Hello house. Posted my interview transcript in Abuja a while back, finally Came in thru almighty Houston on Friday evening. Flew Emirates at 35W+2days. Took only doctors fit to fly which was accepted. Note the fit to fly has to state your EDD or else they won't accept. One pregnant woman on the same flight had to get another fit to fly from another doctor cos her initial one didn't have EDD. Flight was good, even the 17 hours. Didn't buy compression socks, but I did my own manual compression!! Wore the socks they gave me on the flight, drank a lot of hot water on the plane so I was peeing a lot. And I also walked around at intervals. Thank God no swelling. Got to IAH at about 6pm. Hurried out of the plane cos I wasn't ready for any long line. Got to the CBP officer and this was what ensued: CBP: passport please Me: passed it CBP: where are you going? Me: Richmond CBP: what are you here for? Me: I'm here to have my baby CBP: rolls eyes. And then checks his system for what seemed like an eternity. Place your four fingers here ma'am. And look at the camera. How long are you staying? Me: two months CBP: How much do you have on you? Me: 8645 CBP: when are you going back? Me: September He then stamps me in for three months! I wonder why. Me I sha took my passport and ran away. I was already prepared for secondary inspection with my fat envelope. Had deleted all implicating chats and nairaland stuff for nothing. Got my baggage and one officer stopped me. Said ma'am what foodstuff do you have in your bag? Told her crayfish dry fish, I don't remember all but I wrote a list and I could show you. I was still looking for the list when she said do you have gala? No. indomie? No. Maggi? Yes but not the chicken one. Fruits and veggies? No. Meat or chicken? No. How much do you have on you? 8645. It's for childbirth right? Yes. Okay you can go. Couldn't believe my yams scaled through!!!! That was it o. I was so shocked. Was done with everything in less than 30mins. No secondary inspection no agric no harassment. I just thank God for favor all the way! By the way they said they have stopped filling landing card or customs declaration form abi wetin dem dey call am. So I didn't fill any form, just the questions the CBP officer asked me. 8 Likes |

Mamaiyanu:Thanks and congratulations on POE too!!! Kuffour1267: My wife’s transcript is thus: DW: Good morning VO: Good morning. Please pass your passport? DW: okay. (Passing the passport). I have to inform you about changes in my DS-160 application form. VO: Go ahead. DW: My husband might not be coming with us for the vacation as he is likely to travel to other places on business during that period. VO: Okay. What does he do? DW: He works with ABC . VO: What does he do? DW: (knowing she didn’t answer well). He does M,N,O,P for ABC VO: How much does he earn. DW:He earns NXXXXXXX VO: (Still typing) How many kids do you have? DW: Two and one was born in the states.(i told her to lead the VO to the childbirth since it was apparent that is what they are looking for) VO: Okay, how much did you spend for the child birth? DW: Excluding living expenses, we spent $ xxxxx. That includes documentation for the child.(Opened her big folder to bring out budget sheet . sero balance, itemised bills, etc ) VO: No need. (Continues typing) VO: How long do you intend staying? DW: Two weeks maximum VO: Does your husband have a visa? DW: Yes, he has just been issued a visa few minutes ago as he has a meeting in the states next week. VO: (Types for a while and later smiled) Oh, I can see that. VO: Your visa has been approved, this paper explains…… DW: Thank you so much! It was all the Grace of God especially hearing about the trouble with itemised billing and proving that bills were not transferred to insurance or taxpayers. Neverthelesss, we went very prepared in terms of documentation. 14 Likes |

POE was Houston (IAH) I prepared for a long interview at the POE so I carried all my burden of proof relating to the child birth (I don’t want stories that touch). ME: Good afternoon CBP: Good afternoon. ME: (Handed in my passport without waiting for him to ask.) (I also made sure I displayed my bundle of old passport which from their covers were looking very rugged. I wanted him to realise that I have travel history and USA is no big deal really) CBP: Have you been in the states before? ME: Yes, you can see the proof of my last visit in the old visa at the back of the passport. I was here in …..for child birth. However, I came in twice that year as I escorted them here and came back to escort them back. CBP: Okay (Turned the passport to the last page and scrutunised it. He then turned to his screen to read for a while) CBP: What are you here for? Me: Business meeting in ……. CBP: When is the meeting? Me: The meeting is for DD & DD but my company policy is for atleast 24hrs rest prior to meeting and before long haul travel. So I intend to stay 6 days. CBP: Welcome back to the United States. Enjoy your visit sir.(Stamped me in for 6 months) Me: Thank you very much and do have a nice day. Time at CBP was about 2 mins max I am back in Nigeria since. I spent just the 6 days i estimated. I just pray the visa process will become easier and those people spoiling us for the embassy should please desist. I wish all applicants the best. Thank you all for your contributions as it was very instrumental in our success. 16 Likes |

Congrats !!! Very true @ people spoiling it for us at the embassy. It's annoying when people who have legitimate intentions are made to go through a tough process like exam just because some unscrupulous people want to spoil our country's name. KDK: |

Big Congratulations to you and family. I know people that have similar precedents and got their renewal visas denied. I must call it a big luck and of course preparation on your part. KDK: |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by KDK(m): 5:25pm On Jun 30, 2018 |
ibukunpops: Thank you! You are absolutely right. Even people with far better precedents have been denied. And this emphasises the point I have been trying to make, there is no clear cut way of having a visa approved. The US embassy interviews have no clear formula. One can have all the right boxes ticked and still get a denial. May God help is all. |

Wondering if there is really anything vital to give back. Anyway, I sent a letter of Change of Intent exactly 3 weeks ago and never recieved any reply from the embassy till date. I was determined to travel with or without it. Was booked to travel with Delta Airline on the 28th of June but on getting to the airport, discovered it was cancelled to 29th ie 12 hours delay difference. Later arrived JFK despite the delay about 4pm , everyone was asked to use the DIY machine to input their data b4 going to the CBP. Did as instructed and thereafter was assigned to a white female officer (serious looking) who asked me the following... Officer: Hello, why are you here? Me: childbirth and vacation Officer: What did you say? Me: Repeated same ..child birth and vacation ( looking straight into her eyes) Officer: How long gone are you? Me: Approximately 32 weeks Officer: How much do you have on you? Me: 9800 dollars as cash (silent on card details ) Officer: Stamped me 6 months and said enjoy your stay. Took me less than 2 mins there, no agric check. Cos it was late had to lodge in a hotel and proceeded to my connecting flight to Houston the next morning. 3 Likes |

I can only answer the first based on experience, no you won't be allowed to board if you don't have a Nigerian passport and a us passport when leaving the country. Eilenora: |

Congrats! And thank God for a smooth POE experience. I was at the airport when I heard on the speakers that the Delta flight was cancelled. Felt bad for the change of plans, but thank God it worked out for you. All the best and wish you safe delivery. NayaNdupu: |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Abiodunnn(f): 7:12pm On Jul 01, 2018 |
Hello house, I wrote a while back about how my visa interview in February went. I left Lagos around 11:25pm on Monday, March 5 aboard BA at 35 weeks. A copy of Fit to fly from my Doctor was collected. Lagos to London was a full flight and was smooth, i didn't get enough leg space, food was good and entertainment was ok. We arrived Heathrow around 4:55am London time. The waka to our boarding terminal long well well. After every every, i found a place to lay down to wait for my next flight which was for 9:55am. London to Miami was about 9hrs50mins, the flight was so scanty and we all had an entire row to ourselves, food was good too. One hostess gave me plenty snacks and water to hold while waiting for my connecting flight. We got to Miami around 2 pm and proceeded to the immigration queue. I think it was only our flight that arrived at the time so the queue was short and moved fast. CBP: hello, can i have your passport? Me: hello CBP: how long are you here for? Me: 11 weeks Then he stamped me in and returned my passport Me: im here for child birth o CBP: ok I couldn't find the page he stamped so i asked him how many months he stamped me in for and he said 6 months. I proceeded to claim my luggage and the duffel bag i kept my foodstuff was a mess, my yam flour had poured all over and my bag was white so i was stopped by an officer from agric. The officer i met at agric is a talkative, he sha talked about how his Cuban grandparents were cheated by USA blah blah blah. He checked my luggage and counted the $5,600 i had on me. Nothing was seized and he helped me make good of my messy bag. That was how i left to wait for my connecting flight to Houston on American Airlines. Miami to Houston was 3hrs+, flight was super windy and we got there 9pm Houston time on tuesday 6th march. I was super tired and waited for my host. I used Dr Xydas and HNWMC and gave birth on 24th april. Breakdown of my expenses: Dr Xydas: 2000 HNWMC: 2000 Pathology: 97 (for baby and i) Epidural: 650 Paed: 728 Follow-up paed: 250 (used Texas Children paediatrics) BC was delivered about 2 weeks after birth,i paid $75 for next day delivery. SSN got in via mail. I didn't get a near date for DH's appointment to notarize at the embassy so when i got the document the same week (monday)we were to return, i pleaded at the Houston passport office to get LO's passport the same day (Tuesday) which was granted. I applied for VOA on Wednesday and i got it the next day. I added baby's ticket on BA with $423 and paid at the airport. Cash wasnt accepted. Left Houston to London 4pm on sunday 27th may, i was mad when i discovered i didn't get baby bassinet, i complained and they said i didn't book early enough as we had many nursing mothers on-board. Fortunately for me, the seat next to me was empty. Food wasn't so great. Got to London around 5am and left for Lagos around 9:55am. Got a bassinet seat this time around but my baby didnt really use it, i carried him for most part of the journey. Got to Lagos past 6 and went to the VOA office, they didn't want to take cash but they did after a while. My son was stamped in for a month. And that was how the journey ended. To the people who helped me when i needed help: brooklyn20, zinny, and Ramj. Thank you so much, favour shall locate you at every point of need. To the friends i made here Dollarsolution and MadameW, thank you for the chats and everything even if we never met in person. Lines will always fall unto pleasant places for us. To all Nairalanders, i love you all 8 Likes 2 Shares |

You might need to look at this link https://www.nairaland.com/4116999/usa-visit-visa-part-3/294#68927886 Do you have travel history? have you been to other countries like the UK? Schengen etc? Is the conference related to your work? Having the conference in a different city from the vacation doesnt matter at all, you might have family in Newyork or prefer to shop and sight see in newyork deedet: |

For my son, I got a Nigerian Visa for him which was valid for one year then, and we travelled before he turned one and didnt get him Nigerian passport before the trip and we didnt have any issues at all. I didnt take my son when i went to deliver my second because I could leave him in trusted hands, as the stress will be much with all his wahala and big belle/new baby. But I have friends who have taken their toddler with them, it just depends on what your instinct tells you to do and if your daughter is a gentle girl sha. All the best Eilenora: |
