Wow! this is good, I have been thinking that how can a sane mind vote for someone that has stop paying salary since last year October, but on a closer look, I discovered it's some disgruntled elements from the east, not even the concerned people, I don't even know what concern them with Yoruba election. How can you own several months salary despite Federal government bail out and still have the audacity to campaign, to do what? to continue the suffering? and the annoying part is even the PDP man that's going we don't even know him, he doesn't talk,... nothing, nothing, it's obvious he want to be Fayose puppet. And to those elements that think that is Fayose that is stopping herdsmen from invading Ekiti, stop thinking with your anus, all other 5 states in south west are own by the APC and their has not been Fulani herdsmen invasion, so their is no point, I know that's their only campaign strategy and it is no longer working. And to those that still think Buhari won't win 2019 that even up till now their is no candidate from the major opposition party, can u please raise your hand, and now use that hand to knock your head for thinking such nonsense. Congratulation Fayemi, congratulation Ekiti. you are free from the shackles of a comedian governor and stomach infrastructure agenda. 1 Like |

newbie2018: Bro our electioneering process is still very much a work in progress we all know, but trust me when I tell you that without those financial inducements the election would have been a charade. You and I know how we think as Nigerians, a lot of folks would have chosen to chill at home than come out for the elections. Not the right way to get people out to vote though...but with the hunger in the land its safe to say the strategy was apt. We'll get there no doubt when money politics stops been a part of our electioneering lexicon. That'll happen when every facet of our national lives has been adequately sorted and the poor would no longer rely on politicians doling out crumbs to buy their votes. |

I think this has sent message to everyone; it is over for PDP in Nigeria, 16 years of looting and backwardness is over. if we are being sincere with ourselves, we don't expect what took PDP(Obj, Gej) 16 years to destroy to be repair in three years. IPOB, get this to your thick skull, if u dont support Buhari in 2019, you will never rule Nigeria ,it's for your own benefit because with or without you Buhari will win 2019. Buhari till 2023, Osinbajo till 2031 lastly, election is not won on Nairaland, it's people that determine election and the bitter truth is most of them are not even on Nairaland. |

Congrats to Fayemi. I hope he brings the much needed change and stability to the long suffering people of that state who have been subjected to socio-political trauma in the hands of the ruling PDP who had clearly failed to deliver the dividends of democracy. And I hope it marks the end of Fayose's political career. Such people are not needed in the political space. |

africanusvu: It shows Igbos are great , they always have influence in western election, it started from Lagos politics, just concluded election in Ekiti, two former governors of Anambra Ngige and Obi played roles in both parties APC and PDP, same thing happened in Ondo state election Obi for PDP, Rochas for APC. |

Before you quote me, rethink. I'm neither a PDP or APC apologist. I live and work in Ado-Ekiti in one of the Federal Agencies. The election was free and fair in counting starting from pooling units in my area down to numerous next. BUT the fact still remains that an unpopular party will always be no matter what, believe me or not , 80 percent of APC votes in my area was bought by them. They coerceed the voters with cash, 5k, 7k ..depends on your bargaining power and you have to show the apc agents before you get paid. They had a field day without hindrance from any security agents. Most police vans were seen carrying APC agents with cash for proper and even distribution. In lieu of this all....Take a look at the margin, less than 20k votes which in MY opinion doesn't mean that the winner is popular and acceptable due to the fact that some voters somewhere amounting to that MAY wish to vote for PDP but got denied due to one logistics or other but Ekiti people have spoken and their voice need to be heard. One thing that I note is that the era of stuffing ballot boxes is over but NEVER can we overcome votes buying and selling because they will always bring policies that we make us dance to their tune. Once again, I repeat , the votes were counted not just written as some might perceived. |
