Senator Ademola Adeleke has been declared the winner of the Osun Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primary, ahead of the Sept. 22 election in the state.

In the primary which held today, he polled 7 more votes than his closest rival Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi

Adeleke, who became senator after winning a by-election occasioned by the death of his brother in April 2017, won Saturday’s primary by polling 1, 569 votes.

His closest challenger, Akin Ogunbiyi, polled a total of 1,562 votes, meaning Adeleke won the primary by the slim margin of seven votes.

Fatai Akingbade placed third with 52 votes, while Nathaniel Oke made up the rear with three votes.

The primary election held at the GMT Hotel and Event Centre along Ring Road in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Seriake Dickson, Governor Bayelsa State, who chaired the committee overseeing the electoral process, announced the results.

Adeleke would now go head-to-head with Gboyega Oyetola, who emerged candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.

Congrats to him but Akin Ogunbiyi would have been a better and more qualified candidate. Hope Ogunbiyi won't decide to decamp if truly the difference between their results was that close.

APC should just roll out drums tomorrow... Now I know PDP is not a serious party.

Chill Guy hope it's not because he from your hometown U're clamouring for him lol,buh everyone has always got a plan until they get there,Yes he's rich,wrestling Osun from the claws of APC at all costs, they must not have a say,they have so much impoverished the state,hoarding wealth at all costs,keeping debt even for future generations to swim in,Akin Ogunbiyi is rich buh we all know the adeleke family,Although it's not about wealth we're talking about,even local business,SMEs are not moving,everything just stalled,Wait and listen to Adeleke's plan to, u'll appreciate one or two things.APC is kinda cursed,check the trend of things everywhere even at the federal level,why is everything falling apart in their own time.

If the result is that close, then it suggests that support for Adeleke candidacy must be relatively thin, even in his own senatorial zone.
