Been wondering the same thing too o, there was this day I followed a friend to a Catholic church, they were doing adoration.
The pastor started speaking in tongues and people were falling, everyone closed their eyes, na so me open my eye dey watch pastor perform miracle. He took notice and laid his eyes on me turned me round for more than ten times,I no gree fall. I just had to pretend , cos I was feeling dizzy from the turning.

Truth is this,some falling are
1.Purely psychological
2.Fake(acting)
3.Spiritual ( JAZZ,After pastor has gone to meet fetish people to mix concussion)
Conclusion
No falling is real,its either its acting,or mentally subdued to falling or pastor is using JAZZ.
All these apply to speaking in tongues too.
Africans are fools,they are going to be like this underdeveloped, unstructured and poor until they start thinking outta the box.
It will be surprising on Judgement day that when white people will be entering paradise, they will abound in hell with all their fallings and tongue speaking.

I used to be like that until a few months ago when I was speaking in tongues in church while a spirit filled worship song was going on. I felt like I was floating and the power in me was so much that I ended up on the floor. It's hard to explain unless you experience it yourself and it's also easy to think people who fall are faking it but after being there myself, I can confirm it's real.

Not doubting your experience...in fact I believe you 100% it was spiritual.... but what spirit? ... that happens all the time to people possessed by evil spirits.

Try this experiment....stay all alone without food, lock yourself in a room and believe with all your heart that anointing will fall on you. Then begin to shake rigorously shouting the name of Sango Sango! Sango fall on me!!!

After a while, you will see yourselve shivering and rolling on the floor.

Try this same experiment replacing the name Sango with Jesus, Abassi, Amadioha etc... Holding the same strong believe and emotion that it will work, results will be same.

Seriously, God Almighty really exist. Even more real than we can imagine. I have fallen under anointing several times. I couldn't just help it, even after forming James Bond. The kind of joy I felt within me while under anointing is second to none. Praying in tongues uncontrollably.

I shake head whenever I see anyone saying rubbish about God or men of God. Obviously, they have never experienced the reality of His presence. If not, they should know that life is far deeper than just physical world with science and technology

The anointing is a real as you, what you have to do is, have faith in the word, let the word of God absorb your being... Make the word you, the anointing is not from the pastor, the pastor gives the word of healing or prosperity, and is a matter of you to activate it by looking from within( the Holy Spirit) in you
And another thing, when the anointing is upon you, you are either praising him for something he has done, or asking for more strength towards that challenge(especially if your still a baby in Christ), and the anointing would surely take over... There is nothing like pretence to the anointing, your not doing it for people, it's God taking over you.
