Icon4s: COOL10: I understand your positions and I'd criticize me too for feeling that way if I wasn't one already. I suppose for most Messi fans, the irrationality is born out of the need to see him have one (or many, even) over Ronaldo and cementing his place as the "G.O.A.T" as we call him. What we actually mean is, while we love the Super Eagles and would want to see us win the game, we'd rather Messi (Argentina) benefits from our loss (if we lose) than any other team/player. Of course, there are exceptions to my sweeping generalization about Barça fans supporting Messi tomorrow - there are always exceptions to any such rule or assertion, you two being examples. But MOST Nigerian Barça fans want Messi to progress to the next stage, even if it's at our expense, sadly. All you need do is search out posts by Nigerian 'Messi fans' on social media platforms (Twitter, especially) and the interactions with them/us off the internet. Again, it's an oddly irrational loyalty. We all know this. |

If I was Gernot Rohr, my team talk tomorrow will be simple and a bit unorthodox. I'd simply slot in a DVD of Atlanta 96 gold medal match between Ngr/ Arg, let the players see how their predecessors dismantled a star studded Argentina team. I forsee a scenerio where the players will be buzzing and psyched up to go create their own history. (I can't even imagine the electric atmosphere in camp while the players are watching and screaming at the top of their voice as the goals fly in). The boys need to know they can do it, their predecessors did it in the past, 7 months ago, they won Argentina. They must write their own script and play as protagonists. A well psyched up and buzzing Nigerian team with an extra spring in their legs can certainly tear this fragile Argentine team to pieces in 60 mins. If they walk into the pitch with fear, respect and honor for Argentina, it will be bye bye to Baghdad. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

TSOM:. I'd love to say I don't understand you but then again,I'd be lying. The only thing I can wish for Messi 2mao is a goal but then again, that WON'T HAPPEN. One thing you should know is : RONALDO WON'T WIN THE WC. Hopefully that calms you down. To me,Messi has nothing to prove. He's undoubtedly the best player alive. Abeg he should go and rest. I'll feel bad for him 2mao but at the same time I'll be filled with overflowing joy cos of our win. Such contrasting feelings . What can I say? That's the cross I gotta bear as a fan of both. 3 Likes |

kellycute:Sir if you think so no wahala but deep thinkers who really understand the game should be able to understand my post. Mind you i rate Iheanacho than Ighalo and prior to WC am always emphasising the important of Iheanacho in our XI irrespective of any formations due to his goal ratio and conversion, you don't put such player on the bench. I'm sorry if you don't like Ighalo,no issue cos am agape with your your statement that "you don't want to see Ighalo in the dressing room) Well is a free world and coming from the same place is not an issue cos nobody accused you of tribalism. It's football talk but we should have a bar by not let emotions override our good and precise analysis. My post is not about Ighalo vs Iheanacho vs Simy but telling who care to listen that our players deserve little respect and enough of hatred lines in analysing their performance. Football analysis is different from hate analysis cos you don't want to see him in the dressing room says a lot. 1 Like 1 Share |

kellycute: Why will they use messi world cup success against c ronaldo? Portugal went out of the group stage in the 2014 world cup and they where awful,i didnt remember anybody insulting ronaldo. Messi lead Argentina to last year world cup final, yes they did not win the cup,all i could remember was people insulting messi because argentina lost in the final as if messi was the only one in the team. Now everybody is laughing at messi because Argentina will soon be eliminated,No big deal, even maradona says its not the guy fault and he has nothing to proof to anyone,is messi the whole 11 players in the argentina team? i also guess messi is the goal keeper and the defenders who make silly errors? EPL FAN BOYS hate messi because of what he has done to their team but inside them they know who is the best but they wont admit it. Argentina team is crappy, even the complete Barcelona team was beaten 4-0 by as roma and messi could not do anything, some days are like that in football. Up super eagles and we are winning tomorrow. 1 Like |

COOL10: That's you, if Sturridge sees 10 1v1 he will dispatch at least 8. Costa doesn't see that much, but will never miss when he comes across. Salah for example sees a lot of chances per game, and the more chances you get, the more you lose. |

Icon4s: Let's arrive at a middle ground. Nigeria 11: 10 Messi. At least he'd be the highest goal scorer - he'd go home robed in pride and glory. I think I can learn to live with that. The G.O.A.T can't exit this tournament under a dark cloud. That'd be too much to handle after the 2014 World Cup final. |

For some wishing them to win. If they beat us with less than 3 goals margin and Iceland beat croatia with just 1 goal, we will both lose out from second place. So it doesnt make sense praying your country lose because of 1 player. Infact such person might not progress in Nigeria for betraying the country he or she makes his or her living from. I agree that Moses should start has a lwb while tyron takes his natural rwb position nothing spoil, would even be better coz Moses can cut into his right stronger foot in attack.
