The sim ish is not an issue but a service. It's been sorted out in a post above... And aside that, there's no ish with Xiaomi... At least none that I can't figure it out.

Note 5, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 plus, Redmi s2 all have thesame design. What you should be looking out is the difference in screen to body ratio, if device is plastic or metallic at the back. If you are after notched design, the Redmi 6 pro is there. Question is what do you want?

screen size is = Total glass area - Bezel area

In view of this lay man explanation, you can have a phone with screen size of 5.5 inch and physically bigger than a phone with screen size of 5.99.

If you are concerned about the physical size of the phone you want to buy, request for the dimension information and not screen size.

Have used Oxygen Os, stock Android,MIUI,EMUI and flymeOS and personally I preferred the OxygenOS(closest thing to stock Android and added customisations)followed by stock Android as the experience is smooth and bugs generally are very limited.

That being said I always keep a skinned Android phone as my secondary phone so that I can appreciate both sides of the coin but it has to be stock or something close to it as my daily driver.
