What kind of ridiculous name is Nigeria Air? No creativity there whatsoever.

If they could not come up with appealing names in the level of Emirates, Etiad, Qantas etc, then they should have stuck to Nigerian Airways.

Look at Enemies of Progress above, asking foolish questions. Someone is trying to bring back Nigerian airways that went liquidated under PDP.
Great job Mr. President and Hadi Sirika.

ok... I'll admit, the logo is snazzy... stylized eagle on a ribbon banner with the flag.

That must have cost the Nigerian taxpayer $10-$20 million

Now comes the hard part: will they pay pilots, air staff, ground staff, technicians, landing fees, maintenance fees, etc to keep this going?

This is the moment Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika unveiled the new national airline at the Farnborough International Airshow in London.

“The Nigerian Government will not own more than 5% (maximum) of the new National Carrier. The government will not be involved in running it or deciding who runs it,” he said

He added that government is in talks with aircraft providers, “We’ve been talking to Airbus and Boeing (and they’re present at this event) regarding the aircraft for and we will be making announcements very soon. We are currently negotiating.”

Re: Nigeria Air: National Airline Unveiled (Photos, Video) by DrMuzungu(m): 8:18pm On Jul 18, 2018
For any airline to be allowed to fly, it needs AOC (Airline OPerator Certificate), issued by the national authority. To get that certificate, the airline needs to prepare a huge amount of documentation (for a small local airline it would be not less than 1000 pages of detailed procedures, definitions, descriptions etc. A team of 5 to 10 people would need not less than 3 months of hard work to make it. And that is only the first step. Then, the market research, feasibility studies covering local routes. Then we come to international flights. For each route to a foreign destination, the airline would have to prepare another set of documentation, and negotiate with that country's authorities. Then we come to the requirements for aircrafts. If you fly short local routes, aircrafts like B737 (any version), A320 and CRJ700 are perfect. However, for longer routes (to/from Europe) you need larger aircrafts, such would be B757, B767 or A330/340. Finally, for the longest routes (East Asia, America, etc) you would need at least B747 or A330/340, since you probably can't afford A380. Add to it extremely high requirements to fly to USA and Canada which African airlines can hardly meet...

In short, just saying "We want a national airline" is only the first out of million steps required, and at this point there is nothing yet to be unvelied.
