Until blacks learn to take their destiny into their hands.. This is not about prayer. A solution should be found to reduce this same tragedy... 2 Likes |

minasota: Nay! Constructing separate road for heavy duty vehicles is not feasible and totally unwise...plus it will not solve any problem. We as citizens are the root cause of all these accidents, because we have failed to hold these companies accountable. Take for instance, the incident that happened in Lagos-Ibadan expressway yesterday, if that was in the US, the company that own that tanker would be out of business by now. The liability from the lawsuits alone will cripple the company. But, in Nigeria the few people that sues, end up accepting merger payout from affected companies and settle out of court - chalking everything up to God and the fact that...’no amount of money will bring back the death’. Because of these lackluster altitude from Nigerians affected by these tragedies, these companies are not held accountable and hit very hard were it hurt them most, which is their pocket book and as a result they do not exact enough controls and monitor over their drivers and vehicles. Heavy duty trucks and tankers carrying PMS ply the same road that other vehicles uses in the US every single day...but those companies have strict control over their drivers with mandatory drug test, background check, limit on how many hours they must be behind the wheel for each rolling 24hrs, there are weight checks, speed checks, along points on the road. These companies know that, they can’t afford the liabilities that comes. All these Dangote truck hit this, kill this, damage that, can be checked if Nigerians start demanding full restitution and not settle...there are many jobless law graduate youths who can make a living out of this....make these companies pay and they will start exacting controls. 1 Like |

Hayzead07: One of the most lawless countries in the world. Is it only in Nigeria they move petroleum products from one place to the other? Until Nigerians begin owning up and seeing that they are the major cause of their problems while not always blaming the government, no improvements wld be made. Oyibo wey make motor say “overspeeding kills”, even govt warn say overspeeding is dangerous. But no ooo! Nigerians can never be patient and feel they own the roads. This is just even one example of the level of lawlessness of Nigerians |
