yes sir, i am an electrical and computer engineering graduate with a cgpa of 3.25/4 and 2 years of experience. i am planning on applying for a meng(non thesis masters) in computer science(with specialization in data science ) in canada.
there is always that fear of not being accepted by your favorite school ,thus wanted to know if my score is really bad and how i can improve.
bzw on my last test i did not see all the vocab i studied (baroon ,magoosh ) and the quant section had some difficult probability questions.

Oh ok. 3.25 out of 4 is dope man. I had 306 in gre, 4.58/5. I always have that feeling you have now but I still applied. I got 3 out of 5 admit. Since you've registered, I think verbal is the ish here. I used 500 essential and 500 advanced words for my vocabs. For the probability problem, the best way to learn probability is to practice more questions therefore exposing you to more scenarios. You can use the 5lb problem book for probability. Also, you can use magoosh video for probability. Hit me up if I miss anything out.

Hi guys and how are y'all doing.
I am having a little bit of tough time with school selection with MSc in Civil Engineering in view and looking to funding too.
Here is my profile->

GPA- 3.71/4.00
GRE- 309 [158(Q) 151(V)]
Job Experience- 2.5 yrs
3 researches conducted, none published yet.

I have the following list of schools in view after checking their websites-> Purdue Uni, Virginia Tech, Uni of Maryland College Park, Uni of Texas Arlington, Uni of South Florida and North Carolina A&T state Uni.

Your contribution on these schools and other schools I should consider is highly welcomed. Thank you.

No matter the schools you are looking at, try to reach out to faculty in the department especially those with matching research interests. Funding for Masters is a hard sell but not impossible. I will say scatter applications between Masters and PhD if funding is absolutely pertinent and try lower ranking
Schools (second tier) as they are most likely to fund for only masters. So perhaps Ohio University, Norfolk University Virginia, Toledo, Georgia Southern...the list is exhaustive and I don't even know if the afore schools have Civil programs. I know a few MSc only applicants they funded hence why I am mentioning them. Iowa State Uni has funding for Civil too but it might be more competitive than the schools above. You should look it up. All the best.

hey guys! how is it going ?
i took the GRE last year this time around and scored v:153 Q:152 (305 )
life went on and I've registered to take the test again on Oct 09 .
can yall throw your opinion if my score was ever bad for a meng program ? and how do I improve it ? I have about 2 month until the test , I hope its enough time to prepare
thanks in advance ,

Practice. Practice. Practice with pacing yourself and making corrections where necessary.

Your first GRE was good enough to get you into a non-thesis program as those are usually based on your money. But it depends on school. MIT and Stanford for instance may prove resistant. Even TAMU CS angry but usually most schools are lenient in admitting non-thesis based programs.

GRE prep? Search for Time2Smile (as typed) and read through his recent posts. A link on more recent GRE materials should be readily available. Also, mention Quoran here and ask for help.

Hi folks,

Please I need some clarification on how to use the PowerPrep II software. I have downloaded it but whenever I try to launch it,it opens in my Internet explorer which doesn't work well compared to my Mozilla. I thought Powerprep II is offline like the TOEFL sampler software. How do I make the software open on my Mozilla? Whenever I launch it on Explorer, it gets to the point where it shows the "Continue" button but fails to respond when I click on it.

Also, I need folks to clarify the difference between Powerprep II and Powerprep plus. My exam is on August 6th and I'm just confused about the whole stuff. I feel my preparation is adequate and I'm doing pretty well in other full test I've taken with Barron and Kaplan as well as diagnostic Tests from Princeton Review and Manhattan 5lb books. I have exhausted the Manhattan 5lb book, Official Guides (Verbal & Quants) and Princeton Review. I have watched all the Magoosh videos I downloaded from this forum. I always try to simulate the exam condition by constantly timing myself in all the practice exercises. I use 1.75 mins and 1.5 minutes for Quants and Verbal questions respectively. It has gretaly helped me and time is hardly an issue for me when I take full timed tests.

Please, I just need the clarification and working links to ets Powerprep II and Powerprep Plus if possible. I also need suggestions on other free online full test sites.

Hi.. could you please post the link you downloaded the Magoosh videos from. I'd be grateful... thanks.

Hello, we're in the same shoes!

1. No problem whatsoever. GRE is valid for 5 years.
2. No other means of identification apart from the international passport is accepted at the venue of the exams.
3. Soft copies are everywhere, check the front page of the thread. Register with BY Mafit and get extra bonuses.
