Please which c class is fuel economical, is it the c230, c320, c240. I m planning on getting one. And please I also need your take on maintainence.
Which is best to get, the 4matic or the compressor. I intend to buy one within the range of 2005 - 2007

Don't buy '06. Speaking from my colleague's experience ; electrical problems. And if you are buying Nigerian used, have an experienced benz technician scrutinize it thoroughly before you make payments. 4matic is good but have a deep pocket to take care of its suspension. C230 is economical, c240 is powerful and c320 is a beast.

depends on year you are looking at but

230 is 2.3L 4cylinder
240 is 2.4L 4cylinder
320 is 3.2L 6cylinder

not always so though until you tell us what year you are looking at

4matic in benz term is 4wheel drive
Compressor in benz term is turbo charged

to for example a C230 can be 4matic and compressor at the same time

It's the fastest, most powerful and sportier than the crappy c240 and 320
Better still get the c280 which is faster than all the w203s except the AMG variants and the c350
The economy of the c230 is superb, it looks very nice with a sport steering wheel, a 722.9 7 speed steptronic automatic transmission which will require optimum maintenance
There is no 4matic for the c230
The c230 kompressor has a 1.8l supercharged i4 which loses power on the long run
So if you're after just economy, get a c200, trust me
The c230's economy is superb

Umm, what? There's a 06/07 C350 that does 268HP. That's the most powerful non-AMG W203.

They share some engine and suspension parts with the w204
Like the tranny and also the 3.5l v6 of the c350

you're wrong bro. c230 is actually 2.5l v6 M273 facelift model starting from 06-last production of w203.

c230 kompressor is actually 1.8l 4 cylinder with supercharger M271, they're both pre-facelift and facelift models ending in 2005 in w203.

c240 is a 2.6l v6 M112. for this model of benz, they started in 01-05 in w203.

No kompressor comes with a 4matic in normal non performance units.

If he's in for performance, economy and looks, c230 sports or c230 kompressor will give him, if he's in for reliability and practicality, c240 and c230 kompressor will fetch him that.

But why not the '06 model??
I heard its better than earlier versions of W203.
I even heard the electrical systems improved with the 06.

its best to avoid c230 sports v6 the m273 had a myrad of issue when it first came out. the electricals are good but the 7speed transmission had vgs issue, the engine had balance shaft issue and intake manifold runner issues which could damage the engines or transmission. the replacement parts are expensive.

this is un-true. The guys abroad used it for years no issue it came to Nigeria and starts losing power why? maintenance wrong oil spec, leaks from intake or supercharger hose or a limp mode from transmission or engine or abs issue.

Well, obviously. Europe MY is different, AFAIK. For instance, in EUDM, W204 began in 2007.

I drove a Mercedes c class to the east and I was amazed at the economy. I got fuel just once until I got to Onitsha. Even with the ore hold up at that time.
I know some may say amg does come in c class but when I popped the hood I saw amg inscribed on the engine.
Cut long story short, which of the variants gives me power((v6) and economy.

Oh sorry I was using a torch light phone to respond. It didn't show much details on the car. Now I am using my android I can see it better. That's a C230 sports 2.5l V6 M272 engine.
Avoid the car.
