“In relation to the match, the result doesn’t change anything. My professional players were amazing all pre-season because they know we play against good teams, against good opponents. We have just a few [senior] players here, lots of kids. "Our kids are really, really young because the team of the older ones, the Under-23s, was relegated – the team went to the second division and were relegated, so the quality was not good. So we prefer to bring kids – on the pitch today we had a couple of kids who were 16 years old." - JOSE MOURINHO |

“People like Herrera, Bailly, Darmian, Mata, all these guys, were phenomenal during the whole pre-season, playing almost every minute of every game. So the game today – if [we] win 2-1, we lose 2-1 or draw 2-2, it doesn’t change anything but of course I know the players and I know I can count on them. "I know that these guys are amazing professionals and I know that they give everything for the club, for the prestige of the club. I know it would have not been nice to come here today and lose 5-1 or 6-1 against Real Madrid. "They were phenomenal and Karen [Shotbolt, press officer] knows that they were also phenomenal outside of the pitch with lots of commercial commitments, lots of meets and greets, lots of work with foundations. The guys were absolutely phenomenal.” - JOSE MOURINHO 1 Like |

“I think this isn’t Real Madrid, in the same way this isn’t Manchester United. Real Madrid is the same as us – it’s players from different groups. Some from the first team, some were on loan, some are from the Castilla, some from Real Madrid C so it’s a group of players. "Of course all of them are good players, this is not Real Madrid, this result means nothing to them, they have more time than us to prepare the season because La Liga they understand better than the Premier League the needs of the football players and La Liga will start a little bit later. It will let the coaches, the clubs and the players prepare better than us." - JOSE MOURINHO 1 Like |

“I didn’t learn anything [tactically]. I know what Herrera is, I know what Mata is, I know what Sanchez is, I know what they are. I know that the kids are really young, I know the kids need time to grow up, I know my players gave everything. "We saw that in the last 15 minutes when Real Madrid brought on Kroos, Asensio and Isco. The boys tried everything, they gave everything, they know we have to try to fight for the best result but tactically it means nothing. I just tried with the players we have available to try to organise the best possible team to play against them." - JOSE MOURINHO 1 Like |

"We had only one central defender – Bailly – so I decided because we only have one, instead of two, I played with three because the three can support each other a bit more. Tim Fosu-Mensah is a right-back and Scott McTominay is a central midfielder. "We tried to organise the three to make them a bit more comfortable, so I was not working to prepare the team for the future or for the Premier League. I was just trying to get the best possible result. "Against AC Milan, we managed to get a draw. Against Real Madrid, we managed to win. Against Liverpool, the team was in trouble and the referee was coming from a baseball match and he complicated the things for us. We were just trying to survive and have the best possible results.” - JOSE MOURINHO 1 Like |

"My players were amazing in their effort but we have more effort in front of us because in a few days we go to Munich and in 10 days we start the Premier League. "We will have [Victor] Lindelof who started training two days ago, plus Marcus Rashford, Jones and Lukaku because they gave to the group and to the team three days of their holidays so they are coming back three days early to try to be available for the team.” - JOSE MOURINHO 1 Like |

I don't see Madrid coach lamenting that the majority of his team were kids who won't probably feature much when the season starts |

Oasis007: Mans is calm on the ball, he looks like the missing puzzle to the Midfield 3 paradox...He has the positional awareness defensively but he's not as good as man marking as Herrera but he's faster than Matic so I'm confident he will attack more than defend as compared to Herrera. Overall he will be above average or at the very worst a bench warmer...His long range passing were mostly suspect though I'm not too worried that's Pogb's job. 1 Like 1 Share |

Inasmuch as I do criticise Mourinho steadily, and still think publicly revealing about Martial's petulance in this child saga is not a wise decision, I think Martial didn't handle the issue soundly as well. If this was the World Cup, would Martial have left the camp since and refused to come back and help the team? Being at his wife's side for the birth of his child was the right thing to do, but he'd have returned for the Madrid match. Fabian Delph left England camp to be present for his child's birth, but he returned afterwards to help his team-mates in the next match. The child is not running away. Martial no try. Mourinho handled it wrong with the public exposure too. It's a pre-season fixture, not a competitive fixture, somethings are meant to be sorted out internally. Mourinho talks too much. |

sinizia:It seems Martial is no longer interested in staying at the club or playing for Mourinho. It will do everyone good if he's sold asap so Mourinho can get the Perisic he wants 1 Like 1 Share |

notoriousbabe: I don't know for others, but I care! This is Family we are talking about Dude. Everything comes before Family, and if I'm in his Shoe - I will definitely do the same. Do you expect him to leave his Family the following Day after the Birth of his new Kid?! Has Clyne reported back to Duty at Liverpool?! What of Baba-Ibeju?! Has he returned back to Cobham?! Mou didn't handle it maturely like Klopp did?! He should have celebrated with the Lad, congratulated him and perhaps willingly grant him few Days to tending to his Family. |

It's apparent Martial ain't gonna leave this Season, and if he's played regularly - he's likely to renew his Contract. BTW..... Happy Birthday to Nemanja Matic! 1 Like 1 Share |

eph12: Exactly! Ordinary Pre-Season and our Manager wanna go haywire because of the Lad's absence for good Reason. Did he report back to the Camp lately?! Didn't he feature in the first 2 Friendlies?! I see nothing wrong with what Martial does, coz a Week Break ain't too much. |

Oasis007: eph12: Dont mind Mourinho, he just likesvto talk anyhow to show that he is the boss. Without Martial is he saying he won't achieve what he wants to achieve in pre season. What about Pogba and Lukaku that are not around. He talks too much and we all know the disposition about people who talk too much. |

eph12: Peace in a Mourinho squad? Why do you think many folks didn't want him at the club initially? These things are no surprise pls, this Martial situation is only one in a long list of problems Mou has had with players. I still maintain my stance, he should sell whoever he wants to sell, that way, the club will be forced to reinforce (obviously the RW has been forgotten), all these badmouthing players is b.s. It's really funny to see how scared the club is to let Martial go to another EPL team ...... 1 Like 1 Share |

Oasis007: I see am na. Did he have to mention it. Just like mentioning that Ed werey was on vacation. Its like he is trying to justify his impending failure with a supposedly worse result from another coach/group. I just hope he surprises all of us by winning the l3ague with style scoring more than a 100goals. |
