MetalJigsaw:Hahaha... Yes o! One was against Corsica and the other one against Iceland. But do you know? Both came on his debuts. One in a friendly and the other in his first competitive match. |

Now that we've celebrated enough, let's scrutinize the performance. 1. Iceland underrated us: In the second half, notice at the blast of the whistle, Iceland, a defensive team bombed five players into our area. It seems their manager had told them to attack our lackluster first half team. This failed, though. 2. We are without a doubt, a second half team. We tend to get better in every game after the break. 3. Moses is selfish. You would notice Moses although not displaying any form of shenanigans didn't put his all in the game. He was dissatisfied at playing at wingback and didn't play with enough intensity. Sadio Mane and Firmino is playing unsung roles in both Senegal and Brazil, but put the team first. But I prefer a dissatisfied team Moses, to a self-centered egoistic individual. 4. We don't have defence splitting passers. Iheanacho made great runs, but couldn't get good service. 5. Ebuehi would be great for Benfica, he is surprisingly calm for an African. He shut down attacks from his flanks. He must be really doing something wrong behind the scenes for him to be constantly overlooked. 6. Omeruo is a typical old fashioned great centre back. He never went farther than the semi circle, even during corners At one point, he gave Balogun the luxury of becoming a midfielder. 7. Iheanacho has great link up play. He connected the attack to defence perfectly. 8. Ighalo is too lethargic, even when he knew his place was now up for grabs, he still showed no hunger. He caused a promising attack to break down, a third goal would have done our goal difference a lot of good. 9. Etebo is a midfield dynamo. He has heavily relieved Ndidi. 10. Someone has instilled confidence in Uzoho and instructed to bark at his defenders. He is also a very decent goalkeeper, still not found one error in his play. 11. Mikel has great leadership qualities. 12. We are bad but not abysmal at containing aerial balls. 13. Our team revolves around our midfield, this is so obvious though. 14. Musa is Musa. 15. The coach listens to the media and masses heavily. During his previous conferences, it was obvious he was going to try the 3-5-2. This has worked positively but is disadvantageous in the long run. 5 Likes |

Martz101: Why will I hate Ighalo? Ighalo is a nice guy with the heart of an angel. A true asset to the Super Eagles. At the time past 80 minutes, we should be conserving our lead. Not taking risk. Finito. |

By the way, the chance people talk about which Ighalo "wasted" wasn't exactly Ighalo's fault but Iwobi's. First of all, the pass broke the Iceland defence line and a defender with Ighalo were in hot pursuit. Watching from the screen it appeared Ighalo should have attempted a back heel, however, in such situation a back heel is too high a risk because if it doesn't come off, the chance will be lost forever. I mean an experienced defender could easily read the back heel and nullify the attempt, making the striker look silly. Attempting a backheel in such a situation is what you do when playing with your friends behind the street when nothing is at stake. In my opinion and speaking from the perspective of someone who played as a striker, Ighalo did the right thing by holding the ball up and creating the chance for an arriving teammate who in this case Iwobi. Iwobi should have passed the ball to Musa who was free on the left but instead elected to shoot. If the shot came off, would have been a great goal, but it didn't and the chance went begging. 1 Like |

Even if Ighalo were to beg the coach to play, which I doubt he did, I see nothing wrong in that. If it were to be true, it tells how passionate he is. He's usually first in camp. However, we need result not effort. He and the coach believe he didn't do well because he played as a lone striker the other time. May be they're right. Let's wait till after world cup then they can prove us wrong. Now is not time for experiment. 2 Likes |

MetalJigsaw:Exactly. The formation suits this present team better than a 442 or any of it's variant (4141,433 etc)because we simply don't have the play makers and natural, touch line wingers for those formations. Also, Mike looked at home playing in his favorite position. It was like a home coming. Watching him strut his stuff at AM the other day, was like watching an octopus on skate board . A sight of demented beauty. |

do4luv14: Harry Kane goes to get the ball for himself he doesn't rely on passes even though he gets such players at Tottenham. You need to adapt to your circumstance. Ighalo has been phenomenal but in a system where playmakers aren't available he needs to acclimatize or he will look out of place. During the qualifiers, Mikel owned that playmaker role but this ability isn't shining in the bigger stage, making Ighalo appear unproductive. 1 Like |

And do4luv14, This is Kingsley Amuneke. One of the players we played against in that epic game against Sari-Iganmu. He later went ahead to feature for Nigeria's Golden Eaglets at Ecuador in 1995. Me and Bina kept him busy in that game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaI61cXVU6Y |

Icon4s: Musa went for the more difficult option. He could have lost to ball to the keeper. Nacho asked for the ball before Musa skipped past the Goalkeeper. On normal terms, if Musa missed that ball he could have been crucified because Nacho was better placed to finish it. That is another reason I pointed at Moses attacking because attackers can get away with being selfish. |

goldfish80:Oga goldfish na ighalo now? Last year it was Akpeyi you were defending vehemently until he was exposed as a jittery bag of nerves. Ighalo is not it. I have been saying this since last year. He holds up play, yes, but for who? Himself? He should sit on the bench and watch others perform. He has not scored for us since Cameroon, na striker be that? 2 Likes |
