Arsenal is a bigger club than those teams please. Arsenal can go to Porto and Benefica and sign any player from there in a heartbeat. Infact players from those clubs can even go on strike to push for a move to Arsenal but the reverse can never be the case.
Can you imagine Aubameyang, Oezil, Bellerin or Ramsey packing his bags to freaking Porto?

Does it change the fact that with those grin players and money Arsenal never cross UEFA Champions League R16 for the past 7 years? grin

While Porto and Benfica dey do that.

Since signing big names determines big clubs or performance in international competition, why Chinko clubs and Zenith st Peter no dey win FIFA World club competition or UEFA Champions League? grin

Neymar wan run for em life from PSG? Why?

Wuh Morocco beat?

In fact I would have rated Tunisia ahead of them if not for their 5-2 loss to Belgium.
You think they wouldn't have beaten new comers Panama and Island?
The Croatia who topped our group would have been considered minors in a group which had former world champions, Spain and current European champions, Portugal.

After all said, Nigeria do not have the personnel and talents being courted by the big boys. That's the bottom line. And yes, Arsenal is much more a bigger club than the likes of Galatasaray and Porto whose players will consider it a step up if they signed for Stoke city not to talk of Arsenal.

Morocco came out with one point in their group how come they are ranked so highly?

Out of all the knocked out sides(not even talking of Africa) , Morocco were right up there.
Played some quality football and dominated Iran and Portugal, conceded two stupid goals from set pieces.

The world cup have shown that one bad result can get you knocked out (see Mexico). They paid for the unfortunate result against Iran especially.

Forget, football doesn't follow that way. You would be rated mainly according to your results. BTW you think Morocco would have beaten Croatia and Argentina?

Status of a big/top club is determined UEFA coefficient rankings. Finito

Uefa coefficient is for champions league and EUROPA cup seedings. It has nothing to do with club status as regards world wide followership and actually valuation of a clubs worth. You get the picture?

I'm very certain they stand a better chance of beating those teams more than any other African side in the world cup.

Argentina does not present a threat in the midfield.
As you saw, the perfect pass for messi's opener was from the midfield!!

Oga football is not like that.

How many matches did they win? How many points did they gather?

Philip and Noah should be considered. But I don't agree Onazi and Joel should be dropped if they get a decent club or play in a decent league.

Most top teams in the world cup have continous growth and improvement. Players are only dropped when they loose form and or another player is clearly better.

Form in the context of thier club and league.

Until we have selection by merit and not sentimental attached to hidden interests. The problem of the SE will not get better.

Club rankings and coefficients are used for the purpose of seeding for championships, it is not a determinant of who is a bigger football country or club. For instance, Island is ranked in the top 20 by Fifa, do you by any chance think they are a bigger football nation than Nigeria ranked 50th?

You can't isolate the quality of opposition they faced in Portugal and Spain. Those 2 are geniue world cup contenders.

So, if Real Madrid doesn't make UEFA Champions League for 5 season, it is still a top club?

So, for your mind Manchester United is the best club in Europe even better than Real Madrid? grin

So Arsenal is better than Athletico Madrid? grin

Very funny.

Exactly! But people here just wants to discard players in the name of rebuilding even if they are inform and in better league/club.

Yes at the end of the day results are results. But at the same time facts are facts we were unjustly treated. We keep accepting that and we will never move forward.

Seriously the VAR refs should have called the attention of the ref when Iheanacho was hit on the head. VAR is not perfect, but it reduces errors.

VAR is a bunch of crap. It gives them time to decide what they want to happen.

We need to try and win or go far in the next two AFCONs. Winning AFCON 2020 will put in us the confederations cup which will help boost our ranking even further.

I don't know what you mean but Man utd is a mega club. So is Real Madrid.
Arsenal is a bigger club than Athletico, although Athletico is more successful in recent times than Arsenal.
