On A Scale Of One To Ten, How Likely Am I The Father? by Gistboxblog: 1:03pm On Jun 30, 2018
On a scale of one to ten (ten being most likely), what are the chances of me being the father?

To start with, I am unfamiliar with the female biology.

She has a 28-day cycle. Her last period ended on 14th January — to the best of my knowledge.
We had sex on the 15th January (my first time, but the umpteenth time for her — not complaining). Then, we had intercourse again on the 28th and 29th of January.

From the 5-9th February, she continuously hinted that she might be pregnant having noticed changes in her body. Afterward, she confirmed she is pregnant on 11th February.

Today, according to scans, she is roughly 23 weeks pregnant, and I have been supporting her. However, she doesn’t want to give birth outside of wedlock, so we intend to go to a marriage registry soon.

Now, the only reason I’d walk her down the aisle is the baby (not that I don't want to marry her or that I do not love her, not just ready for marriage yet). I want her (the unborn child) to be born in a functioning family, not a baby-mama context. Nonetheless, I am worried the baby might not be mine. Obviously, we can conduct a DNA test once the child is born, but it would be too late if the child turned out to be someone else’s. Worst, I’d be a divorcé at a tender age. I am not up to 30, but I am very comfortable.

I need fertility experts, women, doctors to please tell me what they think.

Based on the timeline of her cycle, period, pregnancy signs, our sexual relations and such, what are the chances that I am the father?

Let her have the baby before you tie the knot. A child shouldn't be the main reason for desiring marriage. Marriage is between two people - you & your spouse. You need to see that reason in your spouse, not the unborn baby.

Thanks for your input, Acidosis. I get your drift. Besides getting married, I want to know the chances of me fathering the unborn child. I’d love to settle down with her sometime, albeit not just right now. And if I am not the father, that puts a spin on things.

Chances are that you're not the dad.

Her period ended on 14th. Usually females have a 3-5 day cycle. Let's say 5 days since it is more common. Means she started menses on 9th. Fertile 21-25th. U didn't see her on 20th to 26th.

Ain't your baby bro.

Chances are that you could be the father.

From the figures you quoted, the chances that you could be the father is slim. However, having unprotected sex with a lady makes you the potential father of her unborn child.
Nevertheless in medicine, some things are not set in stone because you could actually have things happening outside 'normal values'.

The only way to confirm if the child is yours is by a DNA test or if you got strong genes like me,a look.n.a.

I wouldn't say you should marry her just because of the pregnancy if your heart isn't right with it.You could wait till after the child is born.

You are right: we live in different cities and didn’t see from 16-27th January (precisely).
Thanks, Prognose.

I have. I do not want to arouse suspicions yet. This is a delicate time for her, so requesting such without basis could break her. Just need to know if there is a chance beforehand, and I want deductions based on the statistics in my initial post.
Besides, postnatal DNA testing can be conducted without both parents’ consent as opposed to prenatal, which needs samples from the mother.

Stop these your nonsense analysis. I remember him saying she's got a normal 28 days cycle, and going by that, her period started on the 10th as 4 days is the normal cycle. Having said that, body systems are different when it comes to women. What of the days they had sex after her period? And don't give me the fertility calculation as it doesn't hold true in some cases.

Op should take responsibility for his action and quit making up excuses. The best way to clear his doubt is to wait and get a DNA as we cannot tell if it's his child or not based on when or when not they had sex.

Am a mother. Once you have sex immediately after menses u can conceive. My last baby was conceived like that. Finished my period on Thursday, had sex on Friday and conceived. Btw one can even get pregnant when seeing her menses. What am trying to say is if u have sex with a woman when she's seeing blood and u release inside, she can become pregnant.

Thanks for your input, Kimbraa. And just for the records, I never shied away from responsibilities or rejected the pregnancy. Nor did I “make up excuses” up there.
If you comprehended my post, you should appreciate that I have been supportive. I mean, having been “supportive” for over twenty weeks, it’s discernible that I might have had some revelations recently that instigated my doubts about the paternity.

If you had an unprotected sex 3times in a month with a woman, expect anything. Even Doctors will tell you that the fertility and infertility periods isn't true for all women. I was surprised someone typed with so much certainty that you're not the father.

Ovulation calculator.

https://www.motherandbaby.co.uk/ovulation-calculator

A woman who has a 28 days cycle is most fertile around 10-15 days after the beginning of her period. So you start counting beginning from the first day of her period.

Good luck!

You are most likely the father.
She probably ovulated around the 24th, assuming she had the 28 days cycle.
You slept with her on the 28th ofJan.
The ova/egg can still stay alive for 5 days, meaning that your shaku shaku on the 28th scored a goal. Issagoal

Edited- the egg actually stays alive for 24hours or so.
Don't get married because of pregnancy. Do your DNA test, and claim the baby if its yours

The baby is yours and I admire your courage to give your child the best. This baby mama brouhaha doesn't go down well with me. You don't need a ceremony. Just an official intro and a few court files will put things in place until she gives birth.

I have another question, posed to everyone: Upon conception, how soon does a woman display pregnancy signs, such as sensitive nipples, enlarging breast mass, and possibly changes in appetite?

Different body systems so different body symptoms. Some do not show until after 3 months while some will start showing as early as 3 days.

You're actually right, it's the sperm that lives longer.
I must have switched one for the other. Let me correct it before people are misinformed
OP, go and ask your be where she got the pregnancy from o... grin
Please na joke o.
As with a lot of things, there are a lot of uncertainties in medicine like having a clockwork menstrual period. You can't be 100% sure the child isn't yours. Getting married because of pregnancy is one of the strongest things to do, so wait till after the baby, do your DNA tests and if you're both happy go ahead and marry each other.

You can start seeing your symptoms very early. Like during my first pregnancy, a week or 5 days there about after sex, I noticed i started urinating more, IE frequent urination. Also full breast, slight spotting, pain in abdomen called implantation, loss of appetite, tiredness, nausea

You made absolutely no sense. Stop speaking from an emotional point of view. Dates were given. According to calculations chances are he is not the dad.Her period ENDED on the 10th, it didn't start on the 10th. Whether she menstruates for 2 days(unlikely) or 5 days(more probable), he still won't fall into the fertility period.

And you saying I shouldnt use fertility calculation, what to you want me to use, wishful thinking? cheesy

It varies. Some women can feel symptoms in the first week. Others don't know until they feel the baby kick. Its not a good way to determine time of conception.

I am a man but I can tell you not to rely on permutations. Every woman is different. I'm more concerned that you are not ready to get married but is considering it just because of pregnancy, that's the greatest mistake bro.
Marry her after the child is born and you can confirm the child is yours. There are no sentiments in these things. They never end well. Be warned.
