Unnecessary braggado. Una go just deh brag on top nothing. The Igbo man didn't respond to the the question. List the markets that has other Nigerians trading there was the question rather he went on a bragging spree.

That response was thrash. Yorubas have lots of shops in Europe and all other parts of the world. In Dubai for instance, the sellers there speak little yoruba. So many times I heard them say "bawo ni"? and many other Yoruba words but never an igbo word. Even the people who are mostly into freight there are yorubas.

no one said yorubas don't have shops in other parts of nigeria. The igbo guy was responding to the comment of the hausa guy concerning doing business in the east. That hausas or yorubas do not own a lot of shops in the east does not mean that the igbos refused to sell to them. The igbo guy even gave an example, no hausa man will be brave enough to buy a shop in main market onitsha if he's told the price but an igbo man will buy it and make it work. The response was epic and i have nothing more to add to that. Igbos buy or build whatever they have in other parts of nigeria. If you want to do business in the east come and buy or build shops or industries in the east. Its very simple.

you people are just pathetic. So its the fault of the igbos that a yoruba or hausa man can't come to main market onitsha or ariaria market aba and pay for a shop to do business there abi? If you want a shop or land in the east come and buy. Nobody is holding you back.

Something is off Sir. If Yoruba can go the North or the Northerners can come to the West and are unwilling to go to the East then something is off.

I have lived in Enugu (SE), Lagos (SW), Port Harcourt (SS) and Abuja (NC) and ocasionally went to Kano for business and I can tell you that the least accommodating is towards the north. It is easier to live with an Igboman or Yorubaman (I lived over 20yrs in Lasgidi) than a core northerner

At any slight provocation, they can kill or burn your shop. Even if you practice their religion, if you aren't a core northerner, they discriminate. I am not here to play tribal and religious card but stating it as I saw it.

Lord bless you...have you wondered why dangote investment is in South more ...because north is volatile...always burning and riotiing, I call them pyromaniacs

My Brother, the question is simple. To mention just three financial Federal government project in the whole of East, not concession and stuffs like that.

Surprisedly, Tell the world three capital projects Lagos state has done outside Federal built structures since Independence.

Lol... grin
You make me laugh in the way you view economic development.

Government is a facilitator for economic drivers. They do this in many ways, sometimes through policies, other times through infrastructures...and even sometimes they do both.

Do not dismiss and disqualify concession as a major revenue generator.

Ask Babalakin how he is doing in Ikeja Airport.

For Lagos State
1- Education. (LASU)
2- Metro Transportation
3- Waste & Sewage

Market draw people in, not other way.

When people are not drawn to a market there is problem.

Market and diversity go hand in hand. If you want market to grow and pull poeople in you encourage diversity.

Note: I said capital projects.

Every state has a state university. Metro Transportation is yet to be completed, The VisionScape? Please send pictures of there facilities.

That means in the whole of East there's no financial Federal project. I just want to point that out.

Nice Quote from the response:

"Igbos don't wait for free land or free portion to be allocated to them, they buy them from indigenes who always have it free by inheritance or by allocation but doesn’t know what to do with them. Only quota system worthless person will wait for allocation before he starts a business."

and who says there is no diversity in the east? How are you guys finding this hard to understand? We can't force anyone to come to the east and do business. Hausas are doing their cattle business in the east peacefully and unchallenged and are even given free land to do so but having a shop is different. If i have a shop to sell with a certain price tag and an hausa or yoruba man wants to buy the shop below my asking price but an igbo man gives me my asking price, who do you expect me to sell to? Even you, who would you sell to?

So you mean there's no market where outsiders comes in to trade. Not even the Onitsha market?

I have personally heard two Hausa men discussing that they love the quiet life they are living in the south east compared with everyday fight in the north. On another occasion one approached me and said he wants a gateman job I told him that he already has cows then he said Oga no be my own o I am tired of walking around for another man cows. In this life PEACE has no substitute.

Your answer have proven that you didn't compete fairly to get there but rather out of appeasement.

Mr Hausa,
pls note that nobody allocates shop to anybody in Igbo land. You rent a shop. The problem you hausa people and others have is that you always want everything free. It doesnt work that way. Igbos in the north, southwest and south south pay shop rents or buy your land to build their shops. They dont get anything free from any of you so pls stop making noise. In the east too and all over the world we pay rents for shops.

[quote author=Lloydfather post=69355124]Igbos are not accommodating, yet it's an Igbo man that will see an illiterate Hausa man, employe him as a ma gard (security man) pay him 25,000 to 35,000. WITHOUT QUALIFICATIONS. Even gave him money and space in front of his house to do business .

Who will want to do business or live among cannibals? Igbos would like to flood to other people's land like refugees, but you can't point to anyone who goes to their own land and live there comfortably, talk less of making money!

Igbos don't love themselves:
# It got me laughing, But they help each other in trades. They've overtaken trade sphere in Nigeria.
# Despite there love for commerce, they shut down there businesses on May 30th, just to show love to there fallen heroes.
#They gave 95% block vote to Jonathan, no other zone can boost of such figure.
if u say igbos love themselves, WHY DO IGBOS STILL PRACTICE THE OSU NONSENCE? the same igbo blood cannot inter marry, the same igbo blood cannot eat together, ebonyi are considerd inferior to anambra and u said they loves each other. some osu that are considerd slaves in their land when they come to the north they become kings because of the simplicity of the northerners. the fact remains IGBOS ARE MORE HOSTILE TO THEIR VISITORS COMPERED TO HAUSA AND YORUBA

What is 'off' is that there are free allocations and government patronage based on ethnicity in the West and North. But nothing like that in the East. Lovers of quotas and free allocations naturally avoid East.
