My response:

Anyone who knows anything, in fact as much as 5% about Ogun State politics should know that PDP has just made a big mistake by expelling Buruji Kashamu!

Yes, his source of huge wealth might be dodgy; he owns Best Western Hotel in Victoria Island (opposite Eko Atlantic/Old Bar Beach) and Hotel de Island in the same V/I (opposite Providus Bank headquarters), but nowhere in the world is politics meant for saints; not even in the US! There is a reason politics is termed “a game of numbers”.

Kashamu is the greatest individual spender in Ogun State politics. The guy must have given away more than 200 cars and 100 buses since he joined politics in 2014 or thereabout! I am not exaggerating; let Ijebu people on this platform (not Ijebus in Diaspora o, lol) speak up.

Kashamu practically owns Ogun East senatorial district, covering the entire stretch of Ijebu and Remo.

Even with the Buhari tsunami of 2015 and Amosun’s ‘Midas touch’ as a sitting Governor, Kashamu defeated APC hands-down and won the senatorial election.

His huge, deep pockets meant that PDP has lost a very huge opportunity to bounce back in Ogun.

This was the same template that won Governor Ajimobi of Oyo State his second term in 2015 (the first Governor to win two terms in the entire history of Oyo State!)- because Ladoja, Akala, and others divided votes when they both defected to Accord and Labour respectively. In fact, when their votes were added, PDP would have won the Governor seat in Oyo in 2015 because their combined votes were far higher than the votes Ajimobi got.

I have read so many ignorant comments regarding this huge mistake by PDP. All politics is local- the dynamics of FG politics is far different from states o!

Forget Kashamu’s heavy moral baggage regarding his source of wealth, by this fatal error, PDP is dead in Ogun State!!!

I work and live in Sagamu which falls in Ogun east senatorial district.

Contrary to general opinion , if you understands Ogun state politics you will know Buruji is not 100%loved by all ,especially the elites because of his shady past, but this man who built his political career on large scale poverty alleviation and he won the 2015 senatorial courtesy the positive effects of his OMO-ILU foundation on the masses coupled with his collaboration with Ladi Adebutu (house of reps member representing Demo federal constituency and the popular Baba Ijebu's son).
While buruji had the Ijebu axis on lock down ,via his OMO-ILU foundation ,Ladi Adebuti conquered the whole Remo Federal constituency with his rural electrification campaign project( the guy bought and installed transformers in several villages with no prior access to electricity ).

He's a crowd mover and he has a very large crowd who have sworn allegiance to him ,so him been expelled from the PDP is a big blow.

Now let's talk about why he was actually expelled ,
Again contrary to people's opinion buruji wasn't expelled because of his commentens on PDP's loss in Ekiti state .

He was kicked out because he has been controlling a renegade faction of PDP in Ogun state for a while ,
and just recently the former governor of the state Otunba Gbenga Daniel reconciled wit him and that automatically swelled his massive crowd of followers,hence there was need for PDP at the national level to react.

How did he come about a renegade faction ?

Remember the Sheriff vs Makarfi brouhaha?

We all remember buruji was sheriff's number one supporter and was very vocal on his opposition to Governor Fayose and Wike who were Makarfi's backers .

So while the fracas was on, the party was divided into two factions by makarfi's and sheriff's loyalist.
Buruji controlled the sheriff's faction, while honorable Ladi Adebutu (Baba Ijebu's son) who is the house of reps member representing Remo federal constituency controlled the makarfi's faction.

After the court declared makarfi as the winner all of sheriff's faction ,all leaders and members across the
nation gave up their rebellion and decided to accept the decision in good faith but that didn't happen in Ogun state . because the battle for the Leadership of the party structure in the state was so fierce between Ladi and Buruji and its almost impossible for either of them to concede defeat cos this might equally affect their 2019 ambition.

So Buruji and his group got a court injunction that says they are the authentic leaders of the party in the state.

Subsequently the National party chairman
Uche Secondus released a press release saying he doesnt recognize Buruji's factional excos in the state ,but still They continued with their faction insisting on been the authentic leaders of the party in the state.

So ever since then there have been two different factions with separate Secretariats of PDP across all wards and local govt in the state .
they have different excos they have separate members and separate aspirants competing for the same positions using the same party logo and name PDP.

They hold meetings on separate dates and they have been having separates rallies and both claim to be the authentic PDP.

And also it is important you all know that both Buruji and Ladi Adebutu are governorship aspirants in the state under their respective factional PDP umbrellas.

So if this is either a blessing for Buruji ,or ladi's faction of PDp or APC or even ADC only time will tell .

And where was he before he joined PDP or where was the party before he joined them. All na politics

VERY SOON PDP SHALL BE A THING OF THE PAST

People that are familiar or on ground in Ijebu lands know the popularity of Kasumu.

He single handedly make most of the PDP state house of the assembly candidates to have won.

He also gave his opponent ( Dapo Abiodun a close pal of Gov. Amosu a run for their money )

I saw his campaign train twince with chains of assorted armoured vehicles and specially trained eagle eyes security, boy oh boy you will think it was Donald Trump convoy.


And the way he was throwing money non stop to people, you will fear God.

Honestly I will keeping on saying it that there is no different between PDP and APC.

I pray either of them don't win any election

Go and figure how many votes he garner for PDP in Ogun East in 2015...go and checkout how many people were elected thru him into d State House of Assembly... He may not command d followership or financial muscle he used to pre-2015, but he's gonna be a big big loss for PDP.

He's just going to play d spoiler game and it's gonna hurt PDP real bad...let's talk again after 2019 elections.
