Nigerian journalists know that this kind of thing happens but none have done sting operations like this to catch coaches in the act. It takes a Ghanaian BBC journalist to expose Salisu.

If ability, talent and integrity are used to select players especially from the youth ranks, you will produce more quality players generally.

it's not new to Nigerian journalists, infact the influential ones among them collect, like I said earlier virtually all Nigerian coaches do it. won't be surprised if he walks free

Fellow Eaglelians.. following our exploit at the world cup it was clear that the left back role is one of d weakest link in the team due to the lack of left footed left backs in the team (bar Echijele). Now that a lot of us are rooting for Rohr to make the team stronger ahead of the AFCON qualifier, it won't be wise to continue using non left footers like Aina,Ebuehi and Idowu in the role.. Pa Echijele is a no go too...

Any suggestion as to who should take the role ?? in fact any suggestion on how our full back setting should be??

CC: Tbaba1234 icon4s kog45 forgiveness chriskel komekn and other honorable members of the thread

1) Firstly, I think it is time to move on without Echiejile.

2) For now, we resume in that position with Idowu and Aina. Idowu in particular was tested by the best of oppositions. I would not say he did excellently well but I would say he was not bad. Seychelles, Libya and SA cannot attack us the way Croatia, Iceland and Argentina did. I know Idowu and Aina have what it takes to hold their own and integrate more with the team.

3) In the modern game players' versatility is key. If you do not have natural left footed players that are up to the mark you have to convert other players with such abilities to play such position. You cannot compromise standards all in the name of looking for a natural left footed player.

4) Going forward, any outstanding left footed player(s) that is/are identified can gradually be introduced into the team. We should not be in a haste to throw out those we have in the position at present. Any incoming Natural Left back should prove to be better (in terms of delivery) than those make-shift Left Backs we have at the moment.

5) Yes the World Cup is over but I still re-iterate that team building is a gradual process. I see people throwing names and different names. Yes that is ok. It means we have so many availanble options but their introduction would be such that it does not terminate the progress of the team and or throw the team off balance.

The team can only get better.

I think that it will be difficult to sweep under the carpet because it is all over BBC Africa. It is going to be a major scandal. I won't be surprised if Gernot Rohr requests a replacement.

Nigerian journalists know more about these things and can expose more coaches but everyone keeps quiet. How did we get so corrupt as a country?

one of them tried something like this sometime ago and he was nearly killed.

Nigeria is not the kind of country any sane person should risk their lives for. So, as much as we want to ask why Nigerian journalists can't do such things, let us remember that they are people's fathers and husbands first before they are journalists and 90% of the people ready to castigate them here would definitely not risk their lives for Nigeria.

The question is, if your life was on the line, would you do such investigative reporting?

Why SALISU YUSUF? See What you have done to yourself.

I hope the NFF do the needful. We don't need this man Going forward. I am always of the opinion that he does not have what it takes to handle the SEs. His performance as a caretaker coach after Oliseh left was not the true reflection of his personality and ability.

That Athletico Madrid list..
The Athletico game was supposed to be solely for NpFL players. The game was as a result of the LMC- LA Liga partnership. Nigeria bent the rules to include a few foreign players.
I had to clear this, because I know were you're going.

Agreed but if we decided to choose fringe players then there were several better options who had good seasons.

they released the video already, he was caught on camera collecting bribe of 1k dollars to select 2 players for the Chan tourney, tho he claimed he was only given 750 and that he didn't do any wrong. let's see what the NFF will do about it

Na who then catch be thief. Manu Garba and so many other coaches are known to collect handouts. I don't know why Manu Garba's case was closed and he wasn't shamed out of his post. Instead he got another gig with the U17's.
I have a feeling if he was from another part of the country, that scandal would have been the end of him.
Amunike have also been involved in shoddy deals, where it was alleged he made prospective U17 players sign contract with his academy before they made his team.
Football is a reflection of who we are and what we are as a country.
Even in the NPFL, players share their salaries with team managers and coaches before they are signed while CEO's inflate contracts to collect markups from state government.
We must find ways to live and achieve results with our fraud.
Fraud has been institutionalized in the country and there's absolutely nothing anyone can do about it.
Take it or leave it.

Even Ghana's president fear him because he is a master in disguising himself. Today he is a man tomorrow he is a girl.

Corruption has eaten so deep into the system. People claim to be religious but commit terrible acts of corruption. It is not just the political leadership, it goes down to the lowest strata in society. In fact, the person who tries to do the right thing is seen as an enemy of progress.

People will then go to their places of worship to do thanksgiving for stolen wealth.

Seems SiMoses move to Liverpool is imminent

I doubt it.. Simon was never a primary target for Klopp.. He was more like a fall back option in case Shaqiri deal fell... Now we have Shaqiri to deputise for Mane and Salah .and with d huge fee spent.on Alisson there are strong indications that Liverpool are not buying anymore players this window .and if they do, its gonna be an attacking midfielder

Nigerian winger Sheyi Ojo might depart Liverpool before the close of the summer transfer window, according to reports in the British media.

Reds manager Jürgen Klopp has done some incoming transfer business in the ongoing window, signing four players Alisson, Naby Keïta, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri, and it is envisaged that he will sanction a loan move for Ojo so that he can continue his development instead of playing for the U23s or rotting on the bench.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Middlesbrough, Wolfsburg and Reading have inquired about signing Ojo.

The England U21 star is valued at £15m by the Merseysiders, therefore a loan move is the most likely option.

Liverpool signed Ojo from Milton Keynes Dons in 2011, and had previously loaned him out to Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham in the last three years.

The U20 World Cup-winning winger was in Liverpool's traveling squad to America and came off the bench against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.

I think the only thing religion has done is to curb the animalistic instincts in this country a LITTLE
