IGBO Leaders of Thought, ILT, an umbrella of Igbo statesmen intelligentsia lead by Professor Ben Nwabueze, has told whoever is planning Presidency for Ndigbo in 2023 that Igbo Presidency is no longer on the cards of the nationality. They rather said that what would be more beneficial to Ndigbo and indeed the entire Nigerians is a restructured country, where Presidency would become less attractive and no longer an instrument for ethnic jingoism. The group also warned that the country is close to being equated with a failed state given the level of insecurity with attendant killings across states. It also spoke on the popular restructuring mantra and warned against escalated nepotism that it described as ‘political corruption.’ ILT made their positions known, Saturday, after two days meeting in Enugu, where the group said the focus of the meeting was anchored on the state of Nation and the National question. Addressing Newsmen after the meeting, Deputy Chairman of ILT, Prof Chiweyete Ejike together with the Secretary General of the group, Prof Elochukwu Amucheazi said that people were becoming poorer by the day and asked for revise of the hopless situations. Ejike said: “Igbo’s are not concerned about Presidency, we are concerned about restructuring. We want a fair and equitable Polity. “There is the issue of use of fund not appropriate by the National Assembly. It is not lawful and we are opposed to that. The selective application of war against corruption is not in order. The Case of Maina is a clear example. “Budgeting public fund for private ranching is corruption and a government that is fighting corruption is doing all these. “On the issue of killings, we feel that enough is not being done to stop the scandalous situation and the government should do more in the interest of the nationalities for existential threat. “There was no legislative reason to prescribe the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB. The federal government should deproscribe it because they have right to Self-determination.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/07/were-not-interested-in-2023-presidency-igbo-leaders/ 2 Likes |

saaron: Really? They are not interested yet they are crying over an alleged marginalization every minute. The only and best chance the ibos have for presidency is immediately after Buhari so they have to cease that opportunity because if PDP comes again it would be another northern candidate for another 8 years after Buhari must have finished his second term. 4 Likes 2 Shares

No matter which tribe produces the president, nothing will work as long as Nigeria continues with this current structure. If you like being a magician to rule, that country will never function properly. I will advise my brothers to leave the presidency for others to continue with. What impact did SS people feel when GEJ was president? What about Obj and the SW? I don’t know about the current jihadist in ASO rock and the NW. 3 Likes 1 Share |

I hope you have 24-hour power supply, good roads, good security, water and good shelter. I also hope you and your children are getting access to quality but affordable education. 8 Likes |

An independent igboland will have a functioning river port at onitsha..a functioning international airport at enugu, 8 viable cities of Asaba, awka, onitsha, enugu, abakilliki, owerri, Aba and umuahia. B4 u know it we would easily have steady power supply from gas, coal and renewable energy. We would have the same gdp with at least lagos state once our people relocate their business. We can continue our trading in other african countries if nigeria becomes hostile. Fvck presidency...support disintegration 6 Likes 1 Share
