The best form of defense is attack, he needed someone that can holdon to the ball more and not be wasteful when having the ball

Attack sells ticket, defense wins games. You can not win without spending enough attention on defensive details. The moves we made yesterday could have led to a catastrophe. We need to plug all leaking holes.

Finito.

what about us?
a point can send us through

A point can see us through if Croatia beats Icealand, they draw or Iceland does not win by two or more goals margin.

Here also the number of goals we score in that 1point against Argentina could be vital

OMERUO "THE ROCK"
Wow, what a stat.

The back three were spot on yesterday. The passing from the back was top notch beating the Icelandic press on numerous occasions. I think it was one of those passes that set up Musa's second goal.

i watched him and i agree he was poor on the 3 occasions he played but that doesnt mean he is not a good player. last season he was one of 9ja's best midfielders in europe. he is kinda trying to reinsert himself in the team and rohr and his coaching crew saw enough of what he can provide the team before his name was included in the worldcup list. joel i believe will come good with time. also he has played couple of times as a wingback for both inter milan and torino in the serie A

Omeruo was always a pick of mine. Apart from the little mistakes, he was always a solid player for us.
Yes very few of us believe in Omeruo.A lot even rated Awaziem than him.

I remember Omanbala always saying it that Omeruo is better than Ekong and i know Ekong wasn't better though to break the partnership of Balogun and Ekong is not easy

And with Omeruo performance i don't see Ekong starting ahead of him just too glaring he is better and he has experience going for him

The changes were spot on, Iheanacho was fading in the game so Ighalo was brought in to hold up our long balls

Musa was having the game of his life why change him?

Musa's game of his life is not as important as securing our lead and Iheanacho was not fading. He just missed a goal before he was substituted and was also in position in case Musa wanted to pass the ball instead of scoring when he scored his second goal.

and Omeruo error almost cost us a goal , he forced Ebuehi to commit foul . MY fear for Omeruo is lack of concentration ... sometimes he can just mess up all his effort with just one error .

That was OMERUO of before, the omeruo I watched against England and iceland is a totally different omeruo.
I was never a fan of omeruo, Especially after he cost us the 2015 afcon ticket but damn the man has improved.
And for that penalty you cannot entirely blame Omeruo, Ebuehi has to take most of the blame, that was a ball Ebuehi should have shielded and allowed to go out of play but instead he allowed the iceland defender get into his front.

I also rate Awaziem highly and keep in mind Ranieri said Awaziem is very good dealing with aerial threats too. So you can not blame those who rate Awaziem higher.

They are both quality and I hope with time we do a proper screening process and select the right three for our central defense line.

I disagree on the changes. The change pulling out Nacho for Ighalo was awful. Musa was the best option out and bringing in John Ogu. While Etebo pairs with Nacho upfront, contributing a lot to defending.

The Iwobi change was also another poor call. Rohr needs to grow some balls and also make better changes to suit the team. We can do better if Rohr can just take his foot off the brakes.

Oga boss abeg rest....Bad Analysis

It seems 3-5-2 or it's variants is the way to go in the modern game.

It puts numbers in defence, midfield and also the attack with marauding & overlapping wing backs.

It's alien to our football culture and Phillipe Troussier was sacked for playing it despite qualifying Nigeria for the world cup.

I hope this formation can be inculcated and drilled into players in the academies and at the grassroot level cos truth is it's not "our thing".

In my amateur football days, I never played in such a formation and no team I played against adopted the formation. The preferred formation for Nigerian coaches is 4-4-2.

Even in my Saturday morning leisure footballs, we always choose players and set up to play 4-4-2.

Our coaches particularly at the grassroot levels and academies need to play 3-5-2 more so they can develop the right personnel and build all round players particularly with wing backs.

So you like ball self? I no say na you ban me that day.

Gok man i know if Ighalo start the match instead of Iheanacho and put the same performance of Nacho he will still be blamed.

I remember how Ahmed Musa was rated here and some even called him federal character player but what happened yesterday a blissful performance.

Sir,against Iceland Ighalo with few minutes was not woeful,he had a good game cos Iceland defenders were on their toes.

Pls go and watch the match again may be you get it better

Spot on, i remember how our own fans were rejoicing on his misfortune after the handshake incident with his coach in Cska , some said this is an opportunity to drop him.

people said i was supporting musa blindly, today is Musa tomorrow it might be ighalo. they are all our players and should be supported

Perfectly said.

I was expecting Rohr to substitute Musa after the second goal. Anything could have happened, even aside stabilizing that game defensively; he could have been yellow carded or injured. It wasn't the best gamble by Rohr.

how many time has Ronaldo or neymar been substituted because of this things you mentioned

Omeruo was not fit in that AFCON game. Keshi was not brave enough to play one of the home based defenders in that game in 2015 against SA and opted for an unfit Omeruo.

As for Ebuehi, I think leaving the ball for Etebo to deal with it was the best option. I also think it was not a deliberate foul but a follow through of a trip after Ebuehi kicked the ground.

I hope people are getting to see the fairness VAR brings and how it actually quickens the game by saving long arguments and disagreements.

i repeat Rohr tactics was very good, he needed iceland to continue feeling the presence at the back.

Do you know goals could end up been a factor in this group

Etebo was ahead of mikel, he was the attacking midfielder, he was the 10 yesterday. for Ighalo you guys should watch Nigeria games with clear mind and heart, if ighalo scores you will still jubilate.
Of course I ll jubilate. But he hasn't scored for very long. He is wasted. If he comes good again, I ll be his biggest fan but for now, let him get glued to that bench.

Another school boy penalty conceded yesterday.

They are gradually gaining tournament experience.

that error came as a result of playing a right full back as a left full back , he went for the ball with the right leg, if he was to be a left footer , he would have controlled used the left foot and that would have saved us from the blunder Omeruo orchestrated. we will do better against Argentina , i hope they will use their 3-5-2 formation against us too . A troubled Argentine team will come out like a wounded lion against , we brighten their hope and we can also make them to experience pain that they have caused us in the past . He shouldn't have even made that tackle. Omeruo was covering and both the Iceland player and the ball were heading towards the goal kick line.

The initial word I used Was PLAY.

One thing you guys don't know is that seconds count in football. If you don't make the right decision at the right time then forget it. He did well to win the ball but spoiled everything by holding longer. Iwobi was already there asking for the pass. But he waited few more seconds which allowed our opponents to fall back and gets into position and that was the end of a potential goal for us and an assist for him.
This he did repeatedly. One was a pass he got at the center circle which he just needed to pass to a running Musa who was trying to get into space as we were 2 against 2. But baba held for so long till he was fouled. That's why we don't score often when he plays.

IIghalo is good at holding up play but his timings are bad and so let the team down. Hope you get it Sir.
Is Ideye not also good at holding up play. Seriously, I had envisaged him not making the World Cup squad if we qualified until he scored against Cameroon. Even at his top form, he was of little use.
