Seems like Sokoto has more than enough limestones. We now have at least two major cement producers in d state, Sokoto cement and BUA cement

We hope this new plant will help with job creation and help to make cement prices more competitive.

Osinbajo is asking for reduced cement price an act showing that he is intelligent and which GEJ did throughout his tenure. GEJ lowered cement price to N1,400 per bag. It is one thing to be a leader It is another to feel the pains of those you are leading.

Cement price is not government regulated. Osinbajo cannot do anything to lower Cement price neither did GEJ do anything to lower Cement price. We want lower prices, we either boost production and distribution capabilities - have more producers, be a net exporter, have cost reduction in the value chain of cement production - Power & logistics for starters etc

At the rate at which infrastructural development will go on in Nigeria for the next 25yrs+, Cement prices will not come down IMO. We probably need about 3 additional large scale producers to achieve affordable pricing.

No, it is just a threat but it will make them sit up. Cement companies in Nigeria are operating at super normal profit at the detriment of the market.

It's pathetic that a lot of Nigerians are leaving for Canada and elsewhere. Until we all bond together to build this country for ourselves, it will be left crawling. The Canada they are running to was built by her citizens. We much build ours from scratch!

This is an economy that must be built from the scratch, be self-sustainable, diverse (non dependent on crude oil), and highly productive. In as much as we love to hate this government but we must see what is happening in Nigeria's economy as "birth pangs". With all this drive especially in refining our own crude oil, improvement in the agricultural and manufacturing sector, it would only be a matter of time before we experience real progress in this country.

Trust me......It's not that simple. If you look at the landing cost it's probably same of same. Even if relatively lower...demand for Cement far outweighs supply currently, so it's still the seller's market

it is a good thing that the government has commission of a new cement plant which on full utilization will provide at least 2,000 direct and 10,000 indirect job opportunities, I also appreciate the fact that the vice president has called on BUA Group to collaborate with other major cement manufacturers and reduction in cement price to drive infrastructure development in the country. This is actually a big step for the cement industry and the nation’s economy.

This will make provision for export.... create more jobs for the unemployed and investors will be encouraged to do business in Nigeria.
