Most buildings in Ibadan city are very old, & pple will still hv mind to live in those kind of house.
Its high time to pull most of those buildings down, they lack maintenance culture.

It is often over politicizes whenever any government decides to issue a warrant to demolish such buildings in Ibadan.

The opposition to the government often seizes the opportunity to use people's life to play selfish politics and such projects are hastily abandoned to protect political capital

There are still many of these type of worn out buildings in the inner city area of Ibadan that have been left to rot. The raining seasoning is probably also adding insult to injury.

I wish the injured speedy recovery.

The use of "Most buildings" is definitely not an accurate reflection of the reality on ground

A huge chunk of Ibadan population now live in new sites that are less than 20years old.

I escaped one yesterday. the houses in ibadan are death traps, how can someone build 3 storeys with mud? the rain has not helping them this year...

some portion of the house I rented failed, half of the storey building collapsed now am homeless.
Yoruba sophistication.

I first saw that in the North, Dabai and Katsina town (Katsina State) and I was like what the heck is this.

But I didn't know our sophisticated brothers are worst.

Anyway the abokis are not that stupid to extend that their death trap beyond a storey.

A collapsed building at Yemetu area in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, left two persons with serious injuries after the unfortunate incident. According to Abiodun Adewole, the weakened and dilapidated 3-storey building collapsed not before the occupants had escaped but two were not so lucky to have been caught in the tragedy.

The two injured victims were rushed to the hospital and appear to be recuperating.

God have mercy...

this is what you get when you compromise standard... very typical for Nigerians...

you will here things like...

Engineer: This project Should cost #10
Landlord: No... I can't pay that much.
Roadside bricklayer/Quacks: Oga bring #6 I go do am for you well well. I even sabi work pass that Oga. e one chop your money.
Landlord: Truth... Oya take #6 go do the work...
Roadside bricklayer/Quacks goes to the market...
Roadside bricklayer/Quacks: how much for these rods?
Seller: Oga this one na #3, That one na #4 and this one wen dey this side na #5, we still get the one of #7... so the choice is yours...
Roadside bricklayer/ Quacks: Oya give me the one of #3...

The building will definitely stand...
But the question is for how long

At the end of the day the man that does not want to pay #10 for quality job will end up spending #15 for damages, repairs etc.

more like penny wise, pounds foolish.

SON is not working
NSE structural is not working.

#standards should be maintained.

I understand you, but wen u take a look at these buildings located at d heart of Ibadan, its an eyesore, they lack propare maintain ace. its something the indigene has to take seriously.
If they can maintain these buildings, which some of them are located in a business area, they should sell it off.
