Sad.... But true
I wanted to join in the chorus but i decided to take a step back.

Truth be told, Nigerians are hypocrites. If you move all the Nigerians in Nigeria to Norway and all the Norwegians in Norway to Nigeria, you'll see that in no time the Nigerians in the now relocated Norway will turn Norway into the old Nigeria where nothing works.

The problem of Nigeria is all mindset. Nigerian leaders do not magically fall from the sky. Our leaders are an exact replica of the society. We can always try to make our leaders the boogeyman, but the truth we as Nigerians are avoiding is the Nigerian populace, not the leaders are the main problem with Nigeria.

It is the fact. Beegeagle, peccavi and everyone else complaining in that thread, you and i, and every Nigerian here is the cause of what is wrong in Nigeria.

Take for example, the Beegeagle twitter handle clearly says, this is the twitter handle of Beegeagle, Africa's largest "Defence blog". But how many times has he used that "Defence" handle to make irrelevant posts about sports, entertainment and every day lifestyle in Nigeria?

What about all of us here, despite what the title of the thread says, how many times have we made completely irrelevant posts not related to the topic here?

We cannot as Nigerians continue to point accusing fingers at others, when 4 fingers are pointing directly back at us.

If Nigeria is a failed state like Beegeagle assumes it is primarily the fault of Beegeagle, peccavi, Lionel, Henry, Bidexii, Iblawi, krattos, Jake and every other Nigerian in Nigeria or abroad who has failed to follow the rule of law.

It is not because Nigerian leaders have failed, it is because the entire Nigerian population, leader and citizens have failed.

This is the truth.

The beegeale example sited as an indictment is a little confusing. Was he comparing disfavourbly the Nigeria gorvenment's reactions to killings in the country to the Thai gorvenment's reaction to a national drama that has attained international intrest ? Or was he making a wider point, comparing disfavourbly Nigerians sensitivity to tragedy compared to that of the Thai people?

I am not even sure if the great conserns shown by the Thai for a small group of children is example of the magnitude of thire humanity compared to ours or if it is simply easier to show great conserns for something small, knowing that it is surmountable and the consiqunces spectacular since it captures world sentimentality, compared to huge issues with national existential implications requiring decades to resolve if possible.

it's all very odd, this our seasonal emoting, I mean there are many instances of Nigerians doing crowd funding for individuals in need, groups forming for girls kidnapped by Bokoharam, organisations set up to assist IDP,'s, Doctors placing thire lives on the line during Ebola, teachers continuing to educate even without pay and so on. Conversely, I am sure there are instances of Thai gorvenments apparent callousness in the face of national civil conserns, turning blind eyes for instance to the child abuse of thire females and males for that matter by forigners....

lol, as long as it's piloted remotely, haha, no way in hell I'm getting into that thing.
And yep, it doesn't seem to be capable of flight, I mean, with what? lol That thing looks like metals welded together.
Prototype or no prototype, it's an eyesore . It could look a bit better, Jeez. Like something an elementary kid put together, smh

oh the irony....... Don't have to watch a video to see the contraption resembling some sort of helicopter can't fly

Pic..... Helicopter built out of scrap..... Looks more airworthy than the contraption in your video... Literally!!!

The fact that corruption has destroyed most sector in these country does not mean Nigeria is a failed state.

Beegeagle himself is a FAILED dude since he ventured into politics, history etc..

It is not because Nigerian leaders have failed, it is because the entire Nigerian population, leader and citizens have failed.

This is the truth.

Thank God you didn't mention me grin cos I'm not part of them that has failed the country. And as much as I want to agree with you cos I know u're a true patriot speaking from the pain of how our dear Nigeria is being reduced day in day out from it's true potential I don't agree every one you mentioned or everyone on this thread is part of the cycle of failure in the Nigerian project just because someone else derailed. Every society in the world has it's good and bad. Even in law enforcement professionals know everyone breaks the law somewhere; so posting off-topic on Nairaland is not synonymous with Nigerianness.

Thus again my 1 kobo on the matter is the problem lies with the political structure of Nigeria and the rulers who have abused it since independence which one way or the other has created the frustrations in society. We cannot blame the ordinary man on the street who has had no say on the matter or whose voice has not been heard for 100 years or whose vote has been disenfranchised by corrupt politicians or who has been so bastardized into the politics of money because he has to eat cos the average politician in Nigeria knows that's one means to keep him in perpetual subjugation. The Nigerian must free himself else it won't change—this is what they did in Europe because no one gives it to you (an example is the French Revolution).

Nigerians can't be voting the same class of people into power and expect something different. The traditional culture is also a challenge that breeds the unending cycle of bigmanism which is a curse and then moneybags who have no sense of civility. The youth must help transit the nation into a modern political culture by asserting themselves else just like we haven't seen stable electricity for most of our lifetime we might not even see it for another 100 years if the current trend persists, that I can tell you.

Here's the problem: in Nigeria value is not placed on the human being. That's the difference between us and them in the west. The day a leader shows up that frowns on human indignity in Nigeria then we have just begun. To do that there must be a social scheme because it is forever impossible for everyone to be rich. These are the basics of good governance lacking in Nigeria: Educate the poor, feed the hungry, provide stipends to the unemployed, house the homeless, give medic aid to the sick, build the roads, provide power then boom! No one is gonna risk crossing the Sahara desert and for what?

The social indicators may have failed in many areas but the Nigerian state hasn't failed. It fails the day the centre can no longer hold.

This right here needs be highlighted.

The news media works up a frenzy and everyone should follow suit, well not me. In this same Thailand a boat sunk off the coast and many dead and I'm asking where's the media frenzy? Are they not human lives? What of the numerous children dying everyday from indiscriminate bombing and starvation elsewhere? Yes our hearts are touched for those beautiful 12 souls in the cave being rescued but to unduly sensationalize it over other desperate situations is hypocrisy and worse comparing it to a different dynamic of conflict in Nigeria not a natural disaster but a result of wickedness by fellow human beings.

Thailand is not exactly a good reference point for comparing good governance with the federal government of Nigeria that has managed to keep Nigeria as one state despite actively fighting a war on multiple fronts sponsored by domestic and foreign enemies bent on it's destruction & non-existence as a state.

Look at what we have done with the Private Security Company I brought here some weeks back.
Though we are still having legal issues with some of our works like "Cooperate and Forensic Investigation" and "Body guard". Because the Nigerian govt have strict laws in those aspect.
But the world of Security is fast evolving... so I am positive they will eventually license us.

That's your boy in the first and last picture grin

World’s first digital laser unveiled in South Africa

"Researchers at South Africa's Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) have unveiled the world's first digital laser.

The innovation is regarded as a milestone in laser technology and could spur future laser-related developments.

CSIR researcher Sandile Ngcobo conducted the breakthrough experimental work as part of his PhD studies.

The laser will allow the scientists to digitally control laser beams and shape new ways of developing technology that will improve various aspects of everyday such as faster broadband and medical advancements."

Laser innovation was from 2013. One wonders if a few inquisitive minds at Armscor and Denel have poked their heads at the CSIR to ask if there might be any military applications. Just speaking out loud....
