My Visa was approved on thursday july 12 at Abuja embassy. I got there 8am and was interviewed around 11.30am.
I'm a medical doctor working with a popular Governmental security agency. I wore my wedding ring for the first time in almost 2 years

VO: welcome to the United States of America.
Me: thank you sir. Good morning sir.
VO: Good morning.
VO: pass me your passport and I-20
Me: I did
VO: do you have any passport which you've used to travel.
Me: no
VO: you are going to East Tennessee State University
Me: yes sir.
VO: what are you going there to do
Me: I'm going there to obtain a master's degree in public health
VO: You are a medical doctor
Me: yes sir
VO: You work with the Nigeria bleep bleep.
Me: yes sir. I just smiled cos I know say matter don finish.
VO: who is paying for your studies
Me: my uncle and I have some personal savings.
VO: what does your uncle do
Me: he is a businessman. He imports cars and electronics.
VO: do you have proof that he is going to sponsor you.
Me: yes sir and I gave him my uncle's SOA. I also have my SOA with me.(but he wasn't interested in my SOA.)
VO: this funds will be okay for the first year who will pay for the second year
Me: my uncle
VO: where did you obtain your medical degree.
Me: bleep
VO: who paid for your medical degree.
Me: my parents. As a sharp guy I quickly added uncle.
VO: I'm going to confirm this SOA you will receive a 10 years ban if it's fake.( he said it on 3 occasions)
Me: no problem. It's genuine.
VO: he gave me a white paper and 2 small slips and told me to enjoy my stay at ETSU.
Me: and I said thanks.

Wishing those yet to have their interview a positive outcome. Try to have a decent profile and package everything very well. Please don't go there with an SOA less than your estimated cost of attendance. A guy interviewed before went with an SOA of 3m. The white woman at window 6 did the mathematics for him and gave him a denial.

My status still shows passport is still with the US embassy but I'm sure that God has done this one.
Once again thanks to everyone that has contributed positively on this thread.

Thanks

I'm sorry but this is absolute nonsense. Why post your transcript when you know you have personal stuffs which you deem not necessary for others. Is it by force to post your interview transcript? If everyone stated "told him" as their responses, do you think this thread would still be active till date. Now, tell me who your cryptic transcript helped. Nonsense

In my opinion, they are tired of hearing extensive research for answers to how to u heard about the school. Try and say something unique. Also, I think u should reapply. Yes, u will have to fill another DS 160 and pay another fee.
was the interview in Lagos or Abuja?
Thank you for your response.
Can I still answer sth different in my next interview? Can I change sponsor? And in my own thinking, I thought it's becos I am not married or engaged or do you think it has nothing to do with the denial?
Thanks once more.

Hello Guys I hope you all are having a good day.

Pls I would be going for my visa interview soon for my Masters in Information Systems and Technology at University of Michigan Dearborn(UMD) and honestly the major reason I applied to UMD is because of the opportunity to interact and experience what goes on in the FORD MOTOR COMPANY(excites me when I imagine it) as I currently work as a ford service advisor with coscharis motors but I really do not know if its a convincing reason.

I also found that UMD has relatively small class sizes which sounds good to me as I would get the opportunity to interact with my professors and peers easily especially in terms of solving problems and sharing ideas.

pls go through and let me know what you think.

Good evening all,

I am new here and would really love guidance .

I concluded my US visa interview on the 11th of July. I was denied the visa. I got admitted into West Texas A & M university, Texas for Masters in Business Administration for fall 2018. The purpose of my travel is to upgrade my profile and to get practical business knowledge to return home and manage the plantation my family is setting up as a retirement planning for my parents.

I had travelled to Dubai in December 2013 with family in my final year. I have not been able to travel after then because nysc and the jobs i took afterwards.

On refusing me the visa, the consular officer said, 'no enough proof of ties to home country' .

I intend applying again but i don't know how to resolve this ties to home country thing.

some agents advised that i defer the admission and travel to 2 countries minimum , restructure my profile before applying.

will this aid in resolving the issue?? please advise. ...

Travel history is different from home ties. If you decides to travel, you must have good reasons why you did so. If they perceived that the travel is needless and only a means to coy them that you have travelled to other countries particularly as this is coming after denial; the VOs are intelligent. We have seen people without travel history granted Visa. Home ties varies from country to country, home ties could be a good job back home, personal properties at home, all your family residing in your home country, your wife and children, being engaged etc. So travelling might not solve the problem. You can also boost your profile applying to Tier I institutions, write standardised exam and secure funding which make them not look much into you not having home ties. This is just an opinion, I could be wrong.

Hello everyone!
Could you please vet my proposed transcript.

Help me please!

Why are u going to the US?
I am going to the US for my PhD degree in chemical engineering at the UKansas

Why are you changing course and school?
It is not as if I am changing a course, biopharmaceutical is classified under biochemical engineering which is an area of specialisation in the field of chemical engineering, I will still have to specialise in biopharmaceutical/biochemical and as for the school I decided to go for a more reputable school in terms of ranking and research

How many school did u apply?

I applied to six schools: UKansas, UNH, UAH, UArkansas, UTK, LSU

How many Admit?

Three admits
Why UK?
out of all the admits, Ukansas happens to be the most reputable in research and chemical engineering ranking. Also, they offer concentration in my area of interest.

What is your study Plan?
I will have to complete 30 hours of credit course work at the graduate level and 24 hours of credit in research dissertation. Usually in the first year, it is expected of me to have a CGPA of above 3.0 after which a general examination in the second year must passed. The exam involves a written plan of a novel and unique doctoral research followed by an oral defence of such proposal
Do you have area of interest?

My area of interest is biochemical/biopharmaceutical research. Most importantly improving biological based drugs such as proteins, monoclonal antibody, vaccines, insulin and next generational biologics such as engineered tissue and stem cells.

Do you have a proposed supervisor?

Not at all but I have 3 proposed supervisors that specialists in my area of interest, Prof mike, Adams and Kung

How do you intend sponsoring your education?

My uncle will be sponsoring my education
Note: I have a Letter head from him saying he will be a sponsor, my only fear is that the amounts are UK account having 60000 pounds and US account worth 40000 dollars but no flow per say, they are savings. The money have been there for a while. Is it a crime to use savings instead of Current account. Also he printed the statements online. He said he will have to be there in the US to get the one directly from Bank. The problem is that he will not be travelling to the US until late november. Will the VO understands?

What does he do?

He is a retired NNPC director that is now into farming, he has choice properties in the UK and US that also bring him income

Why are you not funded?

I contacted the graduate coordinator on this and he said TA positions are filled by domestic student but that for international students I would get RA when I arrive on campus. He said Professors will give presentations of their current research work at the start of the program, and that students will be assigned according to their area of interest and RA will be awarded.

What will this degree do for you?
With the PhD degree, opportunities are endless, I have always had the short term and long term plans. I planned to work in the industry for sometime to acquire that hand-on engineering experience before finally settling for a lecturing position which will make me a better engineering lecturer.

hopefully it goes well.......... phd is no joke so with a bit of prayers you are good to go

Explain same way you explained here and hopefully there won't be any problem. Also be ready for why your uncle is sponsoring you and try to emphasize that you will come back to Nigeria to work in the industry/take up a lecturing job
