Henry240: See, now you are just trying to argue posting tiny parts of the story. You haven't gone and done your homework. 2006 requirements and Post-Obama spending cuts requirements are not the same. I already said over 140 units ordered. Go do your due diligence. |

patches689:No sir. Your post claims the C-27j was dropped because it fell below technical specifications. I provided evidence to prove your claim is false and in fact the C-27j passed all US military requirements and exceeded them in many cases. I believe you owe this board an apology. |

Henry240: Did I? patches689: I even specified over 140 units purchased thus implying that it had passed initial tests. patches689: Thus, citing its excellent performance in initial testing is merely emphasizing a point I had already conceded - it is an uncontested point. So now its not just a question of ignorance, its a question of illiteracy. 2 Likes |

patches689: You're making too many contradictory claims in one post. You claim the aircraft has too many limitations. I proved that claim is false with evidence it surpassed US military requirements. Or do you want an Afrikaans translation? |

patches689:american exceptionalism at its finest, after spending millions of american tax payer money to acquire UH-60 Helicopters for Afghanistan and even proposing that the afghanistan air force scrap its MI-17 helicopter fleet.now they are accepting UH-60 has limitation and its comparable with MI-17 in Afghanistan environment and task Pentagon Admits Afghanistan's New Black Hawks Can't Match Its Older Russian Choppers “The transition [from Mi-17s to UH-60s] presents several challenges that have yet to be fully addressed,” the report says in a section dedicated to the issue. “Black Hawks do not have the lift capacity of Mi-17s.” “They are unable to accommodate some of the larger cargo items the Mi-17s can carry, and in general, it takes almost two Black Hawks to carry the load of a single Mi-17,” the review continues. “Furthermore, unlike Mi-17s, Black Hawks cannot fly at high elevations and, as such, cannot operate in remote regions of Afghanistan where Mi-17s operate.” link http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/21558/pentagon-admits-afghanistans-new-black-hawks-cant-match-its-older-russian-choppers |

I can't find the OP but someone said the C27 Spartan will COST ALMOST 200 MN$!!? Even lifetime costs, that's impossible. The FAC is 53 mn with a yearly op cost incl. maintenance of 4.6 mn$,MAX PAYLOAD IS 6 t. Its performance is very similar to the AN 32 AND C 295,all are STOL though the latter are much cheaper FAC. The AN 32 carries 7.5 T, FAC 9 mn$,yearly cost 3.5 mn$. The C 295 FAC 35 mn$,yearly op cost is 4 mn$,carries 9 T. All prices here: http://nationsdawnofanera.weebly.com/transport-aircraft.html Id've gone for a complete squadron of the AN 32-our lift capacity is really low with the Y 12 and its 2.5 T Capacity being our largest-IMAGINE!? The IAF is very satisfied with their performance of over a decade, unless maybe nemesis8u knows smth I don't. Fyi,transporting a single battn. would take ALL our lift platforms presently. Nothing has changed since the fall of Kismayu. But,crucially, the Spartan has a pair of side doors which coupled with rear door allow faster paratroop dropping and the largest cargo volume of its class. The C-27J's carrying capacity was also described as unmatched in its class. It had large cargo compartment dimensions 2.25m high, 3.33m wide (more than seven feet high and nearly 11 feet wide) along with high floor strength (4,900kg/m). Jet engines for the F-16, Mirage 2000, Eurofighter and other aircraft such as the C-130 could be transported on their own stands without special equipment. Certain ground vehicles, including the wide HMMWV ("Hummer" could be carried without alteration.https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/c-27j.htm Hmmmm....also. The Spartan could remain on-station up to nine hours 200nm from its base, an important capability for search and rescue and maritime patrol operations. It could speed to the search area at 310 knots, then cover a large search area with its long endurance. The AN/APN-241 search radar and the night vision goggle compatible cockpit would help the crew locate small targets at long ranges and give an unmatched accurate, day-night, all-weather material airdrop capability. The OSI on the Spartan looks superb making this a good purchase. Newafricaken254,if it was you can you post up that link with that crazy 200 mn$ price? |
