@Frankrobbn1 and other gurus in the house please I need your advise/contributions.

I was recently refused study permit on the ground of 'purpose of visit'. The VO is not convinced that I will leave Canada after my study.

Profile:
School: CPAWSB Alberta Province

Fees: I did not pay a din as it is stated on my acceptance letter that I must a study/work permit before I can register for the program and enroll for courses.

Previous Study: Graduate in Accounting and presently in the final stage of ICAN. Also i have 4yrs work experience in Accounting/Auditing.

Sponsor: Elder brother who provided 7 months bank statement of N25m closing balance. Though the VO did not tick insufficient fund as one of the reasons for denial(The only reason for denial is purpose of visit and am very sure that in my gcms note the VO must question why I want to take such professional program program in Canada at a high cost when I can take similar program here in Nigeria.)
Also, I plan to state in my next application that my elder brother does not have child yet(dependant).

Questions:
1. ICAN syllabus list Canada CPA as one of the professional bodies that can get direct membership with CPA designation. Pls can I print and attach this page in my next application to show that I will return to Nigeria to barge ACA designation with CPA designation?

2. Can I also include evidence of rental income that my wife and kid would use to sustain themselves while I am away? Can that boost my eligibility chances 'Purpose of visit'?

3. My online status already shows that I passed medical test, completed biometrics and background checks completed also that I failed eligible review.
In my next application, am I still expected to do another medical and biometrics? Also, will the next VO concentrate only on my eligibility review or start over from the beginning? I asked because I plan to present more proofs/points that I am eligible to study for Canadian CPA program and return to Nigeria after my studies.

4. Can I still use the SOA I presented previously which ended in March 30th 2018. Is it advisable to present it again in July when I reapply or can I add Apr-June 2018 SOA to the old one for submission. Someone advised that I can still use the same SOA for July but i want to confirm from the house.

PLS NOTE THAT I HAVE REQUESTED FOR MY GCMS NOTES... JUST WANT TO PREPARE AHEAD WHILE WAITING FOR THE NOTE.

PLEASE I NEED YOUR ADVISE/CONTRIBUTIONS GURUS/EXPERIENCED APPLICANTS ESPECIALLY ON HOW TO CONVINCE THE VO IN MY NEXT APPLICATION THAT I AM ELIGIBLE TO SCHOOL IN CANADA AND WOULD RETURN TO NAIJA AFTER MY STUDIES.

THANK YOU.

joe10,

I am sorry about the outcome of your visa application. Please pardon me that I was unable to answer your questions on time, I have been so busy lately and I find it very difficult to answer questions that are thrown in here. I only do so, at my convenient time.

To add to what Hisignature has just said,
Looking closely at your profile, the Visa officer is not after your financial sufficiency, either the visa officer has doubt about your return back home after studies.
As I always say on this reputable forum, payment of upfront tuition is not a prerequisite to Visa approval. As stated by CIC applicants are expected to show proof of funds for their first year of studies at their respective bank accounts and show willingness to pay when the need arises. There was no time CIC instructed an applicant to complete an upfront tuition before visa application. Applicants that do so, only do that at their own expense, while others pay because it's a request from their institution to pay a required (compulsory) amount of tuition deposit, in order to reserve a space for them(acceptance fee). Hence, since your school is not asking you to pay tuition, you don't have to complete an upfront tuition. You may decide to pay tuition only if you were denied on the bases of insufficient funds, just to prove to the visa officer that you've the funds available.

So back to business, If I may ask you Sir,
What's the duration of your proposed program in Canada? Is your intended degree program higher/lower than your already completed degree program in Nigeria? These are factors you need to also put into consideration.

To your questions:
1-) As long as this ICAN syllabus list will further buttress your study intent and give reasons for your return back home, I'll advise you include them in your next application.

2-) Provide little explanations on how your wife and kids tends to cope while you are away for studies, a rental income is fine. Add documents to evident this fact to be true.

3-) In as much as you did an upfront medicals along side your previous refused application, you don't need to undergo another medical test again. Simply include the E-medical slip that was issued to you at the hospital where you completed the previous medical test to your next application. The Visa officer will quickly use the UMI number that is located at the beneath of the medical slip to track your medical result and update it to your Mycic account.
Furthermore, be guided that your next visa application will start afresh and will undergo the normal processing. There are high possibility that a new visa officer will review your next application, so go ahead and include relavant documents that will portray you as a genuine student that will leave Canada after studies.

4-) A bank statement is valid for 3-4weeks (1-month) at the time of visa application submission. Thus, in your case, it's advisable you obtain an updated statement for your next visa application that ends in July 2018.

Above all, to be able to convince the visa officer lies solely on your efforts towards putting up a rational SOP.

It shall end in praises in your next application!

All the best!

I beg to disagree with this. He can still apply again, he has at least 2 full months before school finally resumes, and if you check, rate of application has dropped, even appointment dates at Lagos VFS office are no more as far as they were 2months ago. If he can meet all that is required, why not? Whether he likes it or not, the same challenge would be faced later, so why not now?
Someone here got his TRV in 3weeks too.

Except then again, his mind does not want to go for it anymore, then yea it's fine. No one is getting younger anymore, what if his program is not available for winter intake? He should wait for a year? I hope you get what i'm saying anyway.

Cheers bro

Well said my honourable Sir/Ma,

Yes of course, few applicant gets their visa approvals within the space of a month, but most applicants gets above this time. I am on the notion that applicants should always try their possible best to apply early, giving CIC enough time to process their study permit application. Submitting late, most often ends up with a refusal, of which I have seen such cases countless times. So to avoid been rejected by CIC, the ideal time is to apply early. So that if mistakenly there is a turn around in the applicant application (a refusal), the applicant can quickly apply for their GCMS notes and refire.

Your point is welcomed.
Thank you!

Good evening nairalanders,

I am new here & I'm so glad to be part of this forum. I recently got an admission to do a 1 year certificate program on 'Community support work' in Alberta. I work with an NGO. I intend starting my Visa application this July.

Pls I have some questions to ask:

1. Should I include random recommendation letters I got in the past (e.g those bearing 'To whom it may concern')

2. Is there a limit to how many recommendation letters I should include? because I plan using online application

Am guessing applicant went for a master's program ryt? So you're saying that 21M was probably not enough to cover both tuition and living expenses for 2years? How can that be?

Jewel80,

It may interest you to know that there are applicants that paid full tuition and submitted a huge bank statements that are far more than 21M and still got rejected based on insufficient funds. The visa officer goes beyond to examine the sponsor's earnings, motivation to sponsor the applicant, number of dependants, financial resources etc.. If you really read through my previous post where I addressed the reason for such rejection, you shouldn't have come up with this question of yours the second time.

joie123,

Firstly you will have to present a strong explanation for opting out for a year PGC in "Community Support work". Why you want to spend so much on this program, the lucrativeness of this program in Nigeria after studies in Canada should all be explained in your SOP.

Recommendation letters are expected to come from your employer, it's very important if it's addressed to the deputy high commission of Canada. "To whom it may concern is also good but to an extent"

There are no limitations for recommendations letters.

Hi guys, when Writing an SOP.. Is it important to state that you've been denied a study permit before ?? I was denied in 2013 ...

Please kindly treat as Urgent

It's not important to do that on your SOP. The IMM1294 study permit application form is the best place to state the refusal.

Hello TRV Hopefuls.

Please, I have been thinking of something lately that I feel could affect TRV approval negatively.

Is it not possible for the VO's to check if an applicant applied for PR or at the least in the EE pool since the same account would be used to apply for study permit?

I'm thinking they could assume that applicant might be trying to remain in Canada after studies and thus trying to go through the study permit route since that applicant has not been successful via EE or PNP. This may be particularly for those going for less than a year course.

This is actually one of the reasons I have not tried out EE or PNP yet.

Experts/Guru; what do you think?
lonelydude,.

Have you applied for your TRV? If yes, i'll advise you wait for the outcome of your application before pushing in for an EE/PNP. Meanwhile, as stated by CIC in the Attachement that having dual intent doesn't have a negative effect on each other. When applying for TRV you must hereby certify the visa officer beyond reasonable doubt that will depart Canada at the end of your studies, thereby providing sufficient ties that can compel your return home.

Please find the attached which explains your case better!

All the best

DLNEY:
Hello everyone,
I joined this thread through the recommendation of a friend who got her TRV with the help of you guys and God.

I'm a newbie and its quite complicated. I have read the line of thought from Part 8 till now and I want the GURUS to please comment.

I have a masters degree (Distinction) (2016) and a B.Sc. (2.1) in Genetics, a couple of publications, passed GRE (320/340)and TOEFL, had interships with some federal research institutes too. Tried to secure both Ph.D. and M.Sc. Admission (with scholarship) to no avail. Finally decided to apply to a micro-program in Neuroscience (neurogenetics) in U of Montreal. I got the admission (Winter 2019). I applied for the micro-program because I dont have enough money to pay for the Masters Program.

With all the emphasis laid on the progression of studies, I am really really scared that this might be a major mess on my application.

Can I hide the M.Sc. certificate, even though U of M knows that I have an M.Sc. degree?

So here I am esteemed gurus, I am determined to make the app work and all comments and suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I plan to apply next month but first the big question: BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCES (THE GURU'S) IS IT DOABLE?
DLNEY,

You don't have to hide the already acquired MSc certificate, considering it's related to your proposed course in canada. You're better off presenting justifiable reasons to why you opted for a second masters degree at this point in time rather than Master's. Show correlation of program with your intended program and career goals. I have seen applicants going for second masters degree and were approved of their visas. I'll advise you do the same, in as much as you're unable to get an admission for PhD. Think on how to present a standardized SOP that explains your intention for study and you will be fine.

All the best!

Please gurus in the house the letter from my sponsor which is my aunty must it be an affidavit or just reference letter?

Aunty is required to provide a letter of sponsorship and a sworn affidavit of sponsorship. Other documents regarding sponsor source of income should also be inclusive, proof of relationship should also suffice.

Online route is better during the high season period. VFS does send all your docs to Nairobi or Ghana. What they do is to scan the basic docs to them leaving behind many vital docs that explain certain areas of application.
Respected Sir,

How sure are you about this?
I know fully well that an applicant application is always enclosed in a sealed black bag at VFS, which must not be tampered nor opened by anyone unless it gets to the processing office. All candidates applications are couriered to the processing office few hours once application has been received by VFS. I haven't heard nor come across VFS scanning documents, thereby leaving relavant documents that explains an applicant situation/case behind.

Please I'll like to know how you came up with this ideology of yours, as I am very eager to learn from this.

Thank you!

I do not think this is true. All documents are sealed in a black transparent bag, and transfered to the respective procession offices. Buh if u have proofs to convince the house concerning this, it will be appreciated.

Please can I get info on this.

To apply for study permit into UBC - University of British Columbia, there is a non-refundable application fee to the school which is 1.4m.

Please if visa is not granted , will this money be refunded?

If not please what's the way out because the money is a lot.

Thanks all

What do you mean by application fee of 1.4m?

Infact the application fee for UBC is being waived for Nigerians. In other words, you don't pay any application fee compared to other universities that charge about 60 to 120cad as application fee.

dubaiboy1,

Your uncle needs an affidavit of support, attesting that he will incur all cost during your stay in Canada, that he is fully aware of your travelling to Canada for studies, that he will make sure that funds will be made available for you during subsequent years of study, stating his relationship with you (applicant) etc... this affidavit of support will be stamped and signed by a notary public officer or commissioner of oaths in a federal high court, while your uncle signs as the deponent. It's very crucial you include it with your application.
