pjosh1:. Many things could lead to that. First check ur alternator if it is under or over charging. Second, a light may be constantly on .Start to detect gradually. First always remove d negative terminal of d battery when u park it and fix back when u want to drive. See how long it wl take to drain d battery. Also if while fixing back d terminal u notice abnormal spark instead of a mild spark it may be that some light are or a particular thing in causing d drain. However u may take it to electronic diagnosis center . 1 Like |

pjosh1: ...well you can guess why the car was sold....depart from used stuff. I decided that a decade and a half ago. No regrets. If you cannot afford new, hire, rent, vehicle finance, whatever but used....? on average is a sheer waste of money and may cost you other things more important that even money cannot buy. |

It’s an electrical issue. An appliance is still turned on even when the ignition is off. The only source of power to the appliance is battery, that’s why it keeps draining it. Inorder to be sure, switch off your ignition, remove one of the battery termainals from the battery head, try touching it on that same battery head, if it creates a spark then you need to get a pro to solve the problem. 3 Likes |

pjosh1: If you are good with DIY it's really not a big deal. I have done this. All you need is a multimeter. If you don't already own one, it may be best to just take the car to a good mechanic. However, the summary of the procedure is that you set your multimeter to amps and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Use the multimeter as a bridge between the negative terminal and the ground on the body of the vehicle (e.g where the negative battery cable connects to the chassis). If there's a drain you will have a significant amp reading. (BTW all accessories must be off while you do this). What's next is to start pulling fuses/relays one at a time while checking the amp reading. The one that drops the amp reading indicates where the problem lies. 5 Likes 1 Share |

pjosh1: Remove the battery terminal and check if it sparks while putting it back... If it does, then something is wrong... Again ur Alternator might not be faulty... It happened to me and I changed my Alternator then everything became normal 1 Like |

I remove my follow come battery and replace it with a new one, thinking it's my battery that was bad. I drove the car from Abuja to Jos no issue, the the next day I drove from Jos to Gombe, geting the Bauchi my car started acting funny midway, I then power off the card, after some Cooling down I proceed, 15Km into Gombe town my car went flat. After some disappointment and a technician diagnos that's my ALTERNATOR, alternator not charging well, he fixed everything with 2k. 1 Like |

What’s app me or call me on 0803 273 1809 let me tell you how to go about it. quote author=pjosh1 post=68857335]I use a Lexus es 330 and I have changed the battery twice in a week, at first I thought the battery I bought was fake not until I bought the second battery and I still have the same problem. Whenever I park and off the engine the car refuses to start unless I start the engine with another battery then put in back mine. I don't think it's the alternator because sometimes after using another battery to start the car I can still drive it out, park and come back home without giving me problem and sometimes it just won't start after I park. I also noticed when I'm driving at night if I put on the headlight my dashboard light will go off, the AC will go off and the DVD system and sometimes even without putting on the headlight the AC and DVD goes off. I'm afraid of calling a rewire to come check it because they sometimes just create extra problems. I just bought the car not up to a month[/quote] |

Guy it happened to me when I was using my big daddy V6, it's just exactly the way you explained it but I went to my Rewire and he told me I have to buy another alternator that the coil inside the alternator is weak that's why it's unable to charge the battery. After fixing it worked. Just go and price the alrrnator for your car then go to the Rewire |

Don't got the alternator way yet. Try removing all the fuses one by one, and or relays. Ensure you mark off all the relays or fuses you remove. That would ensure you get to know exactly where the problem lies. If you or your electrician has done that, and nothing's fishy, your next options would be to get the wiring harnesses on that car checked. There's a tremendously heavy load(demand) on your 12V battery right. Alternator replacement should be a last resort. Please ensure you've exhausted the above steps before coughing out cash for an alternator. If its an alternator, there should be a TSB, if for instance, its a known problem with that car. So, get first things first, checked out. I wished you were in Lagos. Regards, Joseph 08066643532(WhatsApp/call) DW Nig Ltd www.dxta.net.ng 1 Like |

pjosh1:You believe its not the alternator but one thing that points to faulty alternator is the drop in load while the engine is running. Even if you have a parasitic drain you shouldn't notice anything while the engine is running if your alternator is sound! So, go check the alternator first. |

Sometimes, the battery is the culprit. If you have a second car, try swapping the batteries to find out if the battery is healthy. |

Re: I Need Help, My Car Battery Is Draining Itself! by vRendoh(m): 12:29pm On Jun 30, 2018 |
pjosh1: Do the following... 1. Let your tech Guy confirm the integrity of you ground (black )cable from alternator and to battery and to the body. Sometimes this cable do poor conductivity thereby not giving a good charge to your battery. Also.. see that the Alternator is good...doing its work properly and the Battery is good also! 2. Google your car idle run current ( eg 150mA). Note this on a sheet of paper. 3 Connect an ammeter ( your voltmeter set to measure current) in series with one of the battery cables. 4. Read the ampage. Since it is draining your battery. It should read high. 5. Open your fuse box and start unplugging the fusess one after the other while observing the reading in your meter. The fuse that gives the big drop is the culprit.. 6. Check the items on that fuse loop. There is one defective part that is slowly cooking your battery. Replace the faulty part. Continue the process till you arrive at your car manufacturer idle current run in No 2. Goodluck Bros |

Ehybrid: Will put up pictures later. Almost done. I need to redo the wiring of the aftermarket radio connections. That is what I am doing now. I took time out to work on a similar vehicle a 2003 Lexus ES330. The problem vehicle in question is a 2004 Lexus ES330 (the one with pictures). |

I had the same issue. It was embarrassing cos every morning my car battery was flat. I knew something was draining it cos if i removed the terminal the night before, it would be okay. I was also afraid of those "rewire" guys. Fortunately I got one and all he did was to change a faulty "Relay" switch and it was solved. I suggest you look into that. |
