hopefulLandlord: The problem from independence has been welfarisim....which in practice means economies based on sharing the goodies...which means you end up with overimportation, and little need for industries and innovation. Japan and China don't have much resources to export (Japan is just a rock filled group of islands)...so they innovate. Nigeria just jumps from one resource to the next. That's what I tell people...but they will accuse you of being anti-progress... Problem is, the resources we are exporting won't provide us with enough revenue forever...so maybe we might go industrial. 1 Like |

Smartademu: It's sad we have this mindset , if the government's efforts aren't enough it's not bad if private institutions or individuals provide these needs at a cost , the point to bring out of this is that we need better health care or schools than places of worship. Are Americans not rich as well , do they build churches like we do I blame the government as much as I blame our religious leaders 2 Likes 1 Share |

Cusdamato:Churches are exploiting the poor, they are helping to increase the number of the extreme poor by taking the little they have to chase building projects, private jets, private universities and flamboyant lifestyles of the promoters of the churches and their immediate family members, I pray you are able to comprehend because you are all gullible |

post=69192742: I don't think God is interested in the size of the church as much as lives of men. Souls are perishing, and if this celebrated feat does not translate to souls for christ, then its meaningless. Perhaps if we commit more resources to evangelizing and reaching the unsaved, corruption and decay in our society would reduce. Maybe fulani herdsmanism wouldn't be a threat. 1 Like |

The annoying part of this is that banks are financing them, they crowd out the loanable funds as the banks prefer to loan to a church than to a manufacturing company. Pay back never a problem since funds from donations from looters, ritualists and kidnappers are readily pushed to churches |

What is the motive of this biggest church? Why is the church not sited in the rural area, where we have more poor people? I counted 33 churches in my street alone (in P/Harcourt). I think, it is High time government regulate religious activities & administration in Nigeria. |

hotspec: i am in support of all these and i'd rather the churches continue with such and even make profit, than them building large auditoriums. tomorrow, another person will wake up and say God gave him vision to build 150,000 capacity auditorium and the circle continues like that. |

virago:Mindset? You have forgotten we are Africans and do not expect us to have the same mindset as Americans, we are different and so is our way of life. BTW when has it become the duty of the church to provide all these things you are talking of? Someone was even asking why the church is not creating jobs, funny. The church's role in the society is mostly spiritual and where they can, assist their communities physically and the church is trying in that area. 1 Like |

frankmoney: i know they bought it. only a failed govt would keep selling lands to religious organizations to build large auditoriums for worship. lands that should be reserved for people who are ready to create employment and develop the country. |

jeffoe: Precisely the problem with this country. People are committing suicide out of lack and zero choices yet some 'pastors' are busy scamming their congregation so that they can buy private jet and build the biggest church auditorium in the world. It is well. 1 Like |

Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” Matt. 24:1, 2. Biggest church and churches in the world and the country is one of the most corrupt in the world, one of the country in the world with most looting, one of the countries in the world with most great false prophets, pastors, GOs, etc, who collected the monies of their followers and people, even stolen money, by preaching false and corrupt messages and lies and speaking by demons, and become very rich and sit on... It is truly the biggest house of buying and selling and merchandising in the world. 1 Like 1 Share |

Smartademu: So it's not the church duty to provide these things but the church collects from the society in the form of offering and tithes abi , the worst thing is churches and religious institutions are not taxed yet they collect hugely from the society with no apparent service they provide. If you care about the advancement of this country you won't be talking like this. |
