Ok. Kano is cool. Lucky you to be coming when there is rain unlike us that experienced total dry hot sun. You will like it here especially if you are posted to the city.

The feeding wasnt that bad either but i doubt if you will be able to eat their own version of tuwo. On a scale of 1-10, i give it 5.

We had bread, boiled egg, white rice, beans , pap, jollof rice, chicken, beef, tea, eba,......... It wasnt that bad at all.

now that all schools are on vacation, if one is posted to a school as ppa, what is that person be doing pending the resumption of schools?

Most PPA doesnt pay, thatz just the plain truth except few public and private. And sometimes acomodation is provided by the school but certainly not guaranteed.


Now that schools are on Vac, you will be flexing na ... I mean if you dont wana travel, you hang around and explore the city. More so, you have to do thumb printing for clearance every month which means you cant just travel for donkey years just like that but you may use the break period to travel and get yourself sorted.


Well like i said, i stay in town (Tarauni GRA) not the village and i can tell you very loud and clear that rent here is no joke. Its quite on the high side but very modest when compared to a lagos rate for similar facilities.

Cost of living in the town is averagely ok for a corp member but i guess you'd enjoy more if you have money.

The road network here deserves accolades i swearugad

You're better off serving in other region of the country than in the North. North is the worse region to do Nysc.

Two sides of a coin.

The funniest part was that i was told worse stuff about this place.

Dont get me wrong, Kano is not paradise.

But a one-off opinion shouldn't count for all.

Northern states generally are susceptible to ethnic/religious crisis, and even more recently, herdsmen invasion has been added to the list. BUT...

Kano has been relatively peaceful for a while now. At least nothing really to tag a total breakdown of order or mass casualties arising from the usual suspects.

And its not like other states ain't having their fallbacks too.

Just be open minded. Just because you experience an unfortunate incidence in one part of the state at one point or the other while you were serving doesn't mean it will stay that way.

My friend stop this your prejudiced thinking.Which local government did you served in Kano?
I'm an ex corper,who served in Kano precisely at ministry of works and housing. I lived at France road,Sabon Gari.Life is generally easy.Even some posted to the hinterland enjoyed their service year,so there.So why are you confusing people.Simply say,you didn't enjoyed your service year,cos of the high standard you set for yourself

Who is giving you guys all this wrong information? A lot of social integration is permissible there.But not with an Hausa girl.

If you're from the SOUTH and you got posted to KANO, congratulations! You have been scammed. You're going to undergo several brainwashing in camp to convince you not to relocate but please Run.


But, If you refusedyou're going to regret it. At least I have done my part. You're better off serving in any other region of the country than North.


Why should you run from Kano?? State don't pay a dime. Most PPAs don't pay a kobo. There's zero social activities. Because of shortage of teachers in the rural areas you're most likely to be posted there.



The weather is unbelievably Harsh ( you no go fresh, I promise you). There's no good water both drinking and bathing in most LGA if not all. Foodstuffs are not cheap, indomie and mudu's of rice, beans and garri still sells same price as in most States in Nigeria. If you're posted to the village, you're finished. The villages are highly under policed, there no enough presence of security agents unlike what we have in the South.
Alcohol is forbidden. Language barrier, different styles of living compared to what you're use to.

Don't listen to agents of deceit here, you will have a wonderful NYSC experience if you serve even in the worse state in West or South than any core Northern States.


I won't gain anything by typing all these just to deceive you or lie. I also advise other people from other Northern States and Western States to look for any other states to serve if they want to have a wonderful and memorable Nysc experience. Core northern are the least when it comes to having a wonderful NYSC experience but scammers and people who feed on deceit won't tell you the truth.


Since they're bent on deceiving people so shall their children and children's children be deceived.

you want to compare social life of one in lagos,ph,enugu with that of some one in kano, I have not even talk about the language barrier, as a good proportion can't even communicate with English. don't get me wrong, the state is beautiful with good road network and what have you but the people are too backwards with there reasoning and mainly fanatics
