Kweeen:Stick to the truth... Life goes beyond schooling in the US or getting an F1 visa. YearS before I got my F1 visa, I had applied for B1B2 (work related) and indicated I have people in the US - I never thought I'd need to leave the country to visit them so I could have easily lied as people had said I should... Years later, I used one of my relations in the US as a sponsor... What if I had lied initially? 7 Likes |

Temitayo1949: The situation is not hopeless as such. Catch a break for now, and reapply with a more strengthened application. Work on your answers in the mean time before you refire. But I'll warn that people should not joke with their chances by peddling needless and verifiable lies. You claim you're going to study, be intelligent while doing so. Some responses by interviewees here just make me wanna weep for some people. It's better you put up a gallant fight and are denied than going there to make avoidable 'silly' mistakes, only to admit "I fumbled". Peace Profound! |

HI GUYS, silent reader here. Took me a while to post this but still, just want to say a big thank you to you guys for sharing your experiences and also the vetting of proposed transcripts on here. I went for the interview at Abuja on the 30th of June and i was put on Administrative processing. My visa was eventually issued on the 6th of July, about 6 days later. Transcript: I was interviewed by the older nice white woman, can't remember the exact window because of tension. I just think i was lucky because it wasn't the younger white woman that had on a sweatshirt and baseball hat. She didn't look nice at all and was dishing out lots of rejections. Me: Good afternoon madam VO: Hi good afternoon. Can you hand my your i20 please? Me: *hands over i20* Here you go VO: I can see that you want to go to the University of South Carolina. What do you want to study and why did you choose USC? Me: I am going to USC for my masters degree in Electrical engineering. I decided to go with USC because it was the best fit for my profile. I had targeted Ivy league schools initially but after getting my GRE score, i had to compromise a little and carry out a lot of research on USnews.com and Princeton review for schools that were good enough for my profile and USC seemed like it because of the excellent research facilities in their faculty of computing and electrical engineering. VO: What year did you finish your BSc.? Me: 2016 VO: What have you been doing since then? Me: I have been working in the telecoms industry VO: What do you plan to do after getting this degree? Me: Getting this masters degree and the expertise that comes with it will give me an advantage and i will be able to apply for more competitive positions when i am back in Nigeria. I have been able to establish contact and made friends and mentors in my current company and other companies in the telecom industry, I'm confident lots of opportunities brought about by this degree will be waiting for me when i am back in Nigeria. ( I also said something about starting my consultancy firm later in the future) VO: I can see from your i20 that you were given a research assistantship and partial funding. Do you have the offer letter for the assistantship? Me: hands over offer letter VO: Goes through offer letter then types into her computer VO: Who will take care of the expenses not covered by the funding? Me: I have been able to save some money and i will be taking care of my travel costs and initial settling in expenses (I am entitled to monthly stipends based on my assistantship). My aunt is my primary sponsor and will take care of the outstanding costs. VO: Do you have her bank account statement?(I'm surprised she didn't ask what my aunt does or why she was sponsoring me instead of my parents) Me: Hands over statements (Yes there were actually 2 different accounts, same holder though.) VO: *goes through first statement* This account does not have up to the amount required by the i20 Me: Yes madam, but there is the statement of the other account owned by my aunty *points out the second bank account statement to her* VO: Oh i see. This is alright. VO: Are you married? Me: No VO: Okay I will be holding on to your passport and your account statement. We will need to run some checks to verify that these documents are genuine. You do realise that if they are found to be fake, You will be banned from entering the US for 10 years. Me: Yes the documents are legit. VO: So I can go ahead and submit them? I will need your permission. Me: Yes madam, you can go ahead. VO: *hands me the small white slip, the slip with the pick up addresses and my i20* Here is your i20. You will need to have it on you at the point of entry. Make sure you arrive in the US before your resumption date stated in the i20. Any later date and you won't be allowed entry into the US. Do you have any questions? Me: No madam, thank you. VO: Have a good day. I'm just grateful my interview was not as gruelling as i thought it would be. Best of luck to you guys that have interviews coming up. Cheers!! 27 Likes 3 Shares |

So I decided to join this forum because I didn't want anyone to fall mugu to any yeye visa agent like I did... It was really bad....I didn't know there could be some kind of reward in it for me. Went for my visa today 6:30 am, it was just a fascinating conversation that left me deaf! What visa agents do to people ehn? May God help us all, and the way people were by that gate waiting the coming of our Lord , just to see if you will come out with White or blue paper..how won't they refuse people! If I start telling you there were blue papers then I may forget to tell you that they had wings / were flying....but you my friend are different so believe and go for it! Me: Good morning .. Vo: Good morning ma'am, pass me your I-20 and passport... how are you today? Me: I'm okay, how are you? Vo: Oh! I'm fine, thanks. What state did you say you are going to again? Me: Florida,....Miami Florida. Vo: What school are you going to there? Me: Florida international university. Vo: Oh! And which program? Me: International business.... Vo: Why this school? Me: Out of all the schools I applied to, they offered me graduate assistantship..... Vo: Ooh! Hmp! Me: .... that covers some of my tuition expenses and stipends. Vo: Types... Looking at me from somewhere else while typing... Me: Looking at her while admiring her person.... Vo: So you picked this school because of the funding? Me: Yes! I did..... and their school ranks 7th in international business... Vo: Oh!! Typing...so did you take any test for this funding... Me: Ma,am?? Vo: Did you take any test? Me: Oh! Yes I took my GRE, I scored .. ***.. Vo: Could you tell me the break down? Me : The verbal is uhmm... ***, quantitative is ***, analytical is *! Vo: hmmm...typing and looking at me from a screen or something somewhere... Vo: What do you plan to do with this degree? Me: I want to be able to own and manage a consultancy firm of my own in the future ....that will focus mainly on exportation of goods and services here in Nigeria. Vo: Ooh okay!!! Who is paying? Me: My uncle is sponsoring, my mom will be supporting me where necessary... I Laugh. Vo: She laughs do you have their SOA? Me: Yes! yes I do..... Fetching only my uncle's SOA ,..she was watching me caaaarefully like a hawk....I hand it to her. Vo: Looks and says "you are sure your uncle is okay with you taking this"? It's very bulky.......she sighs and look through, laughing. Me: Yes! Vo: What does this your uncle do? Me: He owns a haulage company of his own and fuel station around the Eastern part of the country. Vo: hmhmm! She seem to be looking at my face on a screen somewhere.... Or something.. Vo: Are you married? Me: No, I'm single . Vo: Any kid .. Me: No, I laughed ... Vo: Laughed too.... You mean no child outside wedlock... Me: I smiled, chuckled then shook my head... (in my mind { abeg make una no koba meoo, I no know if you don go born outside wedlock} ) Vo: Then she typed, looked at my face and typed some more.... ... Still typing.... Vo: Guy your visa is approved (I deaf!) please make sure you take your I-20 to... something.....keep it well something.... something... Like that... Me: Thank you very much...have a lovely day ... She was reading my body language a lot !! but it was more like she wanted to talk some more or just to know my kind of person NOT looking for a reason to Deny me. Ubah1 ... God bless you! And every single person that spends their time to help others here... Lagosismyhome. Imperiouxx Ekiee's Ladyguinivere Omobendel24 Seyewest Franknetter Justwise One other Wooden guy like that Femi312 Tolatif Ladylco Ayenikunle KDK I can keep going but you all....are amazing! Indeed there is God and there is need for prayers! You will know when you face situations that are " deus ex machina" ..... Good luck to you all.. In fact my war with the visa agents just started. Hold your schools to give you funding if you can. Ladies Don't rub too much eye-shadow and pancake nau, Wear good shoes. Guys! wear good shoes and sucks, don't wear 1,500 to F1 visa interview . Don't try to state things the way you wrote/cram them...Change them as quickly but calmly as you can..Don't wear dead/old shirts nau...I kuku wear white. Finally, be nice to everyone you see, someone somewhere is watching, for instance, I caught my Vo looking at me when I was laughing at the queue woman and when I was helping one mama like that. She kuku gave I and that mama. Thank you God!..... 29 Likes 5 Shares |
