Umm, it's been long I read the book but I remember the rape happened before she started sleeping with Segun. When the man was going to drop her after the ugly incident he said something in the line of Bolanle now being a woman and that she should be thanking him.


Edit: she was also devastated that something she'd been saving for her future husband had been stolen from her.

Basically its about deconstucting gender roles, and equality, so yes its about feminism. Interesting piece i tell you.

Its a book i wish i could send to every woman who is raising a daughter in nigeria today. So she wont take alot of the crap our mothers and foremothers took, and also to every woman raising a son because we should all be feminist really.
