If I were to give advise, I'd say wait a minute. Is your 181k job so bad that you are willing to quit for the unknown and the uncertain. Or is there a strong reason why you want to tow this path, have you REALLY given this a thought.
Being a driver on ride share carries its own disadvantages, even when you own the car. You will get maltreated by riders, insulted by children, abused by ladies of ill repute , harrangued by worldly traffic enforcement officers as a result of your status as a ride share driver.
The job has its fair share of hazards and risks, it is underpaid and overworked. You will even be starving hungry like this and your rider will bring out hot steamy aromatic KFC chicken and be chewing it loudly in the AC of your car. Your stomach acids will be screaming at you to collect the chicken and swallow it whole. Such is the life of a ride share driver.
But if there are so many of us doing it, maybe it has a few rewards. How do those rewards compare to the rewards of a 181k job? I don't know.

I don't too fancy 9-5 work. I am better productive in a casual setting. Where i can be at work 24 hours of the day, anytime I get the grips to, I go into my study and work. That is my idea of a job.
Being an unemployed graduate, I needed something to do. Ride share fit right into my plans and allowed me to earn money till I decided what I really wanted to do.
I thoroughly enjoyed the loose formality of Uber.
And I was at my best productively.
Socially, I would say was quite good too. I met soooo many great people, and I more often than not connected with my riders.
It was indeed a fun social experiment for me. On an average, I met 10 new people everyday and about 4 repeat meetings.
I hear someone thinking "na friend we go chop".
Well true. But what is so wrong with making friends AND money, especially out of the same person. Talk about 2 birds, one stone.
Most importantly, I made money. Pardon my saying this, but I like to think I'm a socially open person. Because of this, people tended to call me for offline trips. And I made a good amount of money doing this.
So why not?
Give this a goood thought, there will be rainy days. But remember they never last.
If I were you, I would give it a good thought, hedge my bets if possible. Practise at weekends for a month before taking the plunge (even that might not give you a full sense of the job). Think of it as padding your runway, you most likely will fly, but what if you fall?

I just have this to say; don't let any negative response dissuade you from your goals.even if you earn 300k a month, and your not happy with the job,it means next to nothing. the people trying to discourage you don't know what you're going through. true e-hailing has it's ups and downs,but why are they still in the biz? ask yourself?like Dovehorizon and someone else rightly pointed out,why not test the waters first,then make up your mind afterwards.
I hate negative energy. I ignore them. every business has it's perks.e-hailing inclusive. it's your call.make it

nowadays one can wait more, not like when request are more than available drivers then. Btw one day i waited for 20 mins. Taxify. Someone actually requested for her. (i made up my mind i would stress her too) when she came out, i cracked the engine and zoomed off. She call begging me to please come back... I said ok, i am coming back. I canceled the ride and moved to a different position. (next time she wont keep another driver waiting that long)

I did almost same thing to one lady on Ogataxi. When I got there I called her, she said she was coming down . After about 7 minutes I called again she said same thing. After about another 7 minutes I called again she said same thing. And she wasn't going far at all. I left almost when she came down . She called me about two times to cancel and I told her to cancel it . According to her she couldn't cancel, finally I cancelled after a long time. When she called I just wanted to hear am sorry from her to cancel . But she ended up insulting me. I did all this to teach her to treat the next driver better. Cheers.

My brother resigned from one of the most popular multinational coy, where he had risen to a very top position as a result of work ethics. Believe me that no organization will be paying that sum without what we call capacity utilization, and in some coy, they will keep u as late as 11pm or even 12am cos u need to deliver on your job.
Let this guy quietly answer those questions and follow suit what his conclusions without bias.

Think about this bro ... people that are advising not to quit your job ..most are doing uber, how come they don't quit uber now ..uber is very profitable if you own ur car .. I knw a guy that drives his own on uber and makes 100k a week.. So those he now have two heads? And think about it that 180k u make a month, is their any chance that you can get an increase? No matter how hard ehailing is or competitive, you will make money .the only thing is you might have to wrk long hours... trying doing to part time and go from there.. To give you an example I have an old man that drives for me ,the man should be about 50years old ... this man always delivers his rental before time ,at least two days before bos due time.. Now imagine if this old man owns his car ,and calculate how much he will be making monthly.. Now does he have two heads?
Give a shot my guy ..most of these people that are saying don't try, tell them to stop driving.. There is money in it ,you just have to strategize .

Only take the advice of full time drivers not , not the ones that do it for fun.

Most flashy comments here are coming from people (car owners) who don't drive on the platform. They have drivers driving for them. They don't know what it takes to drive for 18hours everyday.
You will be driving for yourself. Ask a full-time driver ( preferably, one that owns his car) to shed more lights to you.
You can take a leave for two or three weeks as someone stated and explore this 'lucrative' e-hailing biz.
The choice is yours to be convinced or confused.
