A ball of mass 10kg strikes a wall normally with a velocity of 5ms-1 and travels back with
the same velocity. Calculate its impulse on the wall.

Calculate the velocity of the wave represented by the following wave equation
y =20sin(60(pie)x - 0.5(pie)x) ,
if all the distances are in metres.

A stone is projected vertically upwards with a velocity of 20ms. Two seconds later, a second stone is projected similarly with the same velocity. When the two stones meet, the second one is rising at a velocity of 10ms. Calculate (i)the length of time the second stone is in motion before they met. (ii) velocity of the first stone when they met. (g=10ms)

PS I NEED WORKINGS. DON'T JUST COME AND DROP ANSWER

TAKE TIME TO READ THIS PLEASE

As we all know, the PUTME is around the corner. If you have not started preparing, it is very dangerous at this moment. UI might decide to use only UTME and PUTME . If that's so it means you must be very careful. The UTME score as far as I'm concerned is not very important . Take for instance, Ojo scored 304 in UTME, Adaobi scored 280 . They both wrote the putme and Ojo had 70% while Adaobi had 82%. At the end of the computation, Ojo will score an overall mark of 73% while Adaobi will have 76%. This means if I beat u with 8 marks in utme , if u beat me with 2marks in PUTME , u will catch up with me.
This is where we have to be careful. This is the time to read like never before. Do all you can to beat those in front of you. Remember, you have to read now with precision. Don't waste time, go straight to the point, know your weak areas and cover up fast.
Don't forget, the road might be rough and crowded but the top is not crowded. UI won't admit more than 3000+ and about 20+ are going to sit for this exam . How can you make it like others who did? Do you have a target score ? Do you think you have what it takes to make it into that course you have been dreaming of ?
Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, the time is now to buckle down and bring out the action in you because you have made it this far so you can defy all odd and book a place in the FIRST and the BEST university.

Let me quickly introduce you to a tutorial right under your nose that is willing to help you with your preparations. In fact, once you step into it, you should start seeing yourself as a student.

May I present to you TBOSE TUTORS..........

From F = ma
But, a = V-U/t
.: F = mv-mu/t.
Impulse = F * t
Which implies that:
Impulse = Ft = mv-mu.
Final velocity of the ball just before hitting the wall,V, is 5m/s and the initial velocity of the ball after hitting the wall and moving in opposite direction is -(5m/s).
.: The impulse of the ball of mass 10kg on the wall = Ft = mv-(-mu) = mv + mu = (10 * 5) + (10 * 5) = 50 + 50 = 100N.s

I think there is a mistake in the equation or perhaps I don't understand the question. There is supposed not to be two xs in the equation, but there can be t and x in the equation. Using y=Asin[2(pie)ft-2(pie)x/lamda] You will then equate this equation with the one you were given in the question. Check the question again.

(ii) velocity of the first stone when they met. (g=10ms)

i) From V = U - gt (since the body is moving against gravity)...
Initial velocity,U, of the second stone is 20m/s.
Final velocity,V, of the second stone when they met is 10m/s.
.: 10 = 20 - 10t
10-20 = - 10t
-10 = - 10t
.: t = 1 second.

ii) The first stone have travelled for 2 seconds in air before the second stone was projected.
The second stone travelled for 1 second before meeting the first stone.
From the question,the first stone have reached its maximum height and is now falling back when it met the second stone still rising after 1 second.
.: From V = U + gt
Where the initial velocity of the first stone when falling from its maximum height is zero and the time it has fallen before metting the second stone is 1 second.
.: V = 0 + gt
V = gt
V = 10 * 1 = 10m/s
Since the first stone is now falling down ( ie. moving in a direction opposite to its initial direction),....
.: V = - 10m/s.
