abeg one more question before my order

wch is better note 4x or note 5

taking in consideration particularly

performance, battery, miui update

thanks

Na the depth of your pocket go determine the answer.

If you get up to 70k, note 5 all the way!

If you get above 50k, buy something from 2018.

Hello everyone,

So my redmi 5 plus through express shipping from noobody came in today via DHL.

I have been on this thread for few months now, reading, following and saving up for my phone. I remember asking the house for a phone that could be gotten in the range of 50-55k, it was really hard to chose redmi 5 plus over redmi s2 because of the camera and the sd card slot. Having read the various reviews because of the bigger screen and other things,i decided not to go for the redmi S2.

My experience was just okay, from the fact that my phone was on "shipping information received" for a whole week (7days exactly) and some other issues sha, the phone finally arrived after 12days and the fact that i now have the phone with me is my only comfort on the experience i had.

I would have wanted to write a whole lot more, infact i typed them but decided to erase them, smiles.

The phone is actually nice, trying to set it up, abit longer than what i am used to (samsung 4.5inch phone) but i am sure i would get used to it as time goes on.

Kindly welcome me officially to the xiaomi family. Below is the redmi 5 plus, global version, black, 3gb/32gb variant.

Good to be here.

Global version is clearly written on the box of the global version variant.

For the Chinese variant, some sellers might flash global ROM which is what is obtainable in the global version. The difference is in the lte bands as the global version has more bands than the Chinese version.
Ok, thanks

Correct! But is it factory fitted

Also, if I'm ordering for fast shipping through DHL, do I need to ask the seller to use another description on the box to avoid crazy shipping charges?

U need to discuss with the seller based on d type of rom u need for the phone.

Description and value must change, the seller can arrange all that, all u need is tell him or her what u need. Or buy from our sellers here once its available. Cheers man

On Most brands, upgrades on subsequent models are usually incremental. If you want a massive upgrade on a model, you have to skip the subsequent model. Like the Max to Max 3. Same with galaxy phones

The thing is that the upgrade from the Max 2 to the max 3, though incremental is good enough. To list them...

1. Bigger screen in almost the same size
2. Trendy screen aspect ratio

3. Better processor
4. Bigger battery on an already massive battery
5. Better Camera
6. Better design.

What other things were you on the look out for? I was also expecting a pro version with SD 710 and if they throw in an OLED screen, and infra red facial recognition, it would also be fantastic. But this is good enough for an update.

1 and 2 you're repeating same thing

So it is good enough to sell ur max 2 and buy a max 3? If you anticipate an upgrade

On number 4 What ever gain u think was added to the battery is already cancelled out by the larger screen, so u cant add that as a gain max 2 is 5300mah why max 3 is 5500mah

What is d different in design from max 2 and max 3 aside the aspect ratio same build up, same curve same placement of fingerprint , camera just move from vertical to horizontal

Aside the aspect ratio and horizontal camera every other design is same

Question is are u a max2 user?

Yes if you update through OTA . You can avoid the factory reset by downloading the full rom and flashing manually.

Your best bet is to read the changelog before deciding to update or waiting for about 3 weeks while reading feedbacks from those who have updated
Pls I just got the redmi 5 and i am about to update it but I don't understand downloading the full time and flashing thing.
Is it for a rooted phone?

1 and 2 though related are not the same thing. The screen size was increased, virtually the same foot print was maintained and the trendy 18:9 screen ratio was introduced. Those are significant.

Like I said the Max 3 is not really targeted at Max 2 users but at the original Max users and new adopters. Even in countries where phones are bought on contracts, the contracts last two years. So most users skip the immediate next upgrade. No one is telling u to sell your Max 2. You can wait for Max 4.

The battery upgrade is good enough. Wasn't even hoping on it. Were you expecting a 7000mAh battery on a phone? The added juice would show in the stand by time. More so, it has a newer more efficient processor. So even though the endurance rating isn't out, I expect a good upgrade over the Max 2.

I'm not a Max 2 user but I'm just being realistic. Like I said, I was hoping on a SD710 pro version but it didn't come. What we have is good enough and worth the wait.
The question is what were you expecting. An AMOLED screen or SD845 on a mid range device? You have to be realistic.

Your argument has been over flogged and is repeated with any major release of popular phones. No major phone manufacturer does that. Galaxy note 3 users complained that note 4 was not a worthy upgrade, same with note 4 users and note 5 and so on. Same thing occurs with iPhones. The last time someone tried a really massive upgrade was with Galaxy Note 7 and we all know how that went.

In summary, if your Max 2 is still serving you well, hold on to it and wait for the Max 4 because when that is out, some Max 3 users would still complain that its not a worthy upgrade on the Max 3. But if you have the money, you can get the max 3 because the little all round upgrades is sure to give you a more enjoyable device.

Watch YouTube review of the device, for change of device yeah pass mark, i really don't enjoy using a device more than a year, so I'm shooting for a change already, it is a must i must change

Between now till next month I'm making different reviews, but i think GPtech was right about some of his submission

At the end of the day price will surely be the final determinate

No its not. If you are keen on the update, download through OTA and reset afterwards. Backup files to an external drive
