pizapato: Stop leaving the rates to the discretion of banks since you can not loose any money due to % you quote. I actually took 12% in 91 days as a risk and it pays off. |

Omonigeriarere: Thanks. We learn everyday I actually sent the instruction through email. For subsequent ones, I will specify the rate I want based on rates I see around. |

Omonigeriarere:For the sake of us learners, are you saying you placed a bid for the 91-day bills at 12% and it sailed? I'm asking cos the stop rate at the last auction was 10.0000% 5 Likes |

NL1960: I don’t know. I’m guessing the bank bought from the primary market and sold the same day to me, because today I added funds to the interest I got yesterday to round up the figure, went back to first bank and got 363 days at same 11% |

Hello House, Thanks to this thread, in March I could invest just 900k for my first time (wanted to start with 1m) in Treasury Bills at a rate of 13.55% p.a of which my interest was about N64,000. However, I may need to terminate it soon. How much should I expect to receive? Subscription was for 192 days Discount value was N836, 185.07 Maturity Date is 04 Oct. pls house, if i invest #300k on t. bills at the rate of 10% with duration of 91days. how much is likely to be the interest and when will the interest be paid?. tnks |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 4:54pm On Jul 08, 2018 |
teeymix16:The 10% is per annum which is N30,000. Therefore your interest is 30k divided by 4 (for 91 days which is a quarter of a year) which is N7500. Your interest will be paid within hours on the day of your investment. The bigger the initial investment, the higher the returns. |

Omoluabi9: Your N836, 185.07 is sure. The amount you will get extra as interest now since you didn't let it mature is subject to the number of days you held the investment and the percentage it would be resold to another buyer. 1 Like |

freeman67:My effective date was March 27, so I would have held for 3 months and 2 weeks if I terminate this week. Since my initial investment of 900k at 13.55% is about N335 per day. Does this mean 64K (initial interest) minus N335 x 3mths and 2 weeks? Where does the new percentage to new buyer come into this? Thanks freeman67! |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by freeman67: 6:55pm On Jul 08, 2018 |
Terminating it tomorrow you would have held it for about 98days. Your daily interest is about 332.7 instead because transaction and custody fees was deducted from it too. If it is sold at that exact rate you got it you would neither loose nor gain. However the prevailing market rate seem to be lower than the rate you got it. If sold at the prevailing market which is hovering around 11. you should gain more. Hope your contract didn't state any penalty for not keeping to terms? 1 Like 1 Share |
