Sell your stocks and repurchase by March-April next year. Period. Don't hold onto things that are declining. The fears about the election are going to be overblown. Good stocks will decline. Sell now and buy just before elections. The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent. The FPIs are gradually unwinding their positions. They have to do so gradually of course because of their big holdings. Very soon the you'll see the impact of their actions on the exchange rate. Don't be a bagholder. Don't hold the bag for them. Instead strive to be a carpet bagger. For those that'll survive the upcoming carnage with their liver and capital, elections will be peacefuĺ....Naira will be devalued ( free float), fuel subsidy will be removed...All these will point to a 2019/2020 bull. 1 Like |

Contemporarily speaking, the term carpetbagger refers to roving financial opportunists, often of modest means, who spot investment opportunities and aim to benefit from a set of circumstances to which they are not ordinarily entitled. |

currentprice: Given the time we discussed NEM, and what has happened to the Naira between then and now, I am glad I dumped all Naira stocks and carried my kaya abroad. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by bigjay01(m): 7:30am On Jul 24, 2018 |
nosa2: This definitely does not apply to NEM. We discussed it when NEM was about 60k, today it is about N3. This is a 400% increase. Naira has not depreciated 400%! How many stocks in those climes have done 5 baggers? #GladIHeld |

bigjay01: That is true. But very rarely will u have 100% of your portfolio in NEM back In those days. Whereas you can easily move 100% of your money to $$. On a portfolio to portfolio comparison, the person that bought $$ may be better off. MAY BE. |

Sir, do you think NEM is really a N3 stock. I think what has happened to NEM is just that new retail investors wanted to key into the Insurance sector and found NEM more accommodating as Custodian has gone beyond their reach. If I hold the stock, I will sell because I do not see it doing another 30/50% in the near term. bigjay01: 1 Like |

MSCI- NIGERIA MOVEMENT FOR 23 JULY 2018/GENERAL COMMENT “Thisday newspaper” talk something about Foreign Portfolio Investment. Therefore, today some Investors who rely on news will further depress the market (this may however mean that the final bottom we are looking for is not that far as the news sellers will drive some stock to unbelievably lower prices, keep your money for the coming Black 2018 promotional offers). Continuing with our own follow up the Fund fired on full salvo yesterday 23 July 2018, selling like no man business. This is telling the reasonable investors to stay out of the market for now, some equities are likely to fall further. I am sorry to say this in view of the pain that people are suffering, but this is the reality on ground. If you will buy at all, bid at the lowest limit price possible!!! I tried to go back to 22 July 2014 to see for myself if I continue to do buy and hold, the conclusion is left for us to decide individually. Equity 23 July 2018 23 July 2014 Julius Berger 24.30 63.00 Conoil 27.00 62.32 Caverton 1.90 6.85 Using the fund’s portfolio as a guide, “green” mean buying while “red” is selling. I have been wondering how one can benefit or escape from the dangerous drawdown that usually follow the bear market. It seems the best way is just to go to cash/money market instrument. Looking for any defensive stock that will withstand the bear pressure still carry a lot of risk. We continue to explore how to do better in the market over the long term. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. N:B Due to the fact so many new people are coming to this forum and may not know this use of following the “big monies that move markets”, I will be indicating why/how to use the information. This will be a permanent future of my post to reduce some comments which may
