

So far, the World Cup has delivered in drama and we might be witnessing the Best World Cup ever.

Very soon hundreds of millions of eyes will beam on the match between Nigeria and Argentina. It is a do or die game for both sides and I hope Rohr puts aside any sentiment to go for blood.

Time for our Young stars to show the World that Super Eagles can roar.

The 3-5-2 formation is the best that suits are players. We possess more with it and defend better. It helps keep our goalkeeper on break.

It can only be matched and bested by a 3-4-3 setup.
I think the 352s effectiveness all come down to our players abilities and shortcomings.

The formation aids teams that struggle with creativity and compactness in the middle of the park.

I'm so happy for our victory yesterday!

But credit must be given to those who deserves it.

First to the entire team for perfect execution of the match.

Rohr also deserves some praise for been brave. Finally, he did the unthinkable. Starting Moses as a WB. I knew it. All he needed was to sit Moses down and talk sense into him and we all saw the result of such decision.

Moses on the other hand was damn to much and his contribution was immense. He defended more and attacked with grit. On a lighter note, he didn't fall unnecessarily this time around(may be 3 or 4 times through out the entire 90mins.

Kudos too goes to Mikel for leading by example. He accepted the defensive midfield role and did a great job. I also love the way he feigned that injury to help pause the game and allow our boys to catch some breath as they were almost all gasing out at the same time. Though I was initially scared of a potential injury to the captain. But relaxed when he wave his hand for continuation. Salute to the Man himself.

Musa too was brilliant yesterday. He his more potent as a striker than a winger. He made good use of his pace to out ran the Iceland defender. Ighalo wanted to do something similar but baba heavy for ground. His combo with Iheanacho should be retained for our next match against Argentina.

Ndidi and Etebo were the steel in our midfield. Ndidi posed a five start performance. He was just unlucky,he could have gotten a goal. I so much love the way they kept shooting on goal from outside the penalty area. Musa hit the cross bar with his missile. Ndidi caused the goal keeper to divert his own over the bar no thanks to the little deflection cos that was goal bound.

Ebuehi did well but he seem not to be happy. He started with some kinda reluctant attitude. But picked himself up after the first goal. Was happy we have finally capped him. I think it was unfair dropping Aina without trying him out on the right and Shehu too in the middle. Who knows they might have been better than what we have.

Our 3 man defense well absolutely resolute yesterday. Balogun showing how to do it. Love the way he intercepted some balls. Omuero is what we need in that defence to quench any threats from crosses and set-pieces. This came as surprise to the vikings. Cos their plan was to hurt us through set pieces and crosses since we are vulnerable to anything like that. But alas, our defenders rose to the occasion. It came to a time I myself was not bothered by those incessant kicks as I felt that we are now capable. Our setup in defending the corners too has changed and improved. Good work. I hope they work on the way we take ours. Indirect freekicks does not have to be crossed in. There is need for innovation. Kelechi was trying to do something by calling his team mate to come receive pass but they were not interested.

Finally, Uzoho was muah yesterday. He answered every call rightly. He his maturing with every game.

I hope Rohr does not make the kind of changes he made when we went 2 goals up. Those kind of substitutions could lead to a disaster and us throwing away the lead. He could have brought in more defensive players like Ogu to help secure the goals than exposing us. The worst was Etebo for Iwobi. It should have been Musa for Ogu.
so happy Musa was not subbed cos he was on his way to an Hat-trick. Which he could have gotten if Ighalo had play with him.

Since Argentina friendly, Ighalo has zero goals and infact he has translated the poor goal returns to the team entirely...

He doesn't score neither does any other person seems to score when he is the pitch

In saying it as it is,.. he is bad luck... Let him seat on the bench henceforth... He should send our warmest regards to Onazi and Joel Obi

He wasn't on the pitch today and we scored two goals.... The last time before now that he wasn't on the pitch we scored four goals

In summary.... Let Rohr fasten his seat belt on the bench

Enough is Enough... We are tired of Goals drought each time Ighalo is on the pitch angry
You're right bro. He really deserves to be benched. Although I don't in any way see him as a bad striker. He just simply isn't furtunate. In last matchday, He looked really heavy and immobile.

how dud5 he kill you with the 4-2-3-1, this has been his preferred formation, that formation brought us to worldcup, mikel was the 10 in the previous games and iwobi played in the wing in his clubs and qualifiers...

Rohr deserves some accolade, he started the 3-5-2 in Nigeria, most of our home base coach won't try that, his changes are always spot on. this man can't do all what we want.

Spot on. The additional midfielder makes the Midfield compact. Bringing the players close to each other. We did some quick pass exchange yesterday that was beautiful. Can't wait to see Iwobi join the Middle as an AMF in a triangular setup.

I disagree on the changes. The change pulling out Nacho for Ighalo was awful. Musa was the best option out and bringing in John Ogu. While Etebo pairs with Nacho upfront, contributing a lot to defending.

The Iwobi change was also another poor call. Rohr needs to grow some balls and also make better changes to suit the team. We can do better if Rohr can just take his foot off the brakes.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by semid4lyfe(m): 8:29am On Jun 23, 2018
It seems 3-5-2 or it's variants is the way to go in the modern game.

It puts numbers in defence, midfield and also the attack with marauding & overlapping wing backs.

It's alien to our football culture and Phillipe Troussier was sacked for playing it despite qualifying Nigeria for the world cup.

I hope this formation can be inculcated and drilled into players in the academies and at the grassroot level cos truth is it's not "our thing".

In my amateur football days, I never played in such a formation and no team I played against adopted the formation. The preferred formation for Nigerian coaches is 4-4-2.

Even in my Saturday morning leisure footballs, we always choose players and set up to play 4-4-2.

Our coaches particularly at the grassroot levels and academies need to play 3-5-2 more so they can develop the right personnel and build all round players particularly with wing backs.

We need to show more intention in our corner-kicks. Just like one of the routines during the qualifiers that Nacho blasted a rocket into the net. I also agree we need to utilize our shooting power with more shots from range. It is another strength of our players.

Special attention should be paid to the refereeing crew for Tuesday’s match. Because Argentina and Messi are darlings of FIFA, there may be some shenanigans going on to ensure that Argentina get the result they need.

It’s now time for Rohr and Mikel to play mind games. Both could say something along the lines of “the match needs a strong referee to officiate such a high profile match...” That would put the referee under pressure to need bend to any silly antics of Argentina and her fans.

God bless you my broda for this.

Nigeria has many set of confuse people and there are many of them on this thread, some go see red call am blue, all of them get 2 mouth.

You no lie,if na Moses cause that penalty or ighalo or echiejile dem go call for their head
Thank you.

Do we need to criticize any player after our victory against Iceland? NO cos they gave us our desired result.

Truly first half was abysmal but second half guys rose to the challenges and were solid all through and why too much noise on Ighalo performance especially from this thread, honestly he did well and if anybody still criticise Moses for yesterday performance, such person need attention.

Uzoho for the first time tells me Nigeria goalkeeping dept is secured for the future,

Moses was massive and he did well with a great assist and good to see replica of his Chelsea performance.

Ebuehi came in and was solid though he gave out two penalties with one given.

Idowu looked. solid and good that Rohr subbed him cos he was already booked.

Omeruo remain a man to pair Balogun not Ekong. He had a wonderful assist from the back.Solid performance.

Balogun really showed the experience of a defender with his intelligent displayed, very massive defender.

Ekong did well and really came into the party in the second half

Mikel orchestrated the midfield from the deep and dictated the pace of the game with calmness.

Ndidi is gradually coming into the party,a good shot but not yet our NDIDI, hope to see our Ndidi against Argentina and am seeing him neutralise Messi.

Etebo is showing the consistency that has been his undue in eagles, two solid performance

Iheanacho did well but i want to see more of him cos against Argentina he must raise his game.

Ahmed Musa proved us wrong by showing 5 star performance telling us he is a class.4 WC goals and still counting.

Good to see Iwobi who gave us good option either as RM or AM.

Ighalo came in and gave Iceland defence little headache.

Good performance from our boys cos they gave us hope that never relent until it is done and against Argentina we are winning.

Good to see Rohr and his backroom staffs back into reckoning cos the team performance against Croatia brought a question mark on their tactical abilities.

SUPER EAGLES NO TENSION

WE ARE WINNING WE ARE WINNING

Quite surprised when someone said Iceland had 8 shots on target in the first half. I had to watch the first half numerous times again to be sure if I actually watch the right match loll.
We were average and quite impressive. We had some sleek movement that could have given us an aim at goal but kelechi and musa were muscled off the ball and just when we need the last connecting pass to create something we miss. So average but quite impressive in the first half
