Jewel80: Yeah you're good to go. No transit visa needed. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by A555: 10:52pm On Jul 16, 2018 |
Jewel80: I expect your two stops are in Ethiopia and Toronto. In this case you will not need a transit visa. The stopover in Dublin is a technical stop where you don’t even get off the plane while they refuel and change the flight crew. One typically needs a transit Visa if you are exiting the airport to catch a connecting flight at another airport except for the US, which requires you to have a transit visa once you are passing through their airports...even when you don’t exit the airport at all. 4 Likes |

Rebarobyn: Sometime it's okay to admit you don't know what the question is or simply just "jump and pass". And I don't mean that as an insult. As a Postdoctoral fellow myself, I struggled with the question of how to navigate my academic career in Canada and was on the verge of ditching academia. However, I have made tremendous progress over the last six months and I will share some tips and advice at the appropriate time as I am very busy at the moment. I just don't want you discouraging people, that's what compelled me to post this snippet. @iamforcanada, dudade, and other prospective researchers in the house. I'd be sure to mention you when I get around to posting a detailed response. Cheers and good luck to everyone. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Hello @Vcole, Can you shed more light on how you were able to manage to take care of your baby whilst schooling as well as working. I am going to land in Calgary in a few weeks with my baby (about 6 months) and I am exploring / researching seriously about childcare options for me as I intend to look for work or school full time. From my research, a lot of people prefers daycare to dayhomes and I have seen some bad news on the internet about this. what is your take on it? what are the regulations surrounding approved dayhomes? are they better? vcole: 5 Likes |

My husband booked his return ticket to US some weeks ago and had no issues at all. They are genuine and have very cheap rates. Saintp: |

All caught up on the thread Big thanks to all those who regularly answer questions and post inspiring pictures, you guys are the real mvps Almost all my questions have been answered, in fact if I had been a little bit patient I wouldn't have needed to make the post about landing close to delivery because I later saw posts from other people. Big thanks to you all. Now let me go and submit these passports and get copr 4 Likes |

Akingsqueen: I actually typed a long post yesterday but mistakenly touched adverts and lost the whole write up. I'll try to do the write up again as soon as possible. Yes we've gotten a two bedroom apartment and moved in Sunday. I'll give the details of this later. You can send me a mail. 3 Likes 1 Share |

maternal: Thanks maternal i had gone to the beginning of the thread again to start penning names of ottawa people. Okay i booked airbnb already for 2 weeks but i need to get accommodation before the end of the period(preferably a house because i have 3 super active kids), but i did not get any response to any house i showed interest in on Kijiji 1 How else can i go about this accommodation (just to book viewing sef) 2 Please can we start ottawa whatsapp group please (instant response to critical question can be pof saving) 3 I keep hearing no area is too far in ottawa , please how is living in the sub hurb and finding job within. 4 How do we do people socialize (side story : i contacted RCCG overcomers chapel on instagram, lets just say maybe they will respond when i get there) |

gemdor:1) What is your budget, type of accomodation you want and when do you plan to land? I can do the search for you on Kijiji and organize for you to view when you land. 3) This is sort of true and not true (It takes me about two hours by bus to get to work, but if I drive, its 28 mins). It also depends on your direction of work. If you work down town, you would most likely meet traffic is you drive and parking can be an issue sometimes. 4) I have tried to organize meet ups here but non responded. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
